Purpose The purpose of this paper is to identify the impact of human resource development (HRD) on engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) project success (PS), human resource competency (HRC), job performance (JP), and the interrelationship among them. This paper also investigates the impact of EPC project factors (PF) on PS, the factors affecting HRD, including internal factors (IF) and external factors (EF) during EPC project implementation. Design/methodology/approach Structural equation modeling (SEM), SPSS, and AMOS software were used to test nine proposed hypotheses. The respondents comprised 800 participants involved in EPC projects throughout Vietnam. Findings The results show that HRD positively affects HRC, JP, and PS. HRD is influenced by IF but not influenced by EF. HRC positively impacts on JP and PS, while PF directly impacts on PS. Originality/value The study indicates that the development of competent human resources for EPC project implementation plays a considerable role in EPC PS. The findings also give project professionals a tool for improving HRD, and HRC to increase the likelihood of PS.

The aim of this study is to determine factors influencing human resource development of mechanical enterprises in Vietnam. The 392 usable data were collected; the Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) and the model and hypotheses were tested with Pearson's Correlation Coefficient. The research findings indicated that four factors affecting human resource development of mechanical enterprises including (i) Technology, (ii) Learning Motivation, (iii) Learning Culture of the enterprise and (iv) Abilities of employees. Furthermore, recommendations are proposed to enhance human resource development in mechanical enterprises.

In the context of Vietnam's socio-economy is gradually developing and actively participating in the industrial revolution 4.0, the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) is making constant efforts to realize its mission and development orientation. Human resource development plays an increasingly important role at the State Bank, that always needs to be perfected and renovated. The effective and practical system of work performance evaluation, working motivation evaluation and remuneration will be the main basis for the State Bank's human resource development plan at present and in the coming years. This study aims to evaluate the factors affecting the SBV employee’s motivation; with data collected from 454 SBV’s employees around the Vietnam, the research applied the quantitative method, using the Exploratory factor analysis (EFA), regression model and the Structural Equation Model (SEM) to determine the factors affecting the SBV employee’s motivation. Research results show that there are 5 factors (job characteristics, working environment, Reward policy, compensation and benefit, development opportunities) with different impacts on SBV employee’s motivation. Based on the results, the study provides recommendations to enhance job performance results of SBV task special employees.
