Seventy-five practicing auditors participated in the study which measured their needs using a modification of the Steers and Braunstein (1976) Manifest Needs Questionnaire. ANOVA and nonparametric statistics were used to compare the needs profiles of the auditors across their ranks in the firm (Staff, Senior, Managers, and Partner). Only the need for achievement varied systematically with position in the organization. These results are consistent with prior studies of needs as motivators. Suggestions are made for CPA firms to incorporate needs considerations into their human resource planning.

Human Resources is one of the central factors that drive quality hospital services. Human Resource Planning of pharmaceutical technicians at RSIA KM posed risks to service performance. The objective of this cross sectional study was to analyze the pharmacy staff requirements and workload using Workload Indicators of Staffing Need (WISN) method based on real time activity standards for each workload. RSIA KM had 4 existing pharmacy technicians. Based on the WISN analysis, the results of the study should WISN ratio 0.49 or ≤ 1.00 which means there was a lack of pharmaceutical staff. The ideal number of pharmaceutical staff should be 8.08 or 8 staff. In response, RSIA KM recruited 4 pharmacy technicians. Implication for job enrichment and recruitment are discussed. Keywords : human resource planning, WISN (workload indicators of staffing need), pharmaceutical technical staff

The study sought to determine the influence of human resource planning on firm performance of firms listed in the Nairobi Securities Exchange in Kenya. The study was anchored on human capital theory and shareholder value maximization theory. The research design used was a cross-sectional survey while the study population constituted all the 68 listed firms at the Nairobi Stock Exchange (NSE) as in May 2017. The target population included the head of human resources and finance directors in all the listed firms. The sample size comprised of 136 respondents, and data was collected through structured questionnaires to meet the objectives of the study. Responses were tabulated, coded, and processed by the use of a computer Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) to analyze the data. Both descriptive and inferential statistical techniques were used to analyze the data. To test hypotheses, a simple linear model was used to test significance between the independent and dependent variable. The study findings revealed that the relationship between human resource planning and firm performance was positive and statistically significant and hence rejected the null hypothesis. The study concluded that the type and strategy of the firm, succession planning, matching skills with jobs and skills inventory are human resource planning indicators influencing the performance of firms listed in the NSE. It is therefore recommended that firms should continue to practice and maintain adequate human resource planning as it plays a fundamental role in achieving the objectives of the organizations.

Purpose: The study aims to investigate the effect of human resource planning on the organizational performance of selected hotels in Nigeria. Method: It is a cross-sectional survey research. A self-developed close-ended questionnaire was used to collect data from managers, supervisors, and front desk officers working in 15 selected hotels operating in Ebonyi state, Nigeria. Descriptive statistics were used to analyze participants' demographic characteristics while regression was used to analyze the hypotheses.  Results: The study found that human resource planning dimensions, namely, adequate funding, competence, age, and cultural background have a positive significant effect on organizational performance. Implications: The HR managers must focus on the financial capability of the firm as well as the age, competence, and cultural orientation of the prospective employees while making the HR planning.

Abstract In this study, the resistance of FIB prepared vias was characterized by the Kelvin probe technique and their physical characteristics studied using cross-sectional analysis. Two domains of resistivity were isolated in relation to the ion beam current used for the deposition of the via metal (Pt). Also submicrometer vias were investigated on 4.2 µm deep metal lines of a BiCMOS aluminum based design and a CMOS 090 copper based one. It is shown that the controlling parameter is the shape and volume of the contact, and that the contact formation is favored by the amount of over-mill of the via into the metal line it will contact.
