Tetra(n-butyl)ammonium nitrite reacts with ‘dichlorophthalocyaninatoruthenium(III) acid’ to yield bis(tetra(n-butyl)ammonium) bisnitrophthalocyaninatoruthenate(II). It crystallizes monoclinic with crystal data: a = 15.114(4) Å, b = 22.34(3) Å, c = 18.206 (11) Å, β = 90.88(5)°; space group P1 21/n 1, Z = 4, and its X-ray crystal structure has been determined. Ru is located in the centre of the slightly distorted phthalocyaninate dianion, and is coordinated to two nitrite ions through their nitrogen (N) atoms in a staggered trans-configuration. The average Ru - N p ( Np pyrrolic N atoms) and Ru -N distance is 1.978(6) and 2.068(5) Å, respectively. The electrochemical and spectroscopic properties (IR, resonance Raman, UV/vis) of the compound are in full agreement with its molecular structure.

Thermal analysis is one of the most frequently used instrumental techniques in the pharmaceutical research, for the thermal characterization of different materials from solids to semi-solids, which are of pharmaceutical relevance. In this paper, simultaneous thermogravimetry/derivative thermogravimetry (TG/DTG) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) were used for characterization of the thermal behaviour of candesartan cilexetil active substance (C-AS) under dynamic nitrogen atmosphere and nonisothermal conditions, in comparison with pharmaceutical product containing the corresponding active substance. It was observed that the commercial samples showed a different thermal profile than the standard sample, caused by the presence of excipients in the pharmaceutical product and to possible interaction of these with the active substance. The Fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and X-ray powder diffraction (XRPD) were used as complementary techniques adequately implement and assist in interpretation of the thermal results. The main conclusion of this comparative study was that the TG/DTG and DSC curves, together with the FT-IR spectra, respectively X-ray difractograms constitute believe data for the discrimination between the pure substance and pharmaceutical forms.

AbstractSynthesis and structural characterization of two heterodinuclear ZnII-LnIII complexes with the formula [ZnLn(HL)(µ-OAc)(NO3)2(H2O)x(MeOH)1-x]NO3 · n H2O · n MeOH [Ln = Pr (1), Nd (2)] and the crystal and molecular structure of [ZnNd(HL)(µ-OAc)(NO3)2(H2O)] [ZnNd(HL)(OAc)(NO3)2(H2O)](NO3)2 · n H2O · n MeOH (3) are reported. The asymmetrical compartmental ligand (E)-2-(1-(2-((2-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzylidene)amino)-ethyl)imidazolidin-2-yl)-6-methoxyphenol (H2L) is formed from N1,N3-bis(3-methoxysalicylidene)diethylenetriamine (H2valdien) through intramolecular aminal formation, resulting in a peripheral imidazoline ring. The structures of 1–3 were revealed by X-ray crystallography. The smaller ZnII ion occupies the inner N2O2 compartment of the ligand, whereas the larger and more oxophilic LnIII ions are found in the outer O2O2’ site. Graphic Abstract Synthesis and structural characterization of two heterodinuclear ZnII-LnIII complexes (Ln = Pr, Nd) bearing an asymmetrical compartmental ligand formed in situ from N1,N3-bis(3-methoxysalicylidene)diethylenetriamine (H2valdien) through intramolecular aminal formation are reported.

Zirconia-graphene composite (ZrO2-G) has been successfully synthesized via decomposition of ZrOCl2•6H2O in a water-isopropanol system with dispersed graphene oxide (GO) utilizing Na2S as a precursor could enable the occurrence of the deposition of Zr4+ and the deoxygenation of GO at the same time. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) techniques were used to characterize the samples. It was found that graphene were fully coated with ZrO2, and the ZrO2 existing in tetragonal phase, which resulted in the formation of two-dimensional composite.

The synthesis and characterization of a new series of mono-, di-, and trinuclear Cr(II) borohydride compounds is described. The reaction of CrCl2(TMEDA) with two equivalents of NaBH4 afforded the thermally unstable (TMEDA)Cr(BH4)2 (1), which was converted by treatment with pyridine into the octahedral monomeric (Py)4Cr(BH4)2 (2). The reaction proceeds via formation of an intermediate trinuclear complex {[(TMEDA)(Py)Cr(η2-BH4)]2[(Py)2Cr(η2-BH4)2]}(µ,η1-BH4)2 (3), which was isolated and characterized by X-ray crystallography. Reaction of 1 and 2 with both CO2 and RN=C=NR (R = Cy, iPr) afforded hydride insertion and formation of the corresponding diamagnetic lantern-type Cr(II) formate (HCO2)4Cr2Py2 (4) and formamidinate compounds [RNC(H)NR]2Cr2(µ-BH)4 (R = Cy (5a), iPr (5b)), respectively, with supershort Cr—Cr quadruple bonds. The structures of 1, 2, 3, and 5b were elucidated by X-ray analysis. Crystal data are as follows. 1: C6H24N2B2Cr, monoclinic, Cc, a = 8.517(2) Å, b = 15.921(5) Å, c = 9.624(2) Å, β = 115.59(1)°, Z = 4, R = 0.022, Rw = 0.029; 2: C28H44N4B2O2Cr, monoclinic, P21/n, a = 12.021(1) Å, b = 15.555(1) Å, c = 15.723(1) Å, β = 90.13(2)°, Z = 4, R = 0.074, Rw = 0.086; 3: C32H76N8B6Cr3, monoclinic, P21/n, a = 8.515(1) Å, b = 14.525(1) Å, c = 18.286(2) Å, β = 91.38(1)°, Z = 2, R = 0.051, Rw = 0.060; 5b: C21H49N6BCr2, monoclinic, C2/c, a = 17.000(1) Å, b = 9.033(1) Å, c = 19.160(1) Å, β = 105.579(9)°, Z = 4, R = 0.069, Rw = 0.078. Keywords: divalent chromium, borohydride, Cr—Cr quadruple bond.

The synthesis and characterization of three metalla-rectangles of the general formula [Ru4(η6-p-cymene)4(μ4-clip)2(μ2-Lanthr)2][CF3SO3]4 (Lanthr: 9,10-bis(3,3’-ethynylpyridyl) anthracene; clip = oxa: oxalato; dobq: 2,5-dioxido-1,4-benzoquinonato; donq: 5,8-dioxido-1,4-naphthoquinonato) are presented. The molecular structure of the metalla-rectangle [Ru4(η6-p-cymene)4(μ4-oxa)2(μ2-Lanthr)2]4+ has been confirmed by the single-crystal X-ray structure analysis of [Ru4(η6-p-cymene)4(μ4-oxa)2(μ2-Lanthr)2][CF3SO3]4 · 4 acetone (A2 · 4 acetone), thus showing the anthracene moieties to be available for reaction with oxygen. While the formation of the endoperoxide form of Lanthr was observed in solution upon white light irradiation, the same reaction does not occur when Lanthr is part of the metalla-assemblies.

AbstractA new cyclotriphosphazene, 2,2,4,4,6,6-hexakis (o-tolylamono)-1,3,5,2λ5,4λ5,6λ5-triazatriphosphinine (MPAP), was prepared using microwave irradiation and identified by elemental analysis, FT-IR, Raman, 31P NMR spectroscopy, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. In the crystal, in addition to hydrogen bonds, the network is further stabilized by inter- and intramolecular π–π stacking interactions between aromatic rings.
