Ensuring livelihood security of the tribal farmers of Meghalaya has been the main focus of the policymakers. To accelerate the process, it is necessary to identify the most serious issue encountered by the farmers of the region. This paper presents a list of agricultural issues associated with the livelihood security of the farmers. Using survey data from beneficiary farmers of Tribal Sub-Plan (TSP) project of College of Post Graduate Studies in Agricultural Sciences (CPGSAS), Umiam, Meghalaya and College of Home Science (CoHSc), Tura, Meghalaya, Central Agricultural University, Imphal [CAU(I)], the method of paired comparison is applied to prioritize the list of issues. The data was collected in the year 2018 from 390 beneficiary farmers from Ri-Bhoi district and West Garo Hill of Meghalaya state. The result indicates that crop diseases and pest infestation were the most critical issue. Both present and future policymaker need to intervene according to the need base situation of the farmer to ensure their livelihood security.

Abstract:HIV/AIDS is disrupting household livelihood security in Tanzania's rural communities and contributing to rural impoverishment by claiming the lives of the most productive young adults who make up the bulk of the labor force in those areas. This article presents results of a case study based on a survey of 119 households conducted in three villages of Rungwe district in Tanzania. The results reveal that households with HIV/AIDS deaths spend less on food than those without AIDS deaths, and that households with HIV and AIDS-related deaths are more likely to fall below the poverty line.

Madhya Pradesh is a wildlife tourism destination in India. However, some Protected Areas are not developed, and their importance is not well-known. Weak management practices and low motivating factors for staff, lack of ownership among the communities were some of the restricting factors why they have not been able to develop to their full potential. In order to support their development, organizations having corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds were identified from various districts of Madhya Pradesh viz. Indore, Dhar, Satna, Katni, Singrauli and Dewas. The primary objective of this study is to throw light on their potential, to generate awareness about their potential and how they can be promoted to boost ecotourism with the help of all concerned stakeholders’ participation.
