ABSTRACT: In the early seventies received wide attention when Patai [1] published his book tagged the chemistry of the azomethane group and the aforementioned group is very important in the fields of chemistry, life sciences, chemical and pharmaceutical industries and medicine. The chemistry of imines includes two main groups is Schiff bases and oximes. as well as   presence of double bonds in the imines facilitated the possibility of their presence in the form of two Geometrical Isomers. Curtin and Husser [2] are among the first to discover the presence of imines in two forms, syn and anti, and the inability to separate these two forms in the imines is attributed to the freedom to rotate around the double bonds between The carbon and nitrogen atoms, which reduce the occurrence of the polarization process in C=N and facilitate the rotation process [3]. Keywords: tautomerism, organic chemistry, azomethane group

: Carbohydrazides and their Schiff bases are important class of heterocycles that are not only employed in the area of organic chemistry, but also have tremendous applications in physical and inorganic chemistry. A series of potential bioactive compounds, containing carbohydrazide functionality and their hydrazone derivatives have been synthesized and screened for antibacterial, anticancer, antifungal and anti-inflammatory etc. This brief review discloses some synthetic route to so many reported carbohydrazides, their Schiff bases, their biological activities and their structure activity relationship.

Selenium chemistry became, over the last 30 years, particularly useful for synthetic organic chemistry [1]. Inorganic as well as organic selenium compounds allow transformation which otherwise cannot be done or require much more drastic conditions to proceed. We have over the last 25 years explored the reactivity of elemental selenium as well as its inorganic and organic derivatives. We report here our recent finding concerning (i) organic diselenols and -diselenolates and (ii) the role of selenoxides in the enantioselective dihydroxylation of C,C double bonds using catalytic amounts of osmium tetroxide.

Abstract Alpha mannosidases are enzymes with varied applications preferably used in the preparation of important compounds of food and pharmaceutical industries. The production of enzymes is influenced by medium compositions as some of the constituents of the medium directly affect the enzyme synthesis. In the present study, the components of the culture medium are optimized by classical and Taguchi method for α-mannosidase from the suspension culture of the moss Hyophilla nymaniana (Fleish.) Menzel. One factor at a time approach was used in the preliminary screening of factors before proceeding optimization studies. Implementation of Taguchi Design of Experiment generated 16 experimental runs based on five factors sugar, temperature, pH, rpm, and nitrogen source. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) was performed on the obtained results and the optimum condition suggested by statistical calculations was validated in a verification test. The ANOVA result showed that the NH4NO3 contributed maximum on mannosidase production followed by temperature and RPM. Predicted results showed an enhanced mannosidase (63 %) can be achieved with pH 5.8, temperature 26 °C, RPM 120, maltose 1.5 %, and NH4NO3 2 % as carbon and nitrogen source, respectively.
