Compliance with oral hygiene is an important aspect of the prevention of dental diseases. But an uncontrolled choice, the use of improperly selected home hygiene products can lead to a number of complications, for example hyperesthesia of dentin. An important aspect of the choice of home hygiene products is their effect on the hard tissues of the tooth.Aim. To study in the experiment the effect of a hard toothbrush with a high level of abrasiveness of a toothpaste on the change in the enamel surface according to profilometry data.Materials and methods. Using the device for cleaning teeth, a study was carried out on the roughness of the surface if the enamel of the sample. In research were used the first 3 molars removed for periodontal indications, of which 3 samples of 1×1 cm were prepared. The measurements were carried out using a Senso neox profilometer (Sensofar) with a 3D magnification of 150 at the following time intervals: initial condition of the tooth, 1 week, 1 month, 6 months, 1 year.Conclusion. When using a hard toothbrush together in combination with a highly abrasive paste, the optimal combination time is not more than 6 months. Further, there is an increase in roughness of enamel surface.

BACKGROUND: The study of dental problems characteristic of geriatric patients is becoming increasingly relevant. As a person ages, the entire dental system undergoes physiological and functional changes. To eliminate the adverse effects of oral diseases, prolong the period of remission, preventive measures, constant monitoring of the level of hygiene, dispensary supervision of elderly and senile persons are necessary. AIM: This study aimed to determine the prevalence and intensity of dental diseases in the following older age groups: young elderly (6574 years old), old elderly (7584 years old), and very old elderly (85 years old and older). MATERIALS AND METHODS: A dental examination of 183 patients was carried out using a modified card for assessing the state of the dental status, according to guidelines of the World Health Organization. RESULTS: Analysis of dental morbidity in the older age group showed that the most common dental diseases in this group were extractions of lossened teeth caused by caries and periodontal diseases. Following a comprehensive dental examination of elderly patients and people with senility, the intensity of KPU and OHI-S was 19.760.52 and 2.710.12, respec-tively, and this indicates the poor hygienic state of the oral cavity of this population. CONCLUSION: Data support the untimeliness and inadequacy of dental care in elderly patients and people with senility. This necessitates the development of special treatment and prophylactic programs for this population, aimed at reducing dental morbidity.

To examine the relationship between the oral health behavior and perfectionism. Methods. A total of 450 patients were enrolled in this study aged from 18 to 25. Behavioral, socio-economic and clinical data were collected through questioning and clinical examination. Perfectionism was assessed using N.G. Garanyan and A.B. Kholmogorova Perfectionism questionnaire. Results. Poor oral hygiene was observed in 62,5% patients. The frequency of tooth cleaning was correlating negatively with such components of perfectionism as "Perception of people as delegating high expectations" (PPD) (r = -0.36; p <0.05); "Selecting information about personal failures" (SIF) (r = -0.33, p <0.05). "Self- reported gingival condition" showed negative correlation with "General perfectionism index"(GLP), "Inflated claims and demands to oneself" (ICD) (r = -0.27, p <0.05). There was positive correlation between hygiene index OHI-s and PPD (r = 0.44, p <0.05), ICD (r = 0.41, p <0.05), SIF (r = 0.47, p <0.05), "Polarized thinking" (r = 0, 35, p <0.05), GLP (r= 0,50; p<0,05). Conclusion. Patients had low level of oral health knowledge. Patients who are striving for ideal, exemplary behavior, themselves, will lowly assess the health of the gums. Striving for their "inner ideal", direct all their strength and attention to work, study or any other activity, and pay less attention to health, less watch for the condition of the teeth, compared to patients who have low scores on perfectionism.
