Compliance with oral hygiene is an important aspect of the prevention of dental diseases. But an uncontrolled choice, the use of improperly selected home hygiene products can lead to a number of complications, for example hyperesthesia of dentin. An important aspect of the choice of home hygiene products is their effect on the hard tissues of the tooth.Aim. To study in the experiment the effect of a hard toothbrush with a high level of abrasiveness of a toothpaste on the change in the enamel surface according to profilometry data.Materials and methods. Using the device for cleaning teeth, a study was carried out on the roughness of the surface if the enamel of the sample. In research were used the first 3 molars removed for periodontal indications, of which 3 samples of 1×1 cm were prepared. The measurements were carried out using a Senso neox profilometer (Sensofar) with a 3D magnification of 150 at the following time intervals: initial condition of the tooth, 1 week, 1 month, 6 months, 1 year.Conclusion. When using a hard toothbrush together in combination with a highly abrasive paste, the optimal combination time is not more than 6 months. Further, there is an increase in roughness of enamel surface.

Objective: Few studies have evaluated the effects of daily oral hygiene procedures on enamel surface roughness after bleaching. This study aimed to further assess the changes in enamel surface roughness after bleaching with 15% carbamide peroxide, followed by tooth brushing at three different time intervals (immediately, 1 h, and 2 h after bleaching). We hypothesized that the enamel surface roughness of the bleached teeth would not be affected by delayed tooth brushing after bleaching.

Recently, sanitary and educational work for the prevention of dental diseases in children is widely implemented, but the problem of awareness and oral hygiene in young and middle-aged people remains quite relevant. Nowadays, the range of dental items and hygiene products is quite wide, so a person who does not receive the recommendations of a dentist is quite difficult to understand what and why it should be used. Therefore, the aim of the study was to study the preventive knowledge of ordinary passers-by of young and middle age and their awareness of additional subjects and hygiene products. Object and methods of research. To achieve this goal, 100 passers-by in the center of Poltava were interviewed. According to the age classification of the World Health Organization: the young age is from 25 to 44, middle age is 44-60, elderly age is 60-75, senile age is 75-90 and long-livers are after 90. Two age groups were selected for the results: young and middle-aged, as these groups are the most common. Age was determined by survey. 50 people aged 25-44 years and 50 people aged 44-60 years were elected. The gender was not taken into account when choosing a contingent. Passers-by were asked 5 simple questions that characterized both the preventive habits of the respondents and knowledge about hygiene items and products. Research results and their discussion. Analyzing the answers to the questions, we found that young people (25-44 years) are more aware of the rules of oral care than middle-aged respondents (44-60 years). Answering the first question - "How often do you visit the dentist?" respondents answered as follows: only 5 young people visit the dentist as needed, while among middle-aged people this number is seven times higher. When answering the second question - "Do you pay attention to the composition of toothpaste when choosing?" respondents answered as follows: 42% of young people always pay attention to the composition, twice as many people - buy what the dentist advises, and the rest respondents were not interested in the components of the paste. The results of the second group were significantly worse. The third issue concerned the frequency of toothbrush changes, which is very important for the quality of oral hygiene and cleaning efficiency. The results of the survey showed that people from the older age group of the study are less aware of this issue. The answers to the fourth and fifth questions also showed a lower level of knowledge in middle-aged people. Thus, after analyzing the answers of the respondents, it is clear that people of the younger age group (25-44 years) are more aware of oral hygiene and prevention of dental diseases. In our opinion, this situation is associated with the introduction of health education at different levels, available information on the Internet and various social platforms, more responsible attitude to their health and awareness of preventive measures. It is necessary to pay attention to the education of middle-aged people regarding oral hygiene, as it is an integral part of the prevention of dental diseases.

Aim of our study was to study the preventive and therapeutic effect of microbial products, including dry and freeze-dried live cultures of lactobacillus. The article presents the results of comparative evaluation of the dynamics of clinical data in the prevention in 164 adolescents aged 14 to 18 years, and in the treatment of chronic generalized periodontitis of mild to moderate severity in 100 adults, with the appointment of probiotic in one group. The level of the oral hygiene and the state of periodontal tissues were estimated by the standard dental indieces. It was found that probiotics used in complex of preventive and treatment measures, regardless of the technology of their creation, contribute to positive clinical dynamics, namely to improve oral hygiene and the condition of the periodontal tissues.

Introduction. Nowadays, the prevention of dental diseases is very important in dentistry. The main measure aimed at prevention of dental diseases is an individual oral hygiene. Its effectiveness depends on the quality and regularity, as well as the proper selection of means of individual oral hygiene. The objective is to study the effectiveness of using the certain toothpastes with different active ingredients.Material and methods. Toothpastes «А» and «B» were used to study the effectiveness of using the certain toothpastes with different active ingredients. Probantes at the age of 50 to 70 years, with the presence of dental deposits and periodontal disease of moderate and severe degrees of severity took part in the study of the effectiveness of using these toothpastes. They were divided into two groups of 26 people in each group. The study evaluated the following indices: the hygiene index of Green – Vermillion (1964), gingival PMA index (Parma, 1960), the bleeding index of Muhleman and Son (1971). Results. The experiment discovered the decrease of the values of the digital indicators of the hygiene index of Green – Vermillion, gingival PMA index, and the bleeding index of Muhleman and Son in all groups during the whole period. These changes of the values of the indices were accompanied with the simultaneously increase in the values of a cleansing effect, anti-inflammatory and hemostatic efficiency.Conclusions. Toothpastes «А» and «В» are treatment-and-prophylactic toothpastes, acting effectively on the tissues and organs of the oral cavity with prolonged use.

The past earthquake records in North Lombok show the high level of earthquake hazard in this area. The maximum magnitude of the earthquake was 6.4 Mw on May 30th, 1979. But, there were no tsunami events records due to those earthquakes. Nevertheless, this area is very close to Mataram City (province capital city) and tourism area. Therefore, the assessment of tsunami hazard is very important. The tsunami simulation was conducted by using COMCOT Model, which is based on the North Lombok Earthquake as the initial condition. The simulation result shows the prediction of tsunami travel time is about 18 ~ 20 minutes from the source location to Mataram City. The height of the tsunami wave is 0.13 ~ 0.20 meters due to the earthquake magnitude is about 6 Mw.
