<p>The quality of education offered by the tertiary institutions in Nigeria in recent times has critically degenerated. Unfortunately, this has led to the unprecedented rise in the poor quality of Nigerian graduates which contributes to the very alarming high rate of unemployment in the country. This article therefore examines the relationship between total quality management (TQM), employee commitment and competitive advantage among tertiary institutions in Lagos State with a particular focus on the University of Lagos, using a survey research design with a random selection of 350 respondents from a population of 2,047 staff strength across the 11 faculties in the university. The data used for this article were derived from a systematic review of the relevant literature and a structured questionnaire. The data obtained from the questionnaire was subjected to descriptive and inferential statistics. The result showed that the adoption of total quality management practices and employee commitment significantly affects competitive advantage. The findings suggest that proper adoption of TQM practices coupled with employee commitment will guarantee competitive advantage outcomes measured in terms of increase in revenue, customer satisfaction and employee satisfaction. Effective improvement in quality has become a potentially precious way to boost competitiveness and organizational performance. This paper aims to assess for competitive advantage and organizational performance the effects of Total quality management (TQM) activities. A quantitative approach is used to obtain data from a survey (questionnaire) consisting of 38 items with a five-point Likert scale. The unit of analysis is small and medium food companies in Iraq. The respondents in this paper are the managers of departments. Smart PLS 3.2.9 was used to analyze the results. The findings of the path analysis of partial least squares (PLS) support variables in their hypothesised direct relationships with organizational performance. The analysis results suggest that competitive advantage partially mediates the relationship between (TQM) practices and organizational performance. The paper provides many suggestions that are helpful both for researchers and policymakers to undertake more research in this area as well as to enhance the (CA) and (OP) of organisations in the future.

This study aims to learn the effect of the Total Quality Management dimensions, Top Management Support, Customer Focus, Process Management, Employees Participation, Employees' Empowerment, and Continuous Improvement, on financial performance by moderating organizational culture. The study population includes nine transport companies listed on the Amman Stock Exchange until the end of 2019. Alia Company and Royal Jordanian Airlines were excluded since its financial data formed extreme values when compared with the values of the rest of the companies. The study uses Multiple Linear Regression to test the hypotheses. The study found a statistically significant effect at the level of significance (α < 0.05) for both top management support, customer focus, employees’ participation and empowerment, by moderating the organizational culture on financial performance measured by return on asset for the Jordanian transport companies listed on the Amman Stock Exchange. In light of the statistical results, the study presented several recommendations, the most important of which was to increase the top management interest in cultivating a profound organizational culture towards learning, development, mastering performance and improving the quality of its services to attract customers, and distinguish the organization from other organizations, in a way that reflects positively on developing its financial performance.
