Abstract Due to the increasing demand for metals, the extractable grade of metal deposits has been decreasing and caused an increase in the amount of tailings. Increase in the volume of tailings requires proper attention to tailings disposal, the establishment of tailings dams, water consumption and prevention of environmental and groundwater pollution. Since tailings disposal consists of many stages such as discharge, thickening technology and location, and transportation, selection of the best disposal method is a complicated task. Nowadays, decision-making methods are widely used and they are very reliable and efficient. Therefore, a model based on fuzzy analytic hierarchy process (AHP) has been developed in this study to optimize tailings disposal method selection. In the model, 21 criteria and a wide range of alternatives have been introduced. The model has been applied to the Sangan Iron Ore Project (SIOP). The concentrator plant of SIOP will produce 75 million tons of tailings during the mine lifetime. Since the current disposal method wastes 1.5 million cubic metres of water annually and the project is located in a dry region, the proposed model has been used to investigate other options and the results show the filtered technique is the best alternative.

Celebrity endorsement is a critical and positive commercial promotional tool. With the increasing number of international sports celebrities, many sporting and non-sporting goods companies use such celebrities to promote their products. This study develops a model for selecting sports celebrity endorsers. A Chinese sporting brand company is the target of this study. The proposed model adopts the modified Delphi method to identify suitable criteria and applies the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) to determine the criteria's relative weights. The selected company exemplifies how the model can guide the selection of sports celebrity endorsers. The model ranks the importance to the target company of five criteria: trustworthiness, match-up, attractiveness, risk and expertise. The proposed model allows the company to select sports celebrity endorsers effectively, and contributes to academia and commerce.

With the growing development of the society nowadays, the economic growth in China is also increasing fast, which deeply influences the decisions and options that university students make to plan for their future and to seek for the opportunities of the internship. This paper analyzes the attitude and the aims towards to internship for the university students, especially for those who major in engineering management, combining the actual cases analysis, this paper introduces the Fuzzy Comprehensive Evaluation (FCE) and Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) to build the combination model named Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (FAHP). It is applied to better selection of the internship for whom majoring in engineering management. The actual results show that it can solve such multi-factor, multi-level and uncertain decision making problems, which is of practical significance to the university students who are searching for the internship of engineering management.

In this paper, the application of the Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (Fuzzy AHP) combined with a set of criteria analysis for the selection of appropriate sites for the development offshore wind energy in Taiwan is presented. The Fuzzy AHP was first conducted to rank the importance and identify the key factors of offshore wind energy successfully. From the numerical results, eight key factors that must be considered in the site selection of offshore wind energy system in Taiwan were obtained by using Fuzzy AHP model. They are: wind power, earthquakes, land use, shore type, typhoon, distance to shoreline, flight safety and water depth. Based on these factors, a set of criteria for the selection of sites for offshore wind farms was also established using five different sites in Taiwan. From the assessment results, it was found that Changhua coastal region is an appropriate site for offshore wind energy in Taiwan.

For the selection of the suitable place for the construction of sanitary landfill and biogas plant in the city of Najaf Abad, this study used fuzzy analytic hierarchy process, fuzzy analytic network process, and geographic information system. In this research, factors such as slope, aspect, geology, land use, biomass, and distance from groundwater, electricity network, protected areas, and roads were used as the most important criteria for site selection of biogas plant. The results of weighting and overlaying the maps of different criteria showed that based on the analytic network process, the best place selected for the establishment of biogas reactor was located in the southwest and based on analytic hierarchy process, the best places are located in the south and southwest of the study area. Suggested places, which are the best for the establishment of biogas plant, are located in barren lands of Najaf Abad. Moreover, according to the result, it is found that 10% and 11% of the study area are highly suitable based on fuzzy analytic hierarchy process and analytic network process methods, respectively. The results showed that the usage of fuzzy analytic hierarchy process, fuzzy analytic network process as multi-criteria decision-making methods in combination with geographic information system are suitable for selecting the best place for landfill and biogas plant.
