Background:Bruxism is defined as a repetitive activity of grinding the teeth through lateral or protrusive movements of the mandible, and it is considered the most complex and destructive functional disorder. In addition, erosion caused by diet or reflux can damage the remaining teeth.Objective:In this report, a patient with bruxism and dental erosion was treated with a multidisciplinary approach to restore the function and aesthetic.Methods:This clinical report describes the management of an adult woman, 33 years old, who was dissatisfied with the aesthetics of her smile and complained of joint pain and headaches. As result of her condition, the patient’s dentition exhibited generalized wear on the vestibular and incisal surface of the upper incisors incompatible with her age, moderate darkening of the teeth and excess gingival tissue in the upper incisors. After a detailed anamnesis and clinical examination, a diagnosis of bruxism and acid erosion caused by a diet rich in citrus foods and beverages was obtained. Forthwith, a treatment plan was established, and the patient underwent home bleaching, gingivoplasty and ceramic laminates of lithium disilicate on the anterior teeth. After the rehabilitation was completed, a night guard was made to reduce the symptoms of bruxism and avoid fracture of the ceramic restorations. The patient was followed at different time intervals.Conclusion:The improvement in the aesthetics of the teeth was significant and remained stable after periodic controls in which no adverse effects were observed.

Dental erosion is the chemical dissolution of the tooth structure. Factors like eating disorders and gastrointestinal diseases are recognized as intrinsic factors for dental erosion. Advanced stages of dental erosion extensively damage the tooth morphology, consequently affecting both esthetics and functions. Reports indicate the growing prevalence of erosion, and hence knowledge of restorative rehabilitation of tooth erosion is an integral part of the contemporary dental practice. This clinical report describes an adult patient with gastroesophageal reflux induced dental erosion involving the palatal surface of the maxillary anterior teeth. The extensive involvement of the palatal surfaces compromised the esthetics, incisal guidance, and functional occlusal efficiency. Indirect all-ceramic restorations were utilized to restore the esthetics and occlusal reconstruction. In conclusion, patients affected by severe dental erosion require prosthetic rehabilitation besides the management of the associated medical condition.

Abstract This case report is of a 31-year-old female who presented with splinted and faulty metalloceramic prosthesis on maxillary anterior teeth, which was responsible for localised periodontal disease and poor aesthetics. At multiple sites the ceramic had chipped off and the prosthesis colour did not match with the adjacent healthy teeth. A multidisciplinary approach of endodontics, periodontics and prosthodontics was employed for this case. The treatment plan consisted of removing the faulty prosthesis, endodontic retreatment of inadequately root-treated teeth and endodontics in the other coronally prepared abutment teeth. Crown lengthening surgery was performed for the correction of periodontal pockets and high smile line and maintenance of an adequate biological width. After periodontal healing, all-ceramic individual crowns were placed on the maxillary anterior teeth along with a three-unit all-ceramic bridge for the replacement of the left upper maxillary first premolar. Pain of the tempro-mandibular joint (TMJ) has a direct bearing to missing teeth and excessive physical activity. Consumption of qat requires chewing on the leaves to extract their juice for long hours. A 65-year-old male Yemeni patient, a Qat chewer, reported to the university dental hospital at King Khalid University complaining of pain in left temporomandibular joint with missing mandibular anterior teeth. A multidisciplinary approach for the overall treatment of the patient was decided. Initial treatment was the relief of patient’s pain with the help of a night guard. This was followed by a fabrication of anterior FPD. The case was under maintenance and follow-up protocol for a period of 8 months with no complaint of pain discomfort.

Aim To describe a comprehensive digital therapy oriented towards the final restoration for treating an oral maxillofacial defect caused by maxillary chondrosarcoma. Summary The prosthetically-driven multidisciplinary approach was applied to achieve perfectly functional-aesthetic reconstruction for a male patient with maxillary chondrosarcoma. The complete tumor resection was ensured by the design of virtual osteotomy and surgical guide plate. A reverse engineering technique was used to reconstruct the bone defect in the maxillary aesthetic area, which offered reference for a three-dimensional printing guide plate to shape and fix the free vascularized iliac bone flap. On the solid basis of previous treatment, the implant placement was performed under the guidance of the prosthetic-driven implant plate. Vestibular extension and tissue graft were performed to increase keratinized gingiva width to improve implant-supported fixed prosthesis effect. Key learning points 1. A multidisciplinary approach including maxillofacial surgery, prosthodontic and periodontal treatment can provide better esthetic and functional results for complex rehabilitation of a patient with oral maxillofacial defect. 2. Predictability of maxillary reconstruction and implant restoration can be increased with prosthetic-driven treatment plan. 3. Applying preoperative virtual design and personalized guide plate is beneficial to achieve an ideal outline of reconstructed upper jaw. 4. Obtaining comprehensive aesthetic parameters of the expected restoration is one of the key principles of upper anterior teeth rehabilitation. 5. Digital technology provides an opportunity for consistency between the primary treatment design and the final restoration outcome.

(1) Background: Oculo-facio-cardio-dental (OFCD) syndrome is a rare pathological condition with an X-linked dominant trait that only occurs in females; no males are born with OFCD syndrome. This syndrome is characterized by congenital cataracts with secondary glaucoma ocular defects, ventricular and atrial septal defects, or mitral valve prolapses. Facial traits are a long narrow face and a high nasal bridge with a bifid nasal tip. Dental anomalies include radiculomegaly, oligodontia, root dilacerations, malocclusion, and delayed eruption. (2) Methods: This clinical report describes a 26-year-old girl who suffers from OFCD syndrome and who was treated with a multidisciplinary approach. The treatment plan included orthodontic treatment, orthognathic surgery, namely LeFort I and a Bilateral Sagittal Split Osteotomy, and occlusal rehabilitation with implants. (3) Discussion: Early diagnosis and multidisciplinary treatment of orthodontic, orthognathic surgery and occlusal rehabilitation with implants make it possible to maintain tooth function and improve aesthetics with good prognoses for success. In this paper, we report a case of a female patient with OFCD syndrome, who was referred for orthodontic treatment and occlusal rehabilitation and treated with a multidisciplinary approach.

Objective: multidisciplinary treatment has become increasingly common in dental offices and this treatment strategy is based on the achievement of a healthy, harmonious, and pleasant smile. In addition, the development of new ceramic systems and the possibility of making indirect restorations with a low thickness, such as laminates veneers, allowed combining highly satisfactory aesthetic properties, preserving the dental structure through minimal wear. Case report: this paper describes a multidisciplinary approach involving periodontics and restorative dentistry for the successful, functional, and aesthetic treatment in an adult patient. The digital smile design was performed as a guide to plan the clinical case considering factors such as tooth inclination and position, golden proportion, tooth size and shape. Discussion: based on these concepts, the present work reports, through a clinical case, the restoration of aesthetics and function with ceramic laminates veneers in lithium disilicate, in the case of anatomical correction and diastema closure. Conclusion: overall, the multidisciplinary treatment plan demonstrated to have greater advantages both for the aesthetics and function of the patient, as well as for the work team. Introduction: The aesthetic rehabilitation of endodontically treated teeth depends on the degree of destruction of the crown, the tooth in question, the bone support, the type of prosthesis and the types of forces to which these teeth will be submitted. The indirect composite resins have improved physical and mechanical properties thanks to the incorporation of inorganic components and multifunctional monomers with a greater number of bonding points, making them capable of solving the problems in which ceramic restorations would be indicated. Objective: To present a clinical case report of an aesthetic rehabilitation of anterior teeth with indirect composite resin as a viable and less expensive treatment alternative. Case Report: Upon clinical examination, extensive and deficient restorations were observed in the upper anterior teeth. The proposed treatment plan aesthetic rehabilitation of dental elements with ceromeres. Conclusions: This treatment represented a viable and less expensive option that can be used both in situations of great dental destruction and in small dental absences, in substitution for ceramic restorations.

ABSTRACT The development of all-ceramic systems following metalceramics restorations allowed simulation of natural dentition due to favorable esthetics and resistance. In-Ceram is an alternative when esthetics is primordial as well as resistance required in rehabilitation. However, an ideal smile is associated to not only shape, color, texture and translucency but also harmony with gingival tissue. So, the aim of this study is to report a clinical case based on periodontal and fixed partial dentures principles to perform periodontal plastic surgery followed by esthetic rehabilitation. A female patient, 40-year-old, presented complaint about dental esthetics. After clinical and radiographic exams, metal-ceramics crowns (teeth 11, 12, 13, 21, 22 and 23) were considered unsatisfactory due to marginal leakage, color change in gingival tissue associated to metallic margin, and gummy smile. So, a crown lengthening surgery of anterior teeth was performed followed by rehabilitation of superior teeth with In- Ceram single crowns. Clinical significance The interaction between periodontics and fixed prosthodontic area is the key of an adequated treatment planning which involves gingival smile to provide function and an esthetic condition in association with an esthetic, resistant and predictable material. <p>The presence of diastema, between anterior teeth, distorts a pleasing smile by concentrating the observer’s attention on the spaces. The patient’s needs and expectations must be considered in the process of treatment planning to ensure satisfaction with the treatment outcomes. There are many forms of therapy that can be used for diastema closure. A carefully developed diagnosis, which includes a determination of the causal elements and advanced treatment planning, allows the most appropriate treatment to be selected for each case. The aim of this paper is present a multidisciplinary approach as a solution to multiple diastemas in the anterior region using gingival tissue recontouring and direct adhesive restorations, with minimum wear of the dental structure, after the orthodontic intervention discussing the minimal intervention to obtain imperceptive and aesthetic final restoration. Thirty-six months after the treatment was carried out, the final aesthetic was maintained with all dental element details and gingival tissue harmony, without recurrence of periodontal pockets and the preservation of the tooth color and shape. </p>

Keeping in mind the final result is the basis of any type of treatment, especially those in which the morphology, size and proportion of the anterior teeth will be changed. This is where a good treatment plan based on a diagnostic wax-up tested with a mock-up and approved by the patient becomes crucial. This case report aims to exemplify how to transfer the diagnostic information to the patient’s mouth and direct it not only to the restorative dentistry, but also to the surgeon when performing the crown length. Diagnostic waxing was performed by the laboratory technician, obeying anterior posterior incisal and gingival criteria and curvatures, which were transported to an aesthetic guide through mock up to mark the surgical points. Then, surgery to increase the clinical crown with bone access and after healing, direct venners in composite resin also guided by waxing. In conclusion, a workflow can be established using the wax-up / mock-up that serves as a guide for the periodontist in the approach to surgical lengthening of the crown and for the rehabilitator who uses it to produce changes in the shape of dental dimensions .
