This paper is a comparative study of place identity of nighttime urban public parks between Shah Alam that was built in 1957 and Putrajaya in 1999. This study used four research domains that form place identity adapted from Relph, 1976 and Cheshmehzangi, 2012. The method of this study involves the behavior mapping survey and the questionnaire survey. The data were then analysed using Measurable Indicator Scoring Technique (Karim, 2008) to ensure constant comparative process by creating analytic codes. It is hope that the findings from this study would help to improve the place identity and functions of future nighttime urban public parks. Keywords: Nighttime place identity; urban public park; Measurable Indicator Scoring TechniqueeISSN 2398-4295 © 2018. Designer’s job is no longer to produce unalterable solutions; the fact that there is a need to consult the end users in the design process has been discussed in various literatures. Previous works on public participation have given the depiction of very low public participation. This study is about establishing the obstacles of public participation in the design process of public parks as perceived by landscape architects. Six main factors that are detrimental to public participation were extracted and assessed by representatives from landscape consulting. Data was descriptively analyzed and the results have shed some light regarding the main obstacles. Keywords: Public Participation; Landscape; Public Space; Public Parks eISSN 2514-7528 © 2018. The main factors that contribute in successful of the park are good of access and linkage (GAL), degree of comfort and image (DCI), user and activities (UAC) and sociability (SOC). Six public park in Malaysia involved in this study conducted through a survey using a questionnaire. The validation and reliability of four constructs were done using Cronbach’s Alpha. The result found that all construct achieved Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient level exceeding 0.60 (GAL=0.89, DCI=0.82, UAC=0.82, SOC=0.82). These results explain all items in GAL, DCI, UAC and SOC construct have good internal consistency, indicating that all dimensions have a good reliability value. Keywords: public park, perception, accessibility, lingkageseISSN 2398-4295 © 2018. The objective of this study is to re-evaluate the conceptualisation of super levees by focussing on the availability of open spaces as evacuation areas along the Arakawa River. By using land use, occupation and cross-section analysis, this study found that open spaces on super levees able to accommodate a large number of evacuees. This proves that the development of super levees is undeniably ready to provide sizeable safe upland evacuation area for nearby residents. This study also implies that the future development of super levee should include more open space by the development of a public park on the site.
