Este artigo trata do problema do mal dentro do quadro de referência da psicologia profunda. A primeira parte introduz, de modo breve, a narrativa do livro de “Jó” como um exemplo para contextualizar a questão fundamental da relação de Deus com o mal e de como ela permaneceu não respondida e foi deixada em aberto na teologia cristã. A segunda parte reconstrói, historicamente, a polêmica não resolvida a respeito da natureza do mal entre Carl Jung (1875-1961) e o scholar, teólogo e dominicano inglês, Victor White (1902-1960). Examina as diferentes especulações e formulações que ambos fizeram relativas ao mal e suas implicações psicológicas, até a ruptura final, após a severa resenha crítica de White a respeito da obra mais controversa de Jung sobre religião, “Answer to Job”. A parte final deste artigo introduz reflexões adicionais a um tema desafiador que é tão poderoso e relevante no mundo atual de terrorismo em nome da religião, quanto o era na Europa do pós-guerra, que lutava para recuperar-se do totalitarismo e do genocídio.

Este artículo analiza dos momentos en la novela De Ánima (1984) de Juan García Ponce, en los cuales se utiliza el recurso de la ecfrasis y el apropiacionismo. Me aproximaré a estas estrategias con el objetivo de observar su funcionamiento en la estructura narrativa, además del efecto de sentido que producen en una lectura que los considere. También pretendo detallar algunas cuestiones de la relación pintura-escritura para observar el tratamiento intermedial establecido por el autor. El primer momento revisa la relación de una obra del pintor Lucas Cranach el Viejo y el procedimiento narrativo utilizado por García Ponce para articular a Paloma, protagonista femenina. El segundo momento contempla el análisis de dos ecfrasis, cuyo origen es Le Déjeuner sur l'Herbe de Édouard Manet, desde dos perspectivas de la misma representación visual. Asimismo, prestaré atención al tratamiento apropiacionista y su efecto de sentido derivado. El artículo se apoya en la noción de ecfrasis de Luz Aurora Pimentel, Irene Artigas y James Heffernan; la estructura abismada de Helena Beristáin; el apropiacionismo de Juan Martín Prada; y el concepto ánima-animus de Carl Jung. A educação integral com tempo estendido para sete horas diárias e um enfoque multidimensional do ser humano, se coloca como a concepção defendida pela legislação educacional brasileira e por pensadores contemporâneos do processo educacional, tais como Anísio Teixeira e Paulo Freire. O educando deve ser encarado enquanto ser complexo, formado por dimensões física, emocional, mental, social, cultural, e espiritual, sendo necessário que a educação foque no seu desenvolvimento integral. Na sociedade materialista de hoje a dimensão espiritual ficou excluída do ambiente escolar, ou delegada à marginalidade, o artigo procura demonstrar os benefícios e as possibilidades de desenvolvê-la na educação formal, levando em consideração os estudos de diversos autores, tais como Jean Piaget, Carl Jung, Ubiratan D’Ambrosio, entre outros.

This article reflects on the contribution  that can  be made to the interpretation of the Bible by employing the analytical psychology of Carl Jung. After some relevant biographical considerations on Jung, his view of religion and the Bible is briefly considered, followed by a look into Genesis 1-3 in terms of his distinction of archetypes. It is suggested in the conclusion that Jungian psychological Biblical criticism can lead to a changed, but fresh view on the ‘authority’ or influence of the Bible in the lives of (post)modern human beings and their (ethical) behaviour.

Alcoholics Anonymous is probably the most influential self-help organization in the world, with a current worldwide membership approaching 2 million. The origin of the organization has ties to Carl Gustav Jung and William James, 2 very prominent figures in the history of psychology. A brief history of the events that led to the formation of Alcoholics Anonymous is presented, with particular emphasis on the influence of Jung and James. An account of relevant life events of both Jung and James is provided, in addition to a summary of their views on alcoholism and its treatment. Speculation is offered on how the 2 men might view their unsolicited association with the organization.

Interpersonal transformation of pastors – the paradox of emotional trauma as source to healingThis article reflects upon the way in which the interplay between reason and emotion influences pastors’ lives and ministry. It studies the process of inner transformation as a meaningful way for pastors to become ‘healed healers’. Inner transformation is described in terms of Aristotle’s phronēsis and Paul Ricoeur’s movement from mimēsis1 to mimēsis3. The article agrues that ‘healing’ in no way purports that pastors are able to heal others in a literal sense, but merely that by being conscious of their own wounds, pastors can experience the paradox that their own wounds could become a source of healing. This approach to woundedness is interpreted from two distinct perspectives. Firstly, it is seen from the perspective of Jesus as the human face of God. Jesus’ emotional disposition towards the nobodies of his time is seen as paradigmatic for pastors’ relationships with others. Secondly, woundedness is seen within the context of the metaphor of the wounded healer as narrated in ancient Greek mythology, and used by Carl Jung in a psychiatric setting. It is not only pastors’ knowledge of the Bible, theological tradition and different pastoral and other therapeutic theories, models and methods that facilitates meaningful interaction between themselves and others. Central to pastors’ role as wounded healers is their conscious acknowledgement of their own humanity and therefore their own woundedness.
