Motile Aeromonas Septicimia is a dangerous disease on fresh water fish especially walking catfish and carp. Vaccination against the disease has been developed in Indonesia. However, there were high result variations of the vaccination. Immune response is influenced by level of vitamin C dietery. Objective of this experiment was to know effect of vitamin c levels on walking catfish’s specific immune respose. The levels of vitamin (0, 50, 500, and 1000 mg ascorbic acid (AA)/kg feed) were given to the fish. Immersion vaccination for 30 minutes (108 sel/ml) was carried out 15 days after feeding trial. Challenge test was conducted by injection of 0,2 ml bacteria suspension (LD80 concentration) was carried out 15 days after vaccination. Growth rate of the fish was observed monthly. Result of this experiment indicated that mortality in the challenge test due to A. hydrophila infection considerably decreased for treatment combination among vaccination; and 500 and 1000 mg AA/kg feed. These AA levels without vaccination could not reduce mortality.

Cyphocharax gilbert infested by Riggia paranensis shows parasitic castration. The prevalence of parasitism in C. gilbert varied among different environments, being higher in the middle rio Itabapoana. Fish were collected monthly using two cast nets (thrown 30 times during the day) and gillnets kept in the river during 12 hour, from sunset to sunrise, between September 1997 and August 2000. Infestation pattern was investigated on 1358 specimens. Most of them were infested (57.9%), with one or two parasites; the majority (62.9%) was collected during the rainy season (spring-summer). The parasite did not show preference for sex or size of hosts. A total of 91.5% of the 511 examined parasites had a body size that represented 10.1% to 20% of host standard length. The reproductive condition of 311 specimens of R. paranensis was analyzed checking the presence of oocytes in the ovarian and eggs or embryos in the marsupium. Nearly 73% of them were at reproductive phase, and had a body size that represented 5.1% to 20% of host standard length. The size of the immature parasites varied from 0.1% to 5% of the host size. The results suggest that R. paranensis may adopt a fast growth rate strategy and increase the investment in reproduction when they occupy most of the host's pericardial space.

Present paper deals with study of cestode parasites of genus Circumoncobothrium from fresh water fish Clarius batracus at Savitri river, (Dapoli) for the percentages of infection occurance during summer season, minimum during winter and tolarate during rainy season. The parasite mainly infected the intestine of host and fed on nutrients from digested food. It completed its life cycle in the intestine of host. By camparing different characters of it to identify that the species is new

The present investigation deals with the prevalence of infection of cestode, Pseudoinverta oraiensis19 parasitizing Clarias batrachus from Bundelkhand Region (U.P.) India. The studies were recorded from different sampling stations of Bundelkhand region of Uttar Pradesh. For this study 360 fresh water fish, Clarias batrachus were examined. The incidence of infection, monsoon season (17.50%) followed by winter season (20.00%) whereas high in summer season (30.00%).

Dioctyl phthalate (DOP) commonly used as plasticizer enters into aquatic environment from the industries manufacturing plastic products, PVC resins, cosmetics and many other commercial products. Therefore, this study was designed to evaluate the acute toxicity effects of Dioctyl phthalate on fresh water fish Clarias batrachus. The 96 hour LC50 of Dioctyl phthalate in Clarias batrachus was estimated as 14.5ml/L. Histopathological changes in liver of Clarias batrachus were determined by exposing them to a fraction of LC50(1/5th) dose with every change of water for 30 days. The liver of Clarias batrachus was excised at every interval of 30 days and histological changes of liver were studied under light microscopy. Liver tissues showed abnormalities. Centrilobular vacuolation, necrosis, eccentric nuclei and enlarged nuclei, Centrilobular degeneration of hepatocytes were observed in liver tissue of fish.
