Objective: The aim of this research article is to develop and evaluate herbal antiaging cream using Annona squamosa leaf extract because of its antioxidant potential. Method: Free radical scavenging activity of Annona squamosa aqueous was determined by DPPH method. 0.5 ml of each solution of concentration of sample was added to 3 ml of 0.004% ethanolic DPPH free radical solution. After 30 minutes the absorbance of the preparations were taken at 517 nm by a UV spectrophotometer which was compared with the corresponding absorbance of standard ascorbic acid. The qualitative phytochemical analysis of Annona squamosa (custard apple) leaf extract shows the presence of flavonoids, tannins, alkaloids and phenols and absence of terpenoids and steroids Results: Formulation A3 shows good DPPH scavenging activity as compare to formulation A1 and A2 and ascorbic acid. Formulation A3 is stable for 3 months. Conclusion: Due to high antioxidant values of Annona squamosa it is concluded that it is possible to develop anti-aging cream using aqueous extract of Annona squamosa leaf.

Introduction: Novel Therapeutic Phytochemical studies are based on the use of plants in the production of drugs. This present study was carried out to the screening of phytochemicals and quantitative analysis, to assess In-vitro Antioxidant activities of the hydroethanolic leaf extract of Caesalpinia pulcherrima. FT-IR and GC-MS analysis of hydroethanolic leaf extract of Caesalpinia pulcherrima. Methods: The investigation of qualitative and determination of quantitative phytochemical analysis were performed using standard procedures. The total alkaloid, flavonoid, phenols, and tannin content were determined spectrophotometrically. DPPH (2,2-Diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) free radical scavenging activity, ABTS (2,2’-azino-bis (3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6- sulfonic acid) free radical scavenging activity of hydroethanolic leaf extract of Caesalpinia pulcherrima was estimated by standard protocol. The identification of functional groups using plant leaf extracts by FTIR and GCMS. Results: The hydroethanolic leaf extract of Caesalpinia pulcherrima gives positive results for alkaloids, flavonoids, phenols, carbohydrates, tannins, amino acids, and proteins. The content of total alkaloids, flavonoids, phenols, and tannins varies from 8.4 AE/g, 3.3 CE/g, 2.9, and 3.2 GAE/g respectively. The antioxidant assay and IC50 values were found to be DPPH (43.3µg/ml), ABTS (46.1µg/ml), and ascorbic acid (41µg/ml), respectively and concentration ranging from 20 to 100µgml. Functional groups were also identified using the extract by FTIR and GCMS. Conclusions: From this work, it can be concluded that the presence of Phyto-component makes the plant useful in the treatment of various diseases. As such, it has been found that the hydroethanolic leaf extract of the plant contains more components and is beneficial for further research.

Objective: Mimosa pudica is a traditional medicinal plant. The natural antioxidant compounds from plants mop up the free radicals causing cell damage and maintain the biological systems. The aim of the present study is to evaluate the free radical scavenging potential of the ethanolic and aqueous thorn extracts of M. pudica.Methods: The ethanolic and aqueous thorn extracts of M. pudica were analyzed for the phytochemicals and for free radical scavenging activity by 1, 1 diphenyl 1-2-picric hydrazine (DPPH), 2, 2’-azinobis-3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid (ABTS), and nitric oxide free radical scavenging method.Results: Flavonoids, saponins, glycosides, alkaloids, terpenoids, and coumarins were the phytoconstituents revealed in ethanolic and aqueous thorn extracts of M. pudica. At 250 μg/mL concentrations, aqueous thorn extracts of M. pudica exhibited 73.41% radical scavenging activity by DPPH method and 26.10% inhibition by nitric oxide free radical scavenging method. However, the ethanolic extracts of M. pudica thorns exhibited 73.35% inhibition by ABTS free radical scavenging method at 250 μg/mL concentrations.Conclusion: The results obtained suggest that the plant extracts from M. pudica could serve as a potential source of antioxidant in slowing down the process of aging and age-related or oxidative stress-related degenerative diseases. Moreover, the isolation of bioactive principle responsible for the antioxidant activity and formulation of novel therapeutic agents can be further studied.

We investigated the aqueous and ethanolic extracts of different forms (local names:muraandchora) of turmeric(Curcuma longa)from the Khulna and Chittagong divisions of Bangladesh for their antioxidant properties and polyphenol, flavonoid, tannin, and ascorbic acid contents. The antioxidant activity was determined using the 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) free radical-scavenging activity and ferric reducing antioxidant power (FRAP) values. The ethanolic extract of Chittagong’s mura contained the highest concentrations of polyphenols (16.07%), flavonoids (9.66%), and ascorbic acid (0.09 mg/100 g) and chora resulted in high yields (17.39%). The ethanolic extract of Khulna’s mura showed a higher DPPH radical-scavenging activity with the lowest 50% inhibitory concentration (IC50) (1.08 μg/mL), while Khulna’s chora had the highest FRAP value (4204.46±74.48 μM Fe[II]per 100 g). Overall, the ethanolic extract had higher antioxidant properties than those in the aqueous extract. However, the tannin concentration was lower in the ethanolic extract. We conclude that the turmeric varieties investigated in this study are useful sources of natural antioxidants, which confer significant protection against free radical damage.

Objective: In the present study, antioxidant activity in the leaf of the pet-ether, chloroform, acetone and methanolic extracts from Litsea laevigata Gamble. Leaf was investigated by employing established in vitro studies. L. laevigata belongs to the Lauraceae family. Methods: The capability of the plant extract to act as hydrogen/electrons donor or scavenger of radicals were determined by in vitro antioxidant assays using 2,2-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl free radical (DPPH.) scavenging, reducing power assay, superoxide radical (O2*-) scavenging activity, phosphomolybdenum assay, FRAP, ABT and metal chelating activity were performed to know the antioxidant potency of the plant extract of leaves of L. laevigata. Results: Results are evaluated higher in leaf extract of L. laevigata recorded total phenol, total flavonoid, and tannin. The present state of work was designed to evaluate the phytochemical, antioxidant in the plant leaf extracts of L. laevigata. The plant L. laevigata methanolic extract of leaf showed greater IC50 antioxidant activity of DPPH assay (5.264 µg/ml) and compare to other extract, higher phosphomolybdenum reduction (164.36 mg/g), better Reducing power activity leaf in methanol (0.711%), higher ferric reducing power (4060.66MmolFe(II)E/mg), and higher in superoxide radical scavenging activity in (78.12 mg/ml). However, the better metal chelating ability was shown by the water extracts of the leaf (5.145 EDTAE/100g) compared to other solvent extracts. Conclusion: The result indicates the total phenol and antioxidant activity potential of L. laevigata.

In this study, total polyphenols content (TPC) and ascorbic acid content (AAC) in CAW were quantified. Total antioxidant activity, reducing capacity, and free radical scavenging activity of CAW were assayed. The TPC and AAC were 160 mg GAE /100ml and 132 mg/100 ml,respectivity. CAW exhibited effective antioxidant activities in the employed in vitro experiments, including total antioxidant activity, reducing capacity, and free radical scavenging activity, which indicates that phenolic compounds and ascorbic acid may play a key role in the antioxidant function of CAW.
