Abstract Various human activities have led to the consumption of large quantities of pure water, which has led researchers to find efficient and economical methods for desalinating seawater and water containing impurities. In this review paper, solar energy where it is permanent, abundant and environmentally friendly, to produce pure water was discussed using a new solar distillation device, representing the paper’s novelty. The distillation was designed and used in the way led to increase efficiency and improve productivity by adding a solar collector to the system and equipped with a tank containing phase change material (PCM). It has a low melting point and can change the phase by absorbing the system’s latent heat to maintain the system’s temperature. Which contributes to increasing the distillation period even after sunset, thus increasing the daily productivity of freshwater. Using phase change materials will increase distillation hours from (3-4) hours after sunset, increasing the amount of production between (75 - 90) %.

When focusing on materials science in civil engineering, the current trend is to investigate the use of innovative solutions in order to enhance thermal and energy performances. This trend is amplified with the need for a sustainable development strategy for the construction sector. This paper assesses the integration of a Phase Change Material (PCM) in cement intended for building construction. The key characteristic of PCMs is their capacity to absorb energy and restore it. In building construction, this feature could be harnessed to save energy by incorporating PCMs in the materials used. In this study, passive integration of PCM in cement was tested and thermal properties of such an integration was assessed. The results provide insights into how PCMs affect cement as part of the concrete mixture, thus identifying the contribution of PCM-based cements in concrete mixtures.

Design of a novel initialization circuit is presented in this paper. The initialization circuit is used to supply initialization current to the first test of phase change memory chip after delivery. Inhomogeneous crystalline grain sizes appear in phase change materials used in memory cells during manufacturing process. The crystalline phase with low resistance will convert to amorphous phase with high resistance after initialization, which is called RESET the memory cells to 0. Normal RESET operation current is not high enough to RESET great grain, which deteriorates bit yield of phase change memory chip. In comparison, the higher initialization current will increase bit yield observably.

the experiments set up a roof model with a solar energy heat storage ventilation. According to the actual demands of experiments, through an economic analysis it results the preliminary investment of the solar energy storage ventilationthe system is between 307~367Yuan/m2 by calculating a energy balance in some way and choosing some type of heat storage phase change materials with a suitable quantity to fit for the model.
