This research is based on facts in schools on implementing Kurtilas, students are demanded to think more scientific. Kurtilas is concerned about critical thinking skill of mathematics for solving problems. To gain increased on critical thinking skill of Mathematics, the researcher used Metaphorical Thinking by Deskriptif Kualitatif method. This research was conducted at SMPN 22 Depok and used VII grade as the research samples. The qualitative data was gained from trying out the result of students critical thinking skill of mathematics. The research result shows that Metaphorical Thinking Approach can increase critical thinking skill of mathematics of junior high school students on the triangular material.

This study aimed to investigate impact the science process skill-based learning on critical thinking skills of Junior High School students. Subjects were eighth grade students of Rengel Junior High School 1 that were selected by purposive random sampling. Measurement data by means of science process skills test and critical thinking skill test was analyzed by using inferential statistical one-tailed t-test and linear regression. The results showed that implementation of science process skill-based learning was effective to improve the critical thinking skill of Junior High School student

This Mathematics critical thinking skill is one of the components a student must possess. This skill will assist them to be able to make the right decision. In fact, however, not many of them having a high of critical thinking skill. It causes them to be lack of skills in completing the mathematics cases. This research aims to: (1) describe the critical thinking skills of junior high school students in solving mathematical problems and (2) identify the students' critical thinking components in the focus, reason, inference, situation, clarity, dan overview. This was descriptive research with a qualitative approach. This research involved 32 subjects comprising 15 male students and 17 female students. The method used in this research is test, interview, and triangulation. The test used in this research consisted of 6 problems representing 6 sub-skills of critical thinking skills. The results of data collection were analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings showed that: (1) the critical thinking skills of junior high school students were in a low category; (2) overview became the lowest critical thinking sub-skills mastered by the students compared to other critical thinking sub-skills

Kata Kunci: realistik, kooperatif, RESIK The effectiveness of the realistic model in cooperative setting in terms of the attitude, motivation, and mathematical critical thinking skill of junior high school students AbstractThis research aimed to describe the effectiveness of the realistic model in cooperative setting (RESIK model) in terms of the attitude, motivation, and mathematical critical thinking skill of junior high school students. This research was a quasi experimental study using pretest-posttest non equivalent group design. In this study, two experimental groups were used. Population of research covered the whole number of six classes of grade VII student of SMPN 1 Selong, Lombok Timur, NTB. There were three different tests used to examine the data. One sample t-test at a significance level of 5% was used to examine the effectiveness of learning using RESIK model and conventional approach in terms of the aspect of students’ attitude toward mathematics, mathematics learning motivation, and mathematical critical thinking skill. Then the data was analyzed using T2 Hotteling test at significance level of 5% to compare the effectiveness of RESIK model and conventional approach, and the last test was by using t-univariat test to determine which approach was more effective. The result indicates that both RESIK model and conventional approach in learning mathematics were effective in terms of the aspect of students’ attitude toward mathematics, mathematics learning motivation, and mathematical critical thinking skill at grade VII of SMPN 1 Selong. RESIK model more effective than conventional model in terms of the aspect of students’ attitude toward mathematics, mathematics learning motivation, and mathematical critical thinking skill. Keywords: realistic, cooperative, RESIK

Critical thinking is one of the 21st Century skills involved in education and is required of students nowadays. The study investigated the critical thinking skills of Junior high school students from three selected public schools in Region 3, Luzon, Philippines.  Infusion of the critical thinking in Chemistry through selected teaching strategies of inquiry-based, problem solving, collaborative, and lecture methods. CEU-Lopez Critical Thinking Skills Test (2012) with a reliability test value of 0.87 was used to measure the students’ critical thinking skill levels. Triangulation of inquiry-based teaching, problem solving, and collaborative teaching methods was used as an intervention to determine the enhancement of the respondents’ critical thinking skills and academic performance. Gathered data were processed statistically through descriptive and inferential tests.  Results revealed that there is a significant difference in the critical thinking skill levels of Junior high school students in Chemistry. The critical thinking skill levels of the student respondents were highly comparable with respect on their academic performance in Chemistry.  The students demonstrated good knowledge, attitude and performance in Chemistry after the infusion of the critical thinking approach in the intervention. The different teaching strategies utilized in the research were applicable in the enhancement of the critical thinking skills of the Junior high school students in Chemistry.
