This Mathematics critical thinking skill is one of the components a student must possess. This skill will assist them to be able to make the right decision. In fact, however, not many of them having a high of critical thinking skill. It causes them to be lack of skills in completing the mathematics cases. This research aims to: (1) describe the critical thinking skills of junior high school students in solving mathematical problems and (2) identify the students' critical thinking components in the focus, reason, inference, situation, clarity, dan overview. This was descriptive research with a qualitative approach. This research involved 32 subjects comprising 15 male students and 17 female students. The method used in this research is test, interview, and triangulation. The test used in this research consisted of 6 problems representing 6 sub-skills of critical thinking skills. The results of data collection were analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings showed that: (1) the critical thinking skills of junior high school students were in a low category; (2) overview became the lowest critical thinking sub-skills mastered by the students compared to other critical thinking sub-skills

The study was conducted to develop science module based on project-based learning that is feasible to be implemented in science learning and has potency to build critical thinking skills of junior high school students. The study was Research and Development (RD), modified from Borg Gall steps covering only research and information collecting, planning, preliminary form of product development, expert judgment, product revision, and final product. The subjects were 2 expert lecturers (content expert and media expert) and 2 science teachers of SMP N 1 Wonosari. The types of data were quantitative and qualitative. Data were collected by means of SSP validation sheets and disaster preparedness identification sheets. The techniques of data analysis were descriptive analysis of qualitative and quantitative to 5 grading scale. The result of the study shows that science module is feasible to be implemented in science learning and has potency to build critical thinking skills of junior high school students.

Critical thinking is one of the 21st Century skills involved in education and is required of students nowadays. The study investigated the critical thinking skills of Junior high school students from three selected public schools in Region 3, Luzon, Philippines.  Infusion of the critical thinking in Chemistry through selected teaching strategies of inquiry-based, problem solving, collaborative, and lecture methods. CEU-Lopez Critical Thinking Skills Test (2012) with a reliability test value of 0.87 was used to measure the students’ critical thinking skill levels. Triangulation of inquiry-based teaching, problem solving, and collaborative teaching methods was used as an intervention to determine the enhancement of the respondents’ critical thinking skills and academic performance. Gathered data were processed statistically through descriptive and inferential tests.  Results revealed that there is a significant difference in the critical thinking skill levels of Junior high school students in Chemistry. The critical thinking skill levels of the student respondents were highly comparable with respect on their academic performance in Chemistry.  The students demonstrated good knowledge, attitude and performance in Chemistry after the infusion of the critical thinking approach in the intervention. The different teaching strategies utilized in the research were applicable in the enhancement of the critical thinking skills of the Junior high school students in Chemistry.

The ability to think critically is one of the highest levels of ability. Developing critical thinking skills in students is still considered important to be improved in schools so that students are able and accustomed to facing various problems around it. This study aims to analyze the critical thinking skills of junior high school students who are in excellent classes and regular classes. This research was conducted in Bandung Barat. In this study students are given a test in the form of questions with critical thinking skills, the problem is used to compare between the superior class and ordinary class. Assessment of the problem using several factors of critical ability include 1) students can not understand the problem correctly, 2) students rush in doing the problem, 3) the students cannot choose the problem-solving strategy correctly and 4) the students work on the problem systematically. Then the matter of critical thinking skills of mathematics is analyzed using quasi-experimental research method to analyze students' critical thinking ability that influence learning result. This study shows the differences in critical thinking ability of junior high school students who are in excellent class and ordinary class. This study shows that superior classes are better in mathematical critical thinking ability than a regular class. The results of this study can add knowledge about critical thinking mathematics junior high school students who are in the class and ordinary class and used to facilitate for educational practitioners in the development of critical mathematical thinking skills.

This study aimed to investigate impact the science process skill-based learning on critical thinking skills of Junior High School students. Subjects were eighth grade students of Rengel Junior High School 1 that were selected by purposive random sampling. Measurement data by means of science process skills test and critical thinking skill test was analyzed by using inferential statistical one-tailed t-test and linear regression. The results showed that implementation of science process skill-based learning was effective to improve the critical thinking skill of Junior High School student
