scholarly journals Loving GOD, Loving Others: The Evil of Hatred by Accidental Differences in Humankind

The rise of ideologies in the West that promote prejudicial treatment of others based on accidental (humanly uncontrollable) features (distinguishing ethnic physical traits, geographic origin, physical or mental capacities, or native cultures, viz., Western Civilization, that in all of its vicissitudes, has produced distinctive behavioral, socio-religious, and intellectual norms) is an illogical, cruel, and nationally  self-destructive worldview that must be exposed and rejected. The premise of “races” of human beings (Caucasian race, negroid race, mongoloid race, etc.) , rather than the “race of Mankind,” male and female, all originating from a common set of ancestors, created by God, with “in-species” genetic variety (e.g., melanin production creating darker or lighter skin color) is not only unsupported by the teachings of the Old and New Testaments, but singled out as sins against God. The author examines a recent case of a medical doctor dreaming of murdering white people. The statement is considered from both scientific and spiritual viewpoints. The author cites personal experience in the United States military, as well as peer-reviewed articles, to establish the hypothesis that the rise of violent tribalism (“Balkanization”) produces Socialistic authoritarianism, which forcibly reunites divided “tribes” under the flag of autocratic rule. This opinion-editorial article concludes by asserting that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the powerful antidote that liberates people from this pestilent consequences of original sin to discover authentic fraternity in our common Imago Dei (the image of God in Man), and transformative freedom from the effects of the Fall, i.e., to embrace and be embraced by a divine love that transcends our sin. Only in knowing such love can we be free from the hatred that divides, the bitterness that excludes, and the pain and sorrow that inevitably follows.

This chapter moves into the political and economic aspects of human nature. Given scarcity and interdependence, what sense has Judaism made of the material well-being necessary for human flourishing? What are Jewish attitudes toward prosperity, market relations, labor, and leisure? What has Judaism had to say about the political dimensions of human nature? If all humans are made in the image of God, what does that original equality imply for political order, authority, and justice? In what kinds of systems can human beings best flourish? It argues that Jewish tradition shows that we act in conformity with our nature when we elevate, improve, and sanctify it. As co-creators of the world with God, we are not just the sport of our biochemistry. We are persons who can select and choose among the traits that comprise our very own natures, cultivating some and weeding out others.

Gandhiji’s method of conflict resolution was based on truth and non-violence. Truth was for him the image of God. He did not believe in personal God. For Gandhi truth is God and God is truth. Life is a laboratory where experiments are carried on. That is why he named his autobiography “My Experiment with Truth”, without these experiments truth cannot be achieved. According to Gandhi, the sayings of a pure soul which possesses nonviolence, non-stealing, true speech, celibacy and non-possession is truth. The truth of Gandhiji was not confined to any country or community. In other words , his religion had no geographical limits. His patriotism was not different from the service of human beings but was its part and parcel(Mishra:102). Gandhiji developed an integral approach and perspective to the concept of life itself on the basis of experience and experiments. His ideas ,which came to be known to be his philosophy, were a part of his relentless search for truth(Iyer:270). The realization of this truth is possible only with the help of non-violence The negative concept of Ahimsa presupposes the absence of selfishness, jealousy and anger, but the positive conception of ahimsa demands the qualities of love ,liberalism, patience, resistance of injustice, and brutal force.

Prior research among military personnel has indicated that sexual harassment, stalking, and sexual assault during military service are related to negative health sequelae. However, research specific to LGBT U.S. service members is limited. The current study aimed to explore the health, service utilization, and service-related impact of stalking and sexual victimization experiences in a sample of active-duty LGBT U.S. service members ( N = 248). Respondent-driven sampling was used to recruit study participants. U.S. service members were eligible to participate if they were 18 years or older and active-duty members of the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps, or U.S. Air Force. This study included a sizeable portion of transgender service members ( N = 58, 23.4%). Sociodemographic characteristics, characteristics of military service, health, and sexual and stalking victimization in the military were assessed. Regression was used to examine relationships between health and service outcomes and sexual and stalking victimization during military service. Final adjusted models showed that experiencing multiple forms of victimization in the military increased the odds of visiting a mental health clinician and having elevated somatic symptoms, posttraumatic stress disorder symptomatology, anxiety, and suicidality. Sexual and stalking victimization during U.S. military service was statistically significantly related to the mental and physical health of LGBT U.S. service members. Interventions to reduce victimization experiences and support LGBT U.S. service members who experience these types of violence are indicated. Research that examines the role of LGBT individuals’ experiences and organizational and peer factors, including social support, leadership characteristics, and institutional policies in the United States military is needed.
