Varix of intraabdominal part of fetal umbilical vein is during a prenatal ultrasound scan seen as a hypoechogenic mass between anterior abdominal wall and lower edge of liver, and the diagnosis is confirmed when blood flow is seen during color Doppler examination. A case of prenatal diagnosis of this abnormality is presented, with review of contemporary literature regarding diagnosis and management as well as the outcome of such pregnancies.

A case of prenatal diagnosis of the corpus callosum lipoma at 32–33 weeks of gestation is presented. In a consultative examination, a hyperechoic formation with clear contours was found in the projection of the septum pellucidum, occupying the rostrum, genu, and truncus of corpus callosum, without signs of intratumorally blood flow in the color Doppler mapping mode. The prenatal diagnosis of "callosum lipoma" was established, confirmed after the birth of a child during magnetic resonance imaging.

We report a case of capillary hemangioma of the scrotum. A 52-year-old male presented with a left scrotum swelling that had arisen suddenly two months before. Scrotal ultrasound revealed a dishomogeneous mass in the left scrotum. The mass demonstrated blood flow in the color Doppler mode. Scrotal mass excision was performed. Pathological evaluation revealed a capillary hemangioma.

We employed color Doppler score as an innovative approach for the prenatal diagnosis and monitoring of a large placental chorioangioma case diagnosed at 26 weeks and the subjective semiquantitative assessment of the vascularization. The blood flow was assessed by a color Doppler score based on the intensity of the color signal with the following value ranges: (1) no flow, (2) minimal flow, (3) moderate flow, and (4) high vascular flow. Weekly examinations were programmed. Initially, a color Doppler score 3 was assigned, remaining unchanged at the following two exams and decreasing to Score 2 in the following 2 exams and to Score 1 thereafter. The ultrasonographic scan showed an increase of the mass size at the second and third exams and was followed by an arrest of the growth persisting for the rest of the pregnancy. Some hyperechogenic spots inside the mass appeared at the end. Expectant management was opted for, and the delivery was at 39, 2 weeks and maternal and fetal outcomes were favourable. The color Doppler score employed for assessment of vascularization in successive examinations proved to be an important tool for the prediction of the chorioangioma involution, and this new approach of monitoring allowed effective surveillance and successful tailored management.

We present a review of the literature and own case report of prenatal diagnosis of epignatus at 31 week of gestation. Ultrasound of the fetus revealed a massive formation of solid structure of the blubber of the mouth. The size of epignatus was 3,0  3,0  2,8 cm, intratumoral blood flow was not determined, the amount of amniotic fluid was normal. With the progression of pregnancy the tumor size has not increased. After the birth the neonate was an independent breath. Carried out surgical treatment with a positive effect. The diagnosis of epignatus confirmed by histological examination.

Supraspinatus calcifying tendinosis is an uncommon finding in dogs. Although its radiographic appearance has been described previously, radiographs alone do not provide detailed information about the tendon parenchyma. Tendon ultrasonography has been widely applied for the diagnosis of human tendinosis, but it remains underused in dogs. This article reviews the ultrasonographic technique and variable appearance of canine supraspinatus calcifying tendinosis observed in 33 tendons. The ultrasonographic findings are described. The most common ultrasonographic finding was a hyperechoic area accompanied by distal acoustic shadowing. No relationship with bicipital tenosynovitis was found. A color Doppler examination was possible in only five of the tendons, revealing no blood flow in those tendons. There was evidence that the presence of a hypoechoic area surrounding the calcification was related to clinical signs of pain, suggesting an active inflammatory process. Ultrasonography was an excellent technique to evaluate lesions of the supraspinatus tendon and it revealed details not apparent on radiographs.

Umbilical cord hemangiomas are rare tumors of the umbilical cord. Doppler ultrasound has been shown to be useful in the diagnosis of cord hemangioma and evaluation of arterial blood flow through the mass. In this study, we present a 28-year-old pregnant woman with an umbilical cord mass with solid and cystic components. She was followed with weekly umbilical artery (UA) Doppler ultrasound, but the fact that the umbilical vein (UV) ran in the wall of the mass was not noted prospectively. At the time of placental delivery, the cystic component of the mass ruptured tearing the UV causing significant bleeding. The case illustrates the importance of using Doppler ultrasound to both look for UA compromise and to map the UV location through the entirety of the cord.

The state of regional blood flow in 65 patients before and after endoscopic myomectomy was studied using modem methods such as Doppler examination and color Doppler sonography. It was determined that blood flow velocity indeces obtained during the Doppler examination of myoma vessels and uterine arteries allow to estimate the morphological structure of myomas uninvasively and can be used to define the indications for conservative endoscopic surgical procedures in patients with myoma uteri. Doppler monitoring of regional blood flow during postoperative period makes it possible to evaluate the effectiveness of surgical treatment previously performed.
