All optical tri-state frequency encoded logic gates NOT and NAND are proposed and numerically investigated using TOAD based interferometric switch for the first time to the best of our knowledge. The optical power spectrum, extinction ratio, contrast ration, and amplified spontaneous noise are calculated to analyze and confirm practical feasibility of the gates. The proposed device works for low switching energy and has high contrast and extinction ratio as indicated in this work.

The well‐known instability of Kunetz’s (1963) inversion algorithm can be explained by the progressive manner in which the calculations are done (descending from the surface) and by the fact that completely different impedances can yield indistinguishable synthetic seismograms. Those difficulties can be overcome by using an iterative algorithm for the inversion of the one‐dimensional (1-D) wave equation, together with a stabilizing constraint on the sums of the jumps of the desired impedance. For computational efficiency, the synthetic seismogram is computed by the method of characteristics, and the gradient of the error criterion is computed by optimal control techniques (adjoint state equation). The numerical results on simulated data confirm the expected stability of the algorithm in the presence of measurement noise (tests include noise levels of 50 percent). The inversion of two field sections demonstrates the practical feasibility of the method and the importance of taking into account all internal as well as external multiple reflections. Reflection coefficients obtained by this method show an excellent agreement with well‐log data in a case where standard estimation techniques [deconvolution of common‐depth‐point (CDP) stacked and normal‐moveout (NMO) correction section] failed.

The article analyzes the peculiarities of applying a measure of procedural coercion in the form of detention in the criminal procedural legislation of the Republic of Belarus, as well as in the criminal process of Ukraine and the Republic of Kazakhstan. The positions of scientists in the field of criminal procedure, who conducted research on this issue, are analyzed. The key positions of the proceduralists regarding the basic regulatory aspects of the application of a preventive measure in the form of detention are considered. Attention is focused on the fundamental provisions of the functioning of the system of procedural compulsion and the application of a preventive measure in the form of detention in custody in particular. The analysis of the positions of the legislators of the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan and Ukraine regarding the issue of normative regulation of the procedure for applying a measure of procedural coercion in the form of detention is carried out. The authors of the article emphasize the key aspect of the preventive measure in the form of detention in the form of its extraordinary impact on the observance of human and civil rights and freedoms in criminal proceedings. This circumstance is especially relevant in respect of the right of participants in criminal proceedings to freedom and personal inviolability. In this regard, theoretical concepts are considered and the content of international law on this issue is analyzed. The practical feasibility and normative possibility of using other, more humane methods of influencing suspects accused in criminal proceedings are analyzed. The article focuses on the normative procedure for the application of bail as an alternative procedural measure of isolating a person during detention in the legislation of the above states. The article analyzes the procedural features of the normative regulation of the use of pledge in the legislation of Ukraine and the Republic of Kazakhstan. The author's position on these issues, as well as proposals for optimizing the criminal procedural legislation of the Republic of Belarus regarding the regulation of the use of detention are formulated.

The inner cascaded structure-based grid-forming control is a typical solution used to impose an AC voltage magnitude across the output filters of the power inverters. Yet, because of the limited inverter’s bandwidth resulting from the low-switching frequencies in transmission systems, the interaction (i.e., coupling) between control loops is highly likely making the understanding of the system behavior complex and its simplification unaffordable and may also lead to instabilities. The novelty of this paper consists in proposing a simple open-loop direct voltage control to reduce the number of the inner control regulators, and thereby guaranteeing a decoupling between the inner and outer control layers as well as increasing the system stability margin. This statement is well supported with a small-signal analysis and progressive order model reduction of the system. The overall concept is validated in a 10-bus grid case while comparing the EMT and Phasor-based simulations. The practical feasibility of the control itself is experimentally proved with different test cases.

In collaboration with FHWA, the Minnesota Department of Transportation (Mn/DOT) has successfully completed its first experimental high-performance concrete pavement (HPCP) project under the Testing and Evaluation Program (TE-30). This project is one of the 22 projects funded under the TE-30 Program. With a structural design life of 60 years, this HPCP is unique in that it incorporates significant changes to the existing Mn/DOT specifications on concrete materials. Some of the new materials-related specifications developed as a part of this project are based on performance criteria that influence long-term durability of the pavement structure. The background and considerations for selecting the new performance measures are discussed, and test results are presented that evaluate the practical feasibility of establishing and achieving the performance specifications.
