Work-Life Balance of Women Employees in Service sector: A Pilot Study

An employed mother is carrying the pains of her child crying at home till she returns at home indicating separation anxiety; a Father is stressed on the work spot resulting of his known negligence for his family. It has a great influence on overall quality of life.  Of course the art of doing lies in balancing among work, non-work and family aspects of life. Work and quality of life: QWL provides for the balanced relationship among work, non-work and family life should not be strained by working hours, including business travel, transfers, vacations etc. The research study was focused on Women Employee Work-Life Balance of service sector namely Academics, Banks and Health care sector of Aurangabad Region on a pilot study basis . An Attempt was done to study the existence of work-life balance problem among the working women in the specified area which can be executed on a large sample later on. It was tried to examine how the factors affecting work-life balance influence quality of life of married working women.

The role of working women has changed throughout the world due to economic conditions and social demands. This has resulted in a scenario in which working women have tremendous pressure to develop a career as robust as their male counterparts while sustaining active engagement in personal life. The ever-increasing work pressure is taking a ring on the working women leaving them with less time for themselves. The increasing responsibilities on the personal front with the technological blessings like advanced mobile phones, notepads, etc. that keeps work life integrated with personal life also creates stress on personal and professional fronts in this knowledge age. This affects the person’s physical, emotional and social well-being. Thus, achieving work life balance is a necessity for working women to have a good quality of life. This paper is an attempt to explore the tough challenges faced by working women in maintaining a balance between their personal and professional life. The various factors affecting the work-life balance of married working women have been examined in this study. The tool used for the study is the manual on work–life balance of The Industrial Society. Data were subjected to descriptive statistics and it was found that the problems faced by the working women of Pune Maharashtra state in terms of work-life balance are quite high. The results also indicate that the work-life balance of individuals affect their quality of life.

Working is the main goal of someone in achieving self-actualization of their potential. Life in the workplace, work and family, work and personal fulfillment, work and social life, all illustrate the problem of a harmonious and balanced arrangement between work and other lives. In addition, the balance of employees at work and living quality of life is also the focus of company attention that will make employees more satisfied in carrying out each work. The company realizes the success of employees in working through achieving targets with exceptional performance, not solely because of the skills and competencies that employees have, but equally important is the balance of the employee in managing his personal quality of life with work demands. This research is a quantitative descriptive study. To measure the effect of Work-life Balance on Job Satisfaction, multiple linear regression methods are used with 55 respondents. The results of research that have been carried out that the variables in this study consisted of PLIW and WIPL which were stated to have a significant effect, as well as PLEW and WEPL which were stated to have no significant effect 91,4% of the Job Satisfaction of English Jogja Homes. Work life balance is the current issues with everyone. This topic is attracting many now a day. Everyone has to accept that profession is a part in our lives; it is not possible to lead life without any earning. Interest in work and family matters has arisen on account of changes in the way in which work has been defined and it has been fuelled by mechanization and modernization of production processes, industrialization and the entry of increasing numbers of women in to the world of paid work. In a Developing Country like India the issue of work life balance is a matter of concern. These days you cannot find a field where women have no entrance. Recently women have much more reach in the in every field of Business. They are proving to be the best in their respective fields. Previously she used to be a more house wife and less professional. But after the reforms in 1991 the scenario has changed as the India economy is liberalized. Because of necessity and the desire to augment income, both the spouses started working. This has raised curtains to new problems to the working women community. Today's career women are continually challenged by the demands of full-time work and when the day is done at the office, they carry more of the responsibilities and commitments at home. So a great need has aroused to balance both. Initially this is the problem of working women only. But now a days this is an issue which has been taken seriously even by the companies. The reason behind this is that women have proved equal to that of the men counterpart. So the human resource professionals are seeking options to positively impact the bottom line of their companies, improving employee morale, retain employees with valuable company knowledge, and keep pace with workplace trends. So, this paper concentrates on few issues like how does women balance her work with life at home? How is she managing all these responsibilities? What type of support she is getting from the family members and from the employer? Like this we can have many questions to ask. Let us see how the IT and ITES women employees are handling the issue of Work Life Balance.

Background/Objectives: The interest in work-life balance has increased in Korea since the low birthrate problem intensified in the 2000s, and recently, a 52-hour workweek has been implemented depending on the size of the company to ensure work-life balance. Companies are also adopting the direction and policies of the government to spread job redesign or organizational culture that can bring work-life balance. Work-life balance is seen as a paradigm for high performance in modern society. Activation of smart work, which is a system that can work anytime and anywhere without being bound by time and place, is inevitable. It is assumed that the quality of life of the members of the organization will be improved through smartwork activation, and that the improvement of the quality of life will soon increase the organizational performanceMethods/Statistical analysis: This study utilizes the original data from the 2018 Smartwork Survey conducted by the Korea Information Society Agency, targeting employees of businesses with five or more business units and CEOs of businesses or heads of departments responsible for introducing and operating smart work. The survey collected samples using stratified sampling methods, and the survey was conducted online and in writing to 1,700 people from October 8, 2018 for 27 days. Finally, 566 data were hypothesized through SPSS 21.0 and AMOS structural model analysis.Findings: As a result of analyzing the effect of smart work on organizational performance through the effect of quality on life, Smartwork activation affects organizational performance, and the improvement of quality of life through time saving and work efficiency due to smartwork affects organizational performance. Managers' interest was found to play a moderating role in the structural relationship between smartwork activation, quality of life and organizational performance.Improvements/Applications: This study suggests smartwork activation by empirically analyzing the effect of smartwork activation on organizational performance by the mediating effect of quality of life for employees of companies working in smart office environment.
