A knowledge-based economy is one of the vital components of modern economies. Growth in most of the economies of the world, and most developed economies in particular, are increasingly based on knowledge. In a knowledge-based economy, economic development is dependent on investments in education, learning and training, among others. Universities are today becoming aware of the essential role that higher education plays in the construction of knowledge-based economies. The kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) has adopted the drive toward a knowledge-based economy through focusing on the higher education sector. Saudi Universities are playing a pivotal role toward the Kingdom's transition into a knowledge-based economy and hence achieving economic growth and development. The purpose of this paper is to critically examine the important role that universities play in building a knowledge-based economy through innovation, research commercialization, and technology transfer as economic development policies. The role of universities in building a knowledge-based economy in Saudi Arabia is also investigated. The paper confirms that Saudi universities are considered as a very important entity in the aim for the Saudi economy to achieve sustainable growth and development.

AbstractSince the beginning of the twenty-first century, the tarmac road network in Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region in northwest China has been greatly expanded. The total length of roads increased from about 30,000 kilometres in 1999 to more than 146,000 kilometres in 2008. Though roads are considered by the state to be instruments of economic development, in multi-ethnic border regions like Xinjiang, the role of an efficient road network in the construction of the Chinese state's imaginary ‘bounded space’ is arguably just as crucial. With the help of Lefebvre's (1991) and Soja's (1999) conceptualization of space, this article explores the multiple spatial figurations of which roads are a part in Xinjiang. The article starts from ‘the mappable’ dimension of the expanding road network, and moves on to discuss perceptions and representations related to this expansion, before finally discussing how individuals creatively explore its fissures and hidden pockets.

Ideas and beliefs play an important role in guiding human behavior. As culture has a clear impact on community development, intellectual change or cultural change will rebuild Saudi society. For this purpose, our study dealt with a presentation of the various previous studies that clarified the role of cultures in the development of society and whether change and diversity have a clear role in development. The study was based on a survey of a group of questions to members of the community where the questionnaire was distributed to the University community to take different views of gender. The study also focused on determining the role of cultural diversity and emerging from some old customs to achieve sustainable development which is represented in three main dimensions of economic development, social development and finally political development. Assumptions were analyzed using multiple regressions.

Business incubators are perceived to be a mainstay of economic development programs. They create value by combining the entrepreneurial drive of a startup with resources generally available to new ventures. Among the primary objectives of business incubators are creating employment opportunities in the local economy and commercializing technologies. Saudi government has put high-growth, innovative businesses at the heart of its economic agenda.The aim of this paper is to enhance understanding of how business incubators function and their impact on national development and growth of a developing nation. First, the paper reviews the literature on the relationship between business incubators and economic development; then the paper provides an analysis of the characteristics and objectives of business incubators in Saudi Arabia. The paper also examines the significant contribution of business incubators in promoting economic growth and development of Saudi Arabia. The paper points out the importance of introducing business incubator strategies and programs and the role of such important moves in ensuring sustainable value creation and building of wealth.

Abstract: In the modern days, the role of female entrepreneurship has been expanded in the market and they also play their essential role in the contribution in the economic development for their respective nations. The aim of the study is to analyse and investigate the role of female entrepreneurship in the development of the economic condition in Saudi Arabia. The introduction section mainly sheds light on the research aim, objective and the research questions in order to provide the abrupt understanding of the research. The section also provides the justification for the research along with the structure of the study. In addition to this, the research methodology section provides a complete understanding of the research philosophy, approach, and design and data collection method. Additionally, in this research, the data has been collected with the help of secondary research. In the data finding section, the research provides the different types of theme in order to highlight the role of female entrepreneurship in the development of the national economic condition. Entrepreneurship development by women's group has been one of the major realms that are adopted by various organisations all over the world. The presence of various traditional and cultural norms has restricted women from attaining entrepreneurship engagement for a successful business environment in the Saudi Arabian region. This is because the Saudi Arabian government has laid the Limited number of services that a woman can avail in the economic framework of the country. The study claims to identify the benefits and challenges that arise while reforming the existing architecture and economical background of Saudi Arabia to that of the women employment criteria in business operations. In other words, the facilitation of women to attain Entrepreneurship and self-governing business need to be attained in order to gain economic growth regarding the financial aspects of the country. The study considers several theoretical frameworks including the Krueger and Brazeal's model of entrepreneurship potential so as to investigate perceived official feasibility propensity to act and perceive desirability for women in employment. Deducing entrepreneur opportunities regarding women residing in the Saudi Arabian region has often been our challenging aspect as religious and cultural rights are post against women. However, the importance of including women in business has been observed to provide the country in attaining business growth in the Global region of operation. Similarly, the Saudi Arabian region upon having a strong oil refinery bass would also be required to make them self-independent of another business sector that is to be developed in that region. The study provides a detailed analysis through data collection from various samples in an exploratory way to reduce conclusions regarding the benefits of including women in entrepreneurship and development. In the conclusion and recommendation section the research draft the overall summary of the research and provide the objective linking. The objective linking helps the researcher to correlate with the section of the study and where the specified objective has been met. The research future scope and limitation has been providing that in future the research scholar needs to expand the research in the form of open-ended and interview questionnaires in order to collect the individual aspects regarding the topic. The recommendation has been provided to the authority and society so that they can able to promote the female entrepreneurship activities for the development of the national economic condition.
