The typology of cultures is one of the significant issues in the humanities and social studies, and it is becoming very important in the current era of globalization growth. The purpose of the present research is to analyze existing academic concepts and approaches towards cultures typology. The research is of an interdisciplinary nature and involves categories and concepts from philosophy, cultural studies, sociology, management, etc. There is presented a brief overview of cultures typology scientific concepts. The article reveals that notable researches follow dynamic approach towards cultures typology influenced by current globalization trends rather than static models of sociocultural systems typology. Currently, most of sociocultural systems have to adapt or transform in order to cope with globalization trends. Authors underline the need to change the paradigm of academic understanding of cultures typology and to update approaches for cultures typology model development. The authors presume that following the idea that the globalization core is coming from the Western civilization, the countries that push for technological revolution 4.0 are forced to focus on the centered ideological and semantic patterns where the Westerners could define points of demarcation with representatives of non-Western societies. This explains the tendency of comparative management theorists to measure the degree of cultural distance between countries. In this context, the theory of cultural and orientation values types seems to be one of the most promising methods of cultures typology.Following the structural-system approach, the authors determine a culture as a mega-system consisting of the main macro-systems (macro-cultures) and sub-systems (micro-cultures). The article stresses that globalization challenges push countries all over the world to think of the need to develop a common basis for mutual understanding. The authors suggest that the formation of a global network civilization as a mega-culture, in which the opportunities for communication between different cultures are more developed due to innovative technologies, should become a confident answer to existing global challenges.

The phenomenon of globalization is directly connected to the emergence of the global Network. National and political diversity in cyberspace fades into the background. Authenticity, self-identification of a person becomes secondary. The society determines the immersion of the individual in the virtual space and its functioning in this space. The transformation and development of humanities education is determined by the processes of informatization. The development of humanities education involves the implementation of the principle of openness of humanities education to social practices and the principle of its accessibility without age and geographical location. The introduction of info-telecommunications accelerates the creation of a single information space, provides access to the information resources. The development of humanities education is aimed at implementing an interdisciplinary approach that ensures the effectiveness of the development and application of humanitarian knowledge and form a conscious responsible choice in a variety of cultural meanings, cultural self-determination. It ensures the rigor and accuracy of the methodological and technical side of humanities education.

Multi-Method Analysis (MMA) can be understood as an interdisciplinary approach to the triangulation of research results or deepening of knowledge gained as a result of classical hypotheses testing by means of statistical analysis. In this case, the synergy effect obtained by using MMA as a combination of the quantitative (survey research) and qualitative (In-Depth Interviews – IDI) analysis is presented. To achieve the empirical bases of the study, a theoretical model is used as a marketing management example. The model refers to firm performance as a result of customer lifetime value management. The essence of the case study is to present the whole research to illustrate the researcher's way of thinking from conceptual model development through quantitative hypothesis testing and qualitative explanation. The research was conducted from 2012 – 2013 in the insurance industry in Poland.

We will argue that clarifying the “moral core” of consent offers a common metric by which we can evaluate how well different legal frameworks are able to protect the central moral rights and interests at stake. We begin by revisiting how legal frameworks for digital consent developed in order to see where there may be common moral ground and where these different cultures diverge on the issue of protection of personal information. We then turn to ethics to clarify the central interests and rights at stake in morally transformative consent, in order to provide a common basis for evaluating the different legal frameworks. Ultimately, we seek the moral core of digital consent in order to reimagine its role in international conflicts.

This paper reviews the literature relating to self service technologies (SST) with the purpose of building an accurate and clear picture of the most important aspects associated with this technology. It also reviews the literature on customer retention using SST. By examining studies of SST, it can be seen that many have examined SST from different perspectives (customers vs. organisations) in different contexts (banks, libraries, airlines, hotels and retailers) and in different cultures and countries (developed, developing). Thus, this chapter, after providing an overview of SST, discusses the topic from the organisational perspective by focusing on areas concerned with the contribution of SST to organisational performance (e.g. profitability, productivity, marketing relationship, service quality and cutting costs). A closer look at these studies clearly reveals the breadth and diversity of studies investigating SST from the customers’ perspective, whereby it is noteworthy that the majority have focused on examining the usage patterns of SST (e.g. behavioural intention, usage behaviour, adoption, future intention). Finally, this chapter examines the use of SST in banks to retain customers as well as the profitability of customer retention.

The subject of the article is “間 ma” − one of the main concepts of the Japanese culture and its verbalization in Japanese.Success in communication between representatives of different cultures is largely determined by the way they perceive spatial and temporal categories. Being culture-significant units, they play a special role in the process of speech communication.Dualistic spatial-temporal nature of “間 ma” concept, its abstractedness, spatial and temporal uncertainty makes its adaptation to Western categories difficult, but correlate to the fundamental concept of emptiness in Buddhist metaphysics. In the Japanese society an optimal relationship between an individual and the world around is being built on the basis of the “間 ma” concept. It becomes relevant in all spheres of Japanese cultural field: architecture, pictorial art, calligraphy, music, Japanese traditional performing arts, flower arrangement and garden design. A special attention in the article is given to the consideration of cultural and linguistic specifics of the “間 ma” concept, revealing itself in the semantics of linguistic units and largely determining the culture of Japanese verbal communication.Perception of this concept encourages shaping of culturally oriented approach to language teaching and overcoming cultural distance in communication with the Japanese.

Contemporary society is characterized by pluralism of relations and interconnection of different cultures. Because of diverse national, cultural, religious and political values, misunderstandings and lack of dialogue often emerge between members of different cultures. This has severe consequences for all segments of society and its development. In order to overcome this situation the concept of intercultural education in schools is becoming popular again. It should present the starting point for changes in the quality of dialogue, understanding and respect between pupils of different cultures and traditions. The paper discusses the realization of the concept of interculturalism in schools in order to create conditions for implementation of intercultural values, to encourage and educate pupils for co-existence, understanding and creation of intercultural relations. In this respect, changes in all aspects of school life and work are necessary, from the change of curriculum, school organization, to atmosphere and school culture as a whole. The authors conclude that humanistic, holistic and interdisciplinary approach as a basis for coexistence and tolerance provides enormous opportunities for implementation of the concept of interculturalism in school, but also point to the potentials of schools that are not used enough in the realization of this goal. The study findings indicate the need for systematic, continuous and adequate changes at the level of school culture as a whole.

The city of Berlin is often advertised as one of the most prominent creative cities today. In the past two decades, its marketing agencies have constructed a carefully crafted urban image designed to attract the young, mobile and creative workers that move the contemporary economy. To do that, they rely on cultural temporary uses that enable selected urban spaces to have the desired ‘cool’ and authentic ambiance that distinguishes this city from others within the competitive global network. This paper investigates the phenomenon of abundant street performers in the German capital to find out if and how these artists perceive their role and instrumentalisation within these creative policies. The field research carried out through the method of ethnography reveals that their understanding of their art as small resistances in urban space often clashes with their use in broader placemaking schemes that have negative consequences. The article begins with a discussion of creative policies in Berlin from an Urban Planning point of view, highlighting how it encourages the migration of young artists and creative professionals. It then analyses the definitions of busking in the existing literature in the Social Sciences to understand its potential as a builder of sociability. Moreover, it draws on theories that speak of the “looseness” of space and the idea of tactically appropriating a place through art to build an interdisciplinary approach between the different fields. Lastly, it presents the case study, using the performers’ own testimonials to draw conclusions about the temporary uses of urban space within a broader urban context.

The article presents the results of statistical processing of collocations for the word “individualism” obtained from the corpora of the Chinese and Russian languages. The software sorts the collocations of the selected word by frequency and classifies and compares high-frequency words by parts of speech. The concept of individualism is one of the cultural dimensions of the expression of values used in the socio-psychological and pedagogical fields. Using an interdisciplinary approach, the author analyzes the content of “individualism”, its features which are translated into the mass consciousness of the Chinese and Russians with the help of language. National culture influences the value orientations and linguistic consciousness of a particular nation. The current study of lexical units and their content in the minds of speakers of different languages is of great importance for cross- cultural communication. Comparing features of the content of the concept “individualism”, national and cultural specifics are also found with the Chinese and Russians. The examples demonstrate that the content of a specific concept in the minds of members of different cultures becomes more obvious as a result of the comparative study.
