IntroductionThe work describes a successful experience in the utilization of art as a tool to work the prevention of the use of drugs. The experience was developed with children and adolescents between the ages of 3 and 17 who reside in a risky area near Latin America's biggest dump, located in the city of Taguatinga, FD, Brazil.ObjectivesCreate a therapeutic space to make possible the dialog with the children and adolescents, promoting the prevention and the consciousness about the harm of the use of psychoactive substances, providing clarification on the theme, through art, being the use of formal language and terms, like “illicit drugs”, unnecessary.MethodsThe children, who participated in the project, used, as expression tool, several painting items. The use of psychoactive substances (PAS), legal or illegal, is one of the risk behaviors among children and adolescents and is associated with antisocial and / or delinquent behaviors, such as those that lead to infractions and, later, insertion in the Socio-educational system provided for in the Child and Adolescent Statute (ECA). These situations are grounds for discussion and concern for parents and educators. In order to plan an intervention aimed at prevention and / or return to socially accepted behaviors, it is necessary to know the pattern of alcohol and other drug use among adolescents. Thus, 15 inmates from a semi-liberty unit under the ECA participated in this study. The profile of adolescents was raised through the following instruments: AUDIT, Q_F, DUSI-R and ASSIST. It was concluded that the pattern of use of PAS among adolescents treated in the semi-liberty regime is high when compared to the general population and, in relation to the studies, almost all had dropped out of school.

ABSTRACT Objective: to evaluate the care to the child and the adolescent in treatment in the general hospital for mental and behavioral disorders due to the use of psychoactive substances, from the perspective of the Nursing. Method: evaluative study, of the case study type, with the use of the theoretical-methodological reference of the Fourth Generation Evaluation. The group of interest was composed of 19 professionals of the Nursing team of a Unit allocated in a general and teaching hospital of the West of Paraná. Data were collected from June 2015 to February 2016 through 410 hours of non-participant observation, individual interviews, following the hermeneutic-dialectical circle and a negotiation meeting. Data analysis was performed using the Constant Comparative Method. Results: three categories emerged from the analysis: nursing care for children and adolescents, Potential care and Fragility in care. the interest group reported a differentiated care of the other units of the institution, expressing the concern to care in a global and humanized way. They pointed out the development of meetings of agreement between the scenario of the study and the municipalities as one of the facilities for the care and, as greater fragility, the lack of physical space. Conclusion: It is hoped that the results of this study may instigate and provide critical reflection of professionals who develop their practice with children and adolescents who use or abuse psychoactive substance in the various health treatment services.

Microcomputers offer the potential for increasing the effectiveness of language intervention for school-age children and adolescents who have language-learning disabilities. One promising application is in the treatment of students who experience difficulty comprehending figurative expressions, an aspect of language that occurs frequently in both spoken and written contexts. Although software is available to teach figurative language to children and adolescents, it is our feeling that improvements are needed in the existing programs. Software should be reviewed carefully before it is used with students, just as standardized tests and other clinical and educational materials are routinely scrutinized before use. In this article, four microcomputer programs are described and evaluated. Suggestions are then offered for the development of new types of software to teach figurative language.
