Whether corticosteroids improve outcome in patients with acute complications of sickle cell disease (SCD) is still debated. We performed a systematic review of the literature with the aim of estimating effects of corticosteroids on the clinical course of vaso-occlusive crisis (VOC) or acute chest syndrome (ACS) in patients with SCD. The primary outcome was transfusion requirement during hospitalization. Studies were identified by search of MEDLINE and CENTRAL database. Three randomized clinical trials (RCT) and three retrospective cohort studies (RCS) were included, involving 3,304 participants and 5,562 VOC or ACS episodes. There was no difference between corticosteroids and standard treatment regarding transfusion overall [OR=0.98 (95% CI 0.38 to 2.53)], but with a significant interaction of study type (P

Objective. The objective of the current study was to analyze the research hotspot of drug treatment for tuberculosis via top literatures. Materials and Methods. A retrospective analysis was performed on June 7th, 2021. Literatures were searched on the Web of Science Core Collection to identify the top 50 cited literatures related to drug treatment of tuberculosis. The characteristics of the literatures were identified. The outcomes included authorship, journal, study type, year of publication, and institution. Cooccurrence network analysis and visualization were conducted using the VOS viewer (Version 1.6.16; Leiden University, Leiden, The Netherlands). Results. The top 50 cited literatures were cited 308 to 2689 times and were published between 1982 and 2014. The most studied drugs were the first-line drugs such as isoniazid and rifampicin ( n = 22 ), and drug-resistant tuberculosis was most frequently reported ( n = 16 ). They were published in 18 journals, and the New England Journal of Medicine published the most literatures ( n = 18 ), followed by the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine ( n = 7 ), and the Lancet ( n = 6 ). The authors were from 13 countries, and the authors from the USA published most of the literatures ( n = 30 ), while authors from other countries published less than five literatures. The CDC in the USA ( n = 4 ), the World Health Organization (WHO) ( n = 3 ), and the American Philosophical Society ( n = 3 ) were the leading institutions, and only two authors published at least two top-cited literatures as first authors. Conclusions. This study provides insights into the development and most important literatures on drug therapy for tuberculosis and evidence for future research on tuberculosis treatment.

Abstract Background Prospective registration aims to reduce bias in the conduct and reporting of research and to increase transparency. In addition, prospective registration of systematic reviews is argued to help preventing unintended duplication, thereby reducing research waste. PROSPERO was launched in 2011 as the first prospective register for systematic reviews. While it has long been the only option to prospectively register systematic reviews, recently there have been new developments. Our aim was to identify and characterize current options to prospectively register a systematic review to assist review authors in choosing a suitable register. Methods To identify systematic review registers, we independently performed internet searches in January 2021 using keywords related to systematic reviews and prospective registration. “Registration” was defined as the process of entering information about a planned systematic review into a database before starting the systematic review process. We collected data on the characteristics of the identified registries and contacted the responsible party of each register for verification of the data related to their registry. Results Overall, we identified five options to prospectively register a systematic review: PROSPERO, the Registry of Systematic Reviews/Meta-Analyses in Research Registry, and INPLASY, which are specific to systematic reviews, and the Open Science Framework Registries and protocols.io, which represent generic registers open to any study type. Detailed information on each register is presented in tables in the main text. Regarding the systematic-review-specific registries, authors have to trade-off between the costs of registration and the processing time of their registration record. All registers provide an option to search for systematic reviews already registered in the register. However, it is unclear how useful these search functions are. Conclusion Authors can prospectively register their systematic review in five registries, which come with different characteristics and features. The research community should discuss fair and sustainable financing models for registers that are not operated by for-profit organizations.

Abstract Sand bags are one of the technologies still widely used to elevate water level. The sand bags are arranged in order to dam the river flow and to irrigate agricultural land, especially during the dry season. In line with its utilization, water supply of this technology is still less effective, thus, alternative technology is needed. This study aimed to test Barrier Knock-Down as an alternative technology that can be assembled and stored. This study was a quantitative research conducted by testing the prototypes. The tests were carried out using a monitor instrument Diver, piezometer. The tests of comparison were conducted in 4 types: Type 1, it was an L shape filled with sand+water; Type 2 was I shape filled with sand+water; Type 3 was an I shape filled with water; Type 4 was in an L shape filled with water. From the results of the study, type 1 is the best method for weir irrigation technology because of its ability to resist vertical and horizontal force than other types. Type 1-an L shape filled with sand+water with the value of safety factor rolling stability 5,28 and shear stability 2,23. Experiment result a stable elevation value in weir, did not experience a shift.

Aim: The goal of this study was to determine how frequent erectile dysfunction is in diabetic people and what factors contribute to this condition. Methods:  In this study, type-2 diabetes patients were selected among outpatients who visited Diabetes Clinics regularly. For the first selection of patients, it was essential to have had a diagnosis of type 2 diabetes for at least six months but no more than 10 years. 1,080 male diabetic patients (with or without active ED symptoms) who visited the institute's Medicine or Psychiatry Outpatient Departments were included in the study throughout the period under consideration. The individuals' body mass index (BMI), blood sugar levels, and lipid profile were all measured. Erectile dysfunction became more common as people became older. ED was shown to be associated with elevated hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c), as well as hypertension, atherogenic dyslipidemia (low HDL-cholesterol and high triglycerides), metabolic syndrome, and depression in the study population. Male erectile dysfunction (ED) has been demonstrated to be prevented by physical activity, with men who exercised more being 10 percent less likely to develop ED than those who did not.  Results: Erectile dysfunction was shown to be prevalent in 32.21 percent of men. Patients with erectile dysfunction had a substantially higher mean age (58.4010.96 years) than those who did not have erectile dysfunction (51.0011.16 years) (p0.001). Conclusion: In conclusion, glycemic control and other metabolic variables were linked to ED risk in people with type 2 diabetes, having a greater degree of physical activity was protective.
