The poorly known Philippine freshwater crab, Sundathelphusa picta (von Martens, 1868) from Luzon Island is re-described and re-illustrated, using type material as well as other specimens sampled from near its type locality. Two similar congeners from Luzon, S. uva sp. nov. and S. angelito sp. nov., from the provinces of Bataan and Rizal, respectively, are described as new. These three species are united by their relatively small size, rounded and dome-shaped carapaces, proportionately short ambulatory legs, and stout male first gonopods. They are distinguished from each other by a suite of morphological characters, particularly of the carapace, male pleon and gonopods.

Two new land planarian species, collected in the State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, are described. Their external aspect is similar to that of Imbira marcusi Carbayo et al., 2013 and Pseudogeoplana theresopolitana (Schirch, 1929), respectively. The analysis of the internal organs, however, revealed they belong to the genus Cratera. The male copulatory organs of one species is very different from any other geoplaninid, for the penis papilla holds a large, distal cavity receiving the ejaculatory duct and, furthermore, the papilla projects vertically downwards from the roof of the male atrium. Thus we consider it as a new species, Cratera cuarassu sp. nov. The second species differs from its congeners in that the dorsal insertion of the penis papilla is anterior to the ventral one, and in that the female atrium is narrowed in the anterior portion. The species was found in the type locality of Pseudogeoplana theresopolitana (Schirch, 1929) and compares well with it in the external features. However, since its internal organs are unknown and the type material of the species is seemingly lost, we describe it as Cratera anamariae Carbayo, sp. nov.

AbstractThe genus Anonchus is revised. The genera Assia and Haconnus are considered to be synonymous with Anonchus on the basis of the morphological analysis. Additional descriptions of six species, viz. A. maculatus , A. mirabilis , A. millelacunatus , A. palaeotropicus , A. coomansi and A. pulcher are provided on the basis of type material or recently collected populations. The lectotype of A. monohystera is designated and described and the synonymy of this species with A. maculatus is confirmed. Two new species are described; A. winiszewskae sp. n. from Paraguay and A. venezolanus sp. n. from Venezuela. Several aspects of the morphology are described and the variability and diagnostic significance of the main morphological characters discussed. A study of intrageneric and suprageneric taxonomy of the genus Anonchus is presented. The subfamily Aphanolaiminae is reinstated for the genera Aphanolaimus, Aphanonchus and Paraphanolaimus and raised to family rank. The family Aphanolaimidae includes two subfamilies: Aphanolaiminae and Anonchinae. An emended diagnosis and a revised classification of Anonchus are proposed and a key to the species of the genus is provided.

A complete revision of the world species of the genus Phaenoglyphis Förster, 1869 has been conducted. A total of 25 species of Phaenoglyphis are valid after studying their type material. Two new species are described: Phaenoglyphis belizini sp. n. and Phaenoglyphis palmirae sp. n. Two species are synonymized: P. dolichocera (Cameron, 1889) with P. nigripes (Thomson, 1877) and P. pecki Andrews, 1978 with P. villosa (Hartig, 1841). Phaenoglyphis bangalorensis Kurian, 1953 was considered as incertae sedis. Phaenoglyphis duplocarpentieri (Kieffer, 1904) and P. hedickei Hedicke, 1928 are considered lost. Other three species are discarded as valid species because they are missing important parts without which the species cannot be defined: P. cincta (Hartig, 1841), P. frigidus (Belizin, 1968) and P. repentinus Belizin, 1962. A complete redescription and an illustrative plate are presented. A key to species of the genus Phaenoglyphis is given. Phylogenetic analysis based on morphological characters has been performed.

The genus Aspicera Dahlbom (Hymenoptera: Cynipoidea: Figitidae: Aspicerinae) is revised herein. Aspicera has a Holarctic distribution, being here cited for the first time from the following countries: Canada, Cyprus, Greece, India (northeastern corner, which is part of the Himalayan southeastern range and is considered as belonging to the Palaearctic), Japan, Jordan, Mexico, Montenegro, and Turkey. Morphological characters necessary to differentiate the species of Aspicera are described. The 27 previously described species of Aspicera were revised, always studying the type material when available (21 species); the type material of A. aegyptica Hedicke, 1928, A. chlapowskii Kieffer, 1901, A. coriacea Kieffer, 1901, A. lobata Hedicke, 1928, A. sibirica Kieffer, 1901, A. spinosa (Boyer de Fonscolombe, 1832) are lost or destroyed, these species were studied with the original descriptions. Of the 27 known species, 16 are considered as valid and are redescribed; A. effincta Belizin, 1952 is syn. nov. of A. suecica Dalla Torre & Kieffer, 1910, and A. brevispina Kieffer, 1901 and A. coriacia Kieffer, 1901 are syn. nov. of A. hartigi Dalla Torre, 1889. Aspicera nigra Ionescu, 1969, A. nigricornis Kirby, 1889 and A. rugosa (Hartig, 1843) do not belong to the Aspicerinae, but respectively to the genera Xyalophora and Neralsia (Figitinae), and Xyalaspis (Anacharitinae): Xyalophora nigra (Ionescu) n. comb., Neralsia nigricornis (Kirby) n. comb. and Xyalaspis rugosa Hartig status restored. Aspicera lobata Hedicke, 1928 is considered as ‘incertae sedis’. The examination of additional specimens suggests that there is a general lack of knowledge of the species diversity of this genus. Two new species of mites are described from Europe on the basis of all developmental stages: Cilliba cassideasimilis sp. nov. and C. rafalskii sp. nov. (Acari: Uropodina: Cillibidae). Both of these species have been misidentified in the past as the closely related species C. cassidea, but these three species can be distinguished using morphological characters. Data on their geographical distribution and some remarks about ecology of both species are presented and discussed. New records of mites of the genus Cilliba are given.

The genus <em>Phytopythium</em> is a monophyletic taxon of the Peronosporaceae with characteristics intermediate between <em>Phytophthora</em> and <em>Pythium</em>. In the Philippines, reports of <em>Phytopythium</em> are scarce, with the mangrove-swamp-inhabiting species <em>Phytopythium kandeliae</em> being the only species recorded to date. It was the aim of the current study to investigate the diversity of <em>Phytopythium</em> in mangrove habitats in more detail. Based on culture characteristics, morphology, and molecular phylogenetic position, two new species of <em>Phytopythium</em> are described from Philippine mangroves, <em>P. leanoi</em> USTCMS 4102 and <em>P. dogmae</em> USTCMS 4101. <em>Phytopythium leanoi</em> is a species morphologically similar to <em>P. kandeliae</em>, but with the ability to develop gametangia in a homothallic fashion. The other new species, <em>P. dogmae</em>, is characterized by having a short discharge tube, semipapillate to papillate sporangia and frequently exhibiting a clustering of two sporangia per sporangiogenic hypha. With the addition of the two species described in this study, the genus <em>Phytopythium</em> has grown from around 10 to beyond 20 recognized species over the past decade, and it seems likely that several more species of this genus await discovery.

Leaf fragments with an epidermal structure confidently suggesting their affinity to the genus Phoenicopsis Heer (Czekanowskiales) have been discovered for the first time in the Jurassic of Mangyshlak (Kazakhstan). Representatives of this genus were previously identified n this flora based on the morphological characters of the leaf compressions only. Two new species of the subgenus Phoenicopsis are described, P. insolita N. Nosova et Kiritch., sp. nov. and P. sauranica N. Nosova et Kiritch., sp. nov., as well as a species of the subgenus Culgoweria, P. tanynbaica N. Nosova et Kiritch., sp. nov. The stomatal topography of P. kilpperiana (Schweitzer et Kirchner) Kiritch. has been re-examined in greater detail on the basis of the available type material from the Early Jurassic of Iran.

Two new species of Crellidae Dendy, 1922 from the east coast of Canada are described. The first is Crella (Pytheas) cutis sp. nov., a massively encrusting species of Crella (Pytheas) collected from depths of 84 to 249 m in the Gulf of St. Lawrence and on the Scotian Shelf. The second is Crellomima mehqisinpekonuta sp. nov., a thinly encrusting sponge found at diving depths in the Bay of Fundy. We also report the first records of Crellomima derma Hentschel, 1929 from outside the type locality (Barents Sea). All known species of Crellomima are reviewed based on type material.

I describe two new species of the previously monotypic, Chilean endemic nysonine genus Cresson: C. mariastea Packer, sp. nov. and C. salitrera Packer, sp. nov., redescribe the type species C. parvispinosus (Reed) and provide an identification key for the three species. I clear up the confusion associated with the original type material of the latter species by designating a specimen from the type locality as the lectotype. The new species extend the range of the genus northwards, one by over 1000 km. I suggest putative hosts for all three species, all of which are in the genera Tachysphex or Parapiagetia.

In this paper we describe two new sympatric species of phalangopsid crickets Adelosgryllus from the Araripe-Apodi National Forest, State of Ceará, Brazil, highlighting morphological characters, mainly from male genitalia, tegmina and copulatory papilla. We also present a geographical map for the valid species of the genus, as well as photographs of holotypes and paratypes. The type-material is deposited in the Museu de Zoologia da Universidade de São Paulo (MZUSP).
