This article is dedicated to Professor Sarel van der Merwe as missiologist and what he had done for the cause of the missio Dei in South Africa. The role of the laity in the missio Dei was one of the most significant developments followed by most church denominations. The priesthood of believers was the reformational perspective rediscovered by Martin Luther. The reformed tradition rediscovered the role of the laity in missions, which the Baptist church tradition has now developed most extensively in terms of missions. The Catholic Church has recognised the apostolicity of the laity in a decree called ‘Apostolicam Actuositatem’ at the Second Vatican Council in response to the crises of the church. The charismatics gave recognition to the role of the laity through the spiritual gifts of each believer. The role of the laity and of the priesthood of believers has its biblical precedent and foundation in 1 Peter 2:5, 9 and Ephesians 4:1–16. The contribution of Ephesians is that it provides the church with a missional mandate for the ordinary believer to participate in the missio Dei –, a mandate that has to be rediscovered in every age. The priesthood of believers provides an orientation for a biblical missional ecumenism.

Abstract Since 2012, the Besrour Centre for Global Family Medicine at the College of Family Physician of Canada has brought together its partners from the Americas annually, to reflect on the evolution of Family Medicine on the continent since Alma-Ata, and to look forward to future challenges. Family doctors are but one element of a strong health system. Family Medicine provides key ingredients to respond to population health needs especially as countries move through the epidemiological transition to face larger burdens of chronic disease and multimorbidity. In this paper, we provide a high-level overview of the state of Family Medicine on the continent. We then analyze trends in the education of family physicians to face this changing landscape, including the emphasis on the leader role of future family physicians. Postgraduate programs in Family Medicine in the Americas are placing increasing emphasis on teaching collaborative care in view of creating truly interdisciplinary health teams for the benefit of patients.

<p>In this research paper the role of followers in a leader's development is explored. The research findings show that leadership development remains a “slippery” subject and in spite of all the commitment made by organisations to develop leadership, the return on this investment, as viewed by followers is poor. Even though followers are the indirect recipients of leadership development and without them the role of leader does not exist, they are largely excluded from the process. Leaders see the important contribution they could have if provided the opportunity. Moreover, the development of followership is not evident even though both followers and leaders alike see the critical role of followership in a leader's success. The focus of leadership and followership is dominated by the leader's views. While not researching sensemaking in depth, this research presents evidence that the sensemaking of followers is accurate, insightful and meaningful. The research begins to explore the reasons for the low return on leadership development and highlights harmful aspects that can arise where care is not taken to consider a leader's maturity and situational context. The research shows how organisations are not actively encouraging authenticity and inner development of followers. Where this occurs it is largely a passive process and takes place through mimicry. Given the imbalance of resource allocation to be almost totally to the benefit of leadership, authenticity awareness and development is seen to be reserved for those that desire the title of leader. Finally, the research suggests that implementing followership development in a similar way to that which occurs in leadership would be positive although limiting. The current commoditisation of leadership results from the way mainstream thinking considers the leader's role and encourages a relational and dualistic view between the leader and follower. This view does not align to the everyday experience of people who share conversation, who create meaning together and who together help construct the leader role.</p>

This study sought to understand and illuminate the distinctive nature of the role of educational leader in preschool settings. Research regarding the educational leader role is limited, and in preschool settings it is scant. The theory of practice architecture was applied as an analytical framework to investigate how educational leaders of New South Wales preschools enacted their role. This article discusses phase 1 of a mixed method study which surveyed 153 preschool educational leaders. The findings indicated that preschool educational leaders were experienced, educated and enacted their roles in varied ways. They frequently used practices that were informal and collaborative, responding to their unique contexts and situations.

The purpose of this paper is to analyze leader’s role in unpredictable organizational world through critically analysing the leadership approaches and the roles of leaders in a mining conglomerate. Through a brief adaptive leadership literature review the paper presents main aspects of complexity theory, adaptive leadership, leader’s role in this framework and potential utilization of literature findings in real case of a mining conglomerate in Kosovo which is under reorganization process. Assenting to the literature the leader role has changed in direction of adapting the behaviour or leading approach based on the complexity of the environment that organizations are facing today. As anticipated the paper in fact, finds positive correlation of literature theory and practical use of several complex adaptive leadership aspects that the leadership of the mining conglomerate can consider during the reorganization process, with the purpose of adjusting their role accordingly to the complexity of the environment of the organization.

The article contains considerations concerning a role of Churches and religion in building the civil society, bringing the readers closer to the specific movement in the history of Christianity which is evangelicalism and to Churches and communities that have grown out of this movement. The author concentrates mainly on Poland, pointing out that for Poles faith and Church membership is still a very important thing. In the article there are presented two examples of evangelical Churches, i.e., the Pentecostal Church in Poland and the Baptist Church in Poland; their interest in the common good and social engagement as well as their effort put into educating children to be responsible citizens has been underlined.
