Gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) is a widely used method of joining aluminium and its alloys. Despite the fact that a lot of research has been done in this area for several decades, there are many unresolved issues on the welding process control. Optimization of square wave alternating current profiles is one of them. This paper presents the results of studies on control of spatial position of an arc by an improved heat input algorithm taking into account the necessary relationship between direct current of straight and reverse polarity. It is shown that an increase in direct current reverse polarity to over 10 A contributes to expansion of a cathode spots space and, consequently, a greater deviation of the arc from the axis of a tungsten electrode. The spatial position of the arc is almost coaxial to the tungsten electrode when direct current reverse polarity is short-term reduced to 5 A at the final stage. These results are correct for a wide range of the square wave alternating current profiles.

The physics laboratory-works creating and operating computer simulations experience is described. A significant amount of laboratory works can be classified as a “black box”. The studied physical phenomenon is hidden from direct observation, the control is carried out by means of electrical measuring devices. It is difficult to distinguish physical reality from its imitation when performing such work, so the virtualization of this one does not require realistic images. The schematic representation of the laboratory installation greatly simplifies the process of creating a simulator. A unique set of installation parameters is formed for each student performing laboratory work on the simulator, which contributes to the independence of the student's work. These parameters are stored in Google Sheets. Their transfer to the laboratory work’s html-template is carried out in encrypted form through the Google Apps Script service. Virtual laboratory work is implemented as a cross-platform web application.

The availability of the electricity in doing a job lead to a dependency on it. If there is a sudden failure on electricity, it will result in unfinished works. To overcome the undesired situation because of wasting time, it is advisable to have your power supply. The power supply can serve to replace electricity temporarily, or it could be as a replacement for power supply of PLN’s (State Electricity Company) electricity nets to meet the daily electricity needs. Backup power available can sufficiently replace the source of PLN’s electricity nets with the output of square wave to the ordinary electricity needs. The type of the intended power supply is inverter system as a backup system that supplies daily electricity. In this case, it aims to change the DC (direct current) to AC (alternating current) voltages.
