The physics laboratory-works creating and operating computer simulations experience is described. A significant amount of laboratory works can be classified as a “black box”. The studied physical phenomenon is hidden from direct observation, the control is carried out by means of electrical measuring devices. It is difficult to distinguish physical reality from its imitation when performing such work, so the virtualization of this one does not require realistic images. The schematic representation of the laboratory installation greatly simplifies the process of creating a simulator. A unique set of installation parameters is formed for each student performing laboratory work on the simulator, which contributes to the independence of the student's work. These parameters are stored in Google Sheets. Their transfer to the laboratory work’s html-template is carried out in encrypted form through the Google Apps Script service. Virtual laboratory work is implemented as a cross-platform web application.

Hydrogen fuel consumption measuring methodologies of a fuel cell vehicle without modifying the fuel path has been tested and benchmarked. In this work, they are applied to a Hyundai Nexo fuel cell electric vehicle driving different mission profiles on a chassis dynamometer. Three methods respectively based on hydrogen tank pressure, tailpipe oxygen concentration, and IR-shared (infrared) tank data are compared to the reference method relying on fuel cell current measurements. In addition to the hydrogen fuel consumption results, the installed electrical measuring equipment made possible to yield the fuel cell efficiency map at both stack and system levels as well as the energy consumption of its balance-of-plant (BoP) components during steady-state operation. A maximum steady-state efficiency of 66.8% is reported along with a rated system power of 82 kWe involving a 9.1-kWe power consumption for the electric compressor. It is shown that the compressor and the 12-V accessories are the most energy consuming devices among the BoP components accounting for 2%–3% of the total electric energy generated by the fuel cell. Furthermore, the behavior of the powertrain system is monitored and discussed during warm-up phases and during a long idling period. Finally, based on non-intrusive temperature measurements, a short analysis is conducted about the temperature impact on the fuel cell efficiency.

In a goniophotometer system, it is often unavoidable to use long cables to connect power supply, electrical measuring instrument, and the device under test (DUT). The measurement errors caused by cable impedance should not be ignored. An equivalent electrical circuit model considering the cable impedance of a typical goniophotometer is established in this paper. The measurement errors caused by the cable impedance are analysed by simulation. In DC and low frequency circuits, the cable impedance is almost resistive, while the inductive impedance of cables is significant and may lead to considerable errors when frequency is above 1 kHz in the circuits. Cable solutions in goniophotometry are introduced and recommended.

Abstract The research aims to develop mobile learning media with augmented reality for electrical measurement instruments. The learner can use this application to improve their skills and knowledge about using electrical measurement instruments correctly. One of the essential skills for electricians is using voltmeter, ammeter, and ohmmeter. The result of measuring they can do some analysis about an issue or troubleshooting the electrical field. From the development research, was produced learning media application product was named ARAVO. ARAVO is an abbreviation of augmented reality of Ammeter, Voltmeter, and Ohmmeter. ARAVO helps learners and even lecturers to simulate the use of electrical measuring instruments by combining virtual objects such as multimeter with the real world. Thus will provide a more visible visualization of how to use electrical measuring instruments before they practice directly with actual measuring instruments. ARAVO is a mobile application that can run on the smartphone platform mobile Android. Into the development of this application must go through several stages before it is ready for use.

Phase resolved partial discharge patterns (PRPD) are routinely used to assess the condition of power transformers. In the past, classification systems have been developed in order to automate the fault identification task. Most of those systems work with the assumption that only one source is active. In reality, however, multiple PD sources can be active at the same time. Hence, PRPD patterns can overlap and cannot be separated easily, e.g., by visual inspection. Multiple PD sources in a single PRPD represent a multi-label classification problem. We present a system based on long short-term memory (LSTM) neural networks to resolve this task. The system is generally able to classify multiple overlapping PRPD by while only being trained by single class PD sources. The system achieves a single class accuracy of 99% and a mean multi-label accuracy of 43% for an imbalanced dataset. This method can be used with overlapping PRPD patterns to identify the main PD source and, depending on the data, also classify the second source. The method works with conventional electrical measuring devices. Within a detailed discussion of the presented approach, both its benefits but also its problems regarding different repetition rates of different PD sources are being evaluated.

The purpose of this study was experimental investigations and a study of the nature of the change in the main harmonic components of the current in the neutral working wire of a three-phase four-wire network with a voltage of 0.38 kV. The study of the amplitude-phase-frequency characteristics of currents flowing in an electric network with a predominant non-linear load is one of the most urgent tasks, the solution of which will increase the efficiency of electric power transmission and eliminate the negative consequences due to the current flow in a zero-working wire in the network at 0.38 kV. To study the effect of load changes on the amplitude-phase-frequency characteristics of currents in the linear and zero working wires at the input of the load node, measurements were carried out by certified electrical measuring instruments namely, the “Resource-UF2M” and “Hioki 3196”. With these devices, the phase voltages at the input to the load node were measured. The analysis of the results obtained for the load node whose power was formed mainly by a lighting system with fluorescent and LED lamps and a system of office electrical receivers (computers, copiers, printers, scanners, etc.) was performed. It can be concluded that a current comparable to the currents of the linear wires of the network flows from the load node with the predominant nonlinear power receivers through the zero-working wire. At the same time, in the zero-working wire of the network, the third harmonic current prevails over the main frequency currents.
