The article presents a brief overview of expeditionary surveys of the territory of Russia by VIR scientists in 2020 within the framework of the State Assignment for the research project No. 0481-2020-0001 “Ensuring the preservation and replenishment of the collection of plant genetic resources”. In 2020, with the support from budgetary and non-budgetary sources, VIR scientists participated in 8 collecting missions to various regions of Russia (Krasnodar Territory, Adygea, Karelia, including Valaam Island, Murmansk and Arkhangelsk provinces, the Solovetsky Islands, Yakutia, and Khabarovsk Territory). The seeds, cuttings, live plants, and herbarium specimens collected in 2020 for replenishing the VIR collection totaled 580 samples.

Inventory and collection of local plant genetic resources from Bulgarian and Chinese flora was carried out by implementing the bilateral research project between Bulgaria and China, with the focus on their preservation and targeted use. During the years 2011 and 2012 several expeditions in rural areas of South Bulgaria were conducted. The inventory of the areas was performed using a GPS system. The National collection was enriched with 134 local vegetable accessions and 98 valuable genotypes originating from China. Collected materials are listed in the National Register PHYTO'2000, according to international descriptors of FAO, ECP/GR and Biodiversity International. The accessions are included in the survey and stored in the National Genebank.

The research project was conducted to investigate the understanding of E-commerce Application among the SMEs in the state of Kelantan. Focusing on the population of registered members of Dewan Perniagaan Melayu Malaysia, Kelantan, a total of302 respondents were selected to participate in our study. Moving in line with the general assumption of world business community it is agreed that e-commerce application is highly relevant for the survival and meeting the challenges of borderless economy. At the same time, the process of acquiring knowledge and understanding the environment, coping with changes, and speeding up the business decision, able to further enhance the competitive advantage of the SMEs. Using the established model, our investigation focused on 5 identifiable variables to demonstrate its usefulness towards motivating SMEs to adopt e-commerce. Our analysis indicated that all the selected variables were significant towards enhancing the application of e-commerce and thus maintaining competitive advantage in the industry.

The International research conference “Rumyantsev readings–2009” held on April 21-23, 2009 in the Russian state library was attended by over 290 people from various cities and regions of Russia and from the state-participants CIS. The theme of Conference of this year was “Historical and cultural traditions and innovative transformations of Russia. Educational responsibility of libraries”. The conference presented a unique book project on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of M.V. Lomonosov – “Lomonosovskaya Library”.
