Scholars of transnational entrepreneurship have largely focused on the issue of institutional barriers within the country of origin (COO) context, asserting that transnational entrepreneurs (TEs) can overcome these barriers in a way that constitutes a competitive advantage. What has not been analyzed in the literature is the way in which institutional barriers that are imposed from outside of TE networks can affect TE behaviour and success. In this study, I will introduce the concept of externally imposed institutional barriers, using the example of Iranian TEs as a case study in which to understand this concept. By looking at three cases of Iranian TEs functioning within the context of Iran’s exclusion from the global financial system, this study will draw conclusions on the state of Iranian-Canadian TE activity and its implications for scholars, practitioners, and policymakers.

In the context of international integration, managers’ knowledge plays an important role as a valuable organizational resource from a strategic perspective and a foundation for competitive advantage in business environment. The aim of this paper was to build assessment model and attest it in the case of Vietnam’s Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs) regarding manager’s knowledge in preparing the information on financial statements. By analyzing current relative standards (including international and national systems) and two basic assessment models (ASK by Bloom et al. (1956) and BKD by Shinseki (1999)), the study developed to identify the assessment criteria of the manager’s knowledge as one main research objective. The research data of 71 SMEs in the sample showed that: (i)The relationship between managers’ background and their understanding about information on their financial statements was a negative linkage; (ii) The number of managers using their financial statements to make a business decision was very low; and (iii) The most important criteria on the financial statement in their views were profits and revenues.

Many Researchers have written on the SMEs and Entrepreneurship in the past but failed to distinguish clearly the difference between the two concepts, thereby leaving a gap in literature. This study attempts to bridge his gap. The study identified the difference between entrepreneurship and Small/Medium Enterprises (SMEs), clarified the erroneous practice of using both words interchangeably by Researchers/Practitioners, categorized the supporting agencies and climaxes their contributions and limitations with suggestions for future considerations. In examining their contributions, a sample population of 1200 stakeholders was purposely selected in the state of Osun, Nigeria. Overall findings revealed that Agencies’ impacts have been minimal due to the high rate of corruption, bureaucracy and inability to separate entrepreneurial SMEs from non-entrepreneurial SMEs, These Agencies fall within the intermediate environment of businesses, categorized as participatory, facilitating & regulatory and are public sectors dominated with low entrepreneurship orientation. The study averred that Agencies/government officials should be more entrepreneurial by promoting auxiliary marketing systems for SMEs. It is suggested that having business-minded and entrepreneurial politicians/ leaders would promote SMEs and entrepreneurship in Nigeria.

The central government often puts the village as an object, so the utilization of ICT programs only reached district or subdistrict area. Therefore the emergence of movement from villages that use internet, become a lesson that the initiative can be done from the bottom (village). The research was conducted through a case study by performing interviews and observations in Panjalu Village, Subdistrict Panjalu, Distric of Ciamis. Interview guidance is used to find out the condition of the village before and after the utilization of ICT. The result showed that Panjalu Village has held ICT training to the village employees and cadres. The utilization of ICT related to the business sector is quite complete and informative. The available website is used by the village government to promote agricultural, tourist sites, and handicrafts from SME (Small Medium Enterprises). In terms of e-government solution, the utilization of ICT largely are in the information stage, and a little bit are still in the interaction stage. The utilization of ICT in Panjalu Village is used to distribute or disseminate the information regarding the development activities.

Purpose. Disseminating knowledge on tourist space as a subject of study (ontological aspect) and methods for researching (describing and measuring) it, including paradigms and applied research approaches (epistemological aspect). Research hypothesis: the measure of tourism (tourist space) development is the achievement, within a given area, a state of long-term sustainability, defined as the situation in which the (widely understood) benefits outweigh (widely understood) costs of tourism development incurred by all (direct and indirect) groups of stakeholders. Method. The first part of the paper provides an overview. On the basis of the existing definitions and ways of understanding or delimiting tourist space, different measures (including measures of tourist space development) were distinguished and classified. In the second part of the paper, the results of a pilot research project investigating the state of sustainability of tourist space (tourism) in the town of Jastarnia were presented (case study). The research project was carried out using an innovative research method based on a model of sustainable tourism. This was a qualitative project and the obtained results have been quantified. Findings. The current state of tourism (tourist space) in Jastarnia was found to meet the criteria of sustainability, although certain sub-groups of respondents reported lack of sustainability in the component of costs. Research and conclusion limitations. The results of the empirical research reflect the current state (2015). The research project was carried out on a determined sample (it is not representative). Practical implications. The proposed method can be used for assessing the state of tourism at any destination. The obtained results can serve as a guide in the decision making process regarding the directions of tourism development. Originality. An innovative empirical research method has been applied. Type of paper. The first part of the paper provides an overview. The second part contains results of an empirical research project.

Small-medium enterprises (SMEs) have always been considered to be the backbone of Brunei's economy. As published by the OECD in 2006, SMEs constitute a high percentage of businesses, where they account for 98% of all active business enterprises, and contribute about 92% of the employment in the private sector, and at least 66% of the GDP within the non-oil sector of the economy. Since SMEs are considered to be significant for the economy, they are encouraged to improve their business performance in order to sustain their business development by enhancing their accounting information system. This article will focus on the current accounting practices in which Brunei SMEs have been implemented by MMA Cube Stores as a case study. As cube shop businesses have been growing all over the country, it is significant to carry out this research as it may apply to the other similar business in Brunei. Reasonable recommendations are included in this article for the augmentation of the accounting system among Brunei SMEs.
