The orb-weaving spider Poltys illepidus Koch 1843 is recorded from northern Thailand for the first time. The distribution of the species in Southeast Asia is extended northwest. The morphotype is characterized by an unusual small accessory protuberance on the carapace which is described and illustrated as a median anterior process without apparent function. Keywords: arachnid, biogeography, distribution, morphotype, Southeast Asia

Buniapone Schmidt & Shattuck 2014 is a monotypic and morphologically distinct hypogeic ant genus found only in Southern and Southeast Asia. The Ponerine ant Buniapone amblyops (Emery 1887) has been recorded for the first time from Nepal. The specimen was hand-collected in Pokhara (28.21361111 N, 83.97222222 E, 840 m asl) from animal dung on the ground. Morphological characteristics of Nepalese B. amblyops worker, distribution, and ecology are discussed.

The male of Systaria cervina (Simon, 1897) is newly described; the female internal genitalia are illustrated for the first time. Seven new species are described from Southeast Asia: S. decidua sp. nov. and S. lanna sp. nov. from northern Thailand; S. insolita sp. nov. from northeastern Thailand; S. bifida sp. nov. from southern Thailand and Myanmar; S. acuminata sp. nov. from southern Thailand and Indonesia; S. convolutiva sp. nov. from Indonesia; S. deelemanae sp. nov. from the Philippines. Two additional characters are recognized among Systaria species and considered synapomorphies for the genus: the base of the cymbium on retrolateral side is provided with a sharply pointed cymbial tubercle or an elevated, oblique ridge; the anterior bursae of the internal female genitalia are distinctly sclerotized.

Vietnam is an important hotspot for Begonia in Southeast Asia. Due to its broad latitudinal range and varied terrain, it has developed a rich biodiversity of flora, of which the genus of Begonia is one of the most striking taxa. In this study, we provide a checklist of Begonia found in Vietnam, including a new species: B. jubar V.T.Pham & C.W.Lin, which is described and illustrated. In addition, Begonia modestiflora Kurz is recorded for the first time in Vietnam.

The Asian tramp snail Bradybaena similaris (Férussac, 1822) is an exotic mollusk native to Southeast Asia. The species has been catalogued as invasive in several countries and is important to human health, animal health, and agriculture. We report for the first time the presence of B. similaris in Córdoba Province, Argentina, extending the southern distribution of the species in this country and in South America. Anatomical, conchological, and molecular information obtained here represent the second contribution for this species in Argentina.

The genus Agrisius Walker (1855) is reported for the first time in Cambodia, for the new species Agrisius nigripunctata sp. n. Additionally, Agrisius fuliginosus is reported for the first time in Laos, Myanmar, China, Thailand and Vietnam. Illustrations of the adult and genitalia of Agrisius nigripunctata sp. n. and A. fuliginosus Moore are presented.

The powder post beetles (Coleoptera: Bostrichidae) (except Lyctinae) of Yunnan Province in Southwest China are reviewed for the first time. Keys to twenty-six genera and fifty-two species from the Yunnan region are provided. One new genus and seven new species are described: Dinoderus (Dinoderastes) hongheensis sp. nov., Dinoderus (Dinoderastes) nanxiheensis sp. nov., Gracilenta yingjiangensis gen. nov., sp. nov., Calonistes vittatus sp. nov., Calophagus colombiana sp. nov., Xylodrypta guochuanii sp. nov. and Xylodrypta zhenghei sp. nov.. Fourteen species are recorded in China for the first time. The bostrichid fauna of Yunnan is compared with those of the neighbouring bio-geographically related Southeast Asian and Himalayan regions. The fauna has a close affinity with that of tropical Southeast Asia and a much weaker relationship with the Palearctic region. The differences with the Himalayas may reflect the separate evolutionary and complex geological history of the two areas.

Two new species and one new record species of the genus Pseudonereis are described from specimens collected from ecological surveys of coasts of Taiwan and an offshore island during the past 15 years: P. jihueiensis n. sp., P. kihawensis n. sp., and P. trimaculata. Epitokes of P. jihueiensis n. sp. and P. trimaculata are also described. Pseudonereis jihueiensis n. sp. can be distinguished from congeners by having edentate jaws, χ-shaped ridge pattern of Areas VI–V–VI, parapodial morphology (i.e., length ratio of dorsal cirrus to dorsal ligule or presence of small pennant-like dorsal ligule, shape of dorsal ligule in certain region of chaetigers), and no heterogomph spinigers in the subacicular fascicle of the neuropodia. Pseudonereis kihawensis n. sp. differs from congeners by having crescent-shaped pointed-bars in Area VI, λ-shaped ridge pattern of Areas VI–V–VI, parapodial morphology (i.e., length ratio of dorsal cirrus to dorsal ligule or presence of small pennant-like dorsal ligule or shape of dorsal ligule in certain region of chaetigers), and no heterogomph spinigers in the subacicular fascicle of the neuropodia. Pseudonereis trimaculata, a species originally described from Indonesia, is reported from Taiwan for the first time. A table of key characters for all species of Pseudonereis is provided.
