Buniapone Schmidt & Shattuck 2014 is a monotypic and morphologically distinct hypogeic ant genus found only in Southern and Southeast Asia. The Ponerine ant Buniapone amblyops (Emery 1887) has been recorded for the first time from Nepal. The specimen was hand-collected in Pokhara (28.21361111 N, 83.97222222 E, 840 m asl) from animal dung on the ground. Morphological characteristics of Nepalese B. amblyops worker, distribution, and ecology are discussed.

AbstractA preliminary study of the Lecanora dispersa group in Argentina is presented. Two species (L. dispersa and L. hagenii) have been previously recorded and their known distribution is extended, one species (L. semipallida) is a new record from Argentina, and five taxa (L. flowersiana, L. persimilis L. torrida, L. wetmorei and L. zosterae var. zosterae) are reported for the first time from South America. Three species (L. albescens, L. crenulata and L. populicola) previously recorded for Argentina have not been confirmed as occurring in this country. Lecanora aff. fugiens is also treated and compared to the related species. The morphology, anatomy, secondary metabolites, distribution and ecology of the nine studied taxa are described and discussed, and a key to the taxa is included.

The orb-weaving spider Poltys illepidus Koch 1843 is recorded from northern Thailand for the first time. The distribution of the species in Southeast Asia is extended northwest. The morphotype is characterized by an unusual small accessory protuberance on the carapace which is described and illustrated as a median anterior process without apparent function. Keywords: arachnid, biogeography, distribution, morphotype, Southeast Asia

Morphological characteristics for identification of the leafhopper genus Watara Dworakowska are described and a key to all known species is provided. One new species, Watara longiprocessa sp. n., is added and one previously described species recorded from Thailand for the first time, Watara cordata Zhang & Yang, 2011 rec. n., is illustrated.

Habenaria diphylla (Nimmo) Dalzell is reported for the first time as a new discovery for the flora of Vietnam based on the specimens collected in Binh Chau-Phuoc Buu Nature Reserve, Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province. The present study provided the detailed characteristics of the species including detailed photographs of the morphological characteristics, the cross section of the leaf, inflorescence axis and root. Furthermore, the information about the species, including distribution, habitat, ecology and conservation status were also provided.

A collection of 13 species from southern Australia is described. The collection includes Campanulina cliftonia n. sp., Campanulina elata n. sp., Hebella albida n. sp., Antennella singulata n. sp., Ventromma bellarensis n. sp., Sertularella mytila n. sp., and Obelia spongicola n. sp. Hydranthea margarica is a new record of the genus from Australia; five other species previously recorded from Australia are redescribed in detail. The reproductive structure of Macrorhynchia whiteleggei is described for the first time allowing for a new genus species combination. Notes are given on distribution and ecology.

The newly recorded species, Nymphoides aurantiaca (Dalzell) Kuntze belonging to family Menyanthaceae, was discovered at some wetland areas in Lò Gò–Xa Mát National Park (Tân Biên, Tây Ninh). This species was found for the first time in 2003 during a research on wetland biodiversity and conservation funded by Tây Ninh Province’s Department of Science and Technology. Special morphological characteristics of the species include floating leaf blades, deeply cordate at base; flowers usually two per node; five dark yellow corollas with fimbriately toothed margins. This aquatic species inhabits standing water bodies such as shallow ponds, flooded lowlands with water depth of 20-40 cm, low turbidity and slightly acidic with pH values ranging from 5.4 to 6.0. The phylogenetic affinity between N. aurantiaca and other Nymphoides species was established based on matK sequence of chloroplast DNA.

AbstractThe poorly known sesarmine crab Clistocoeloma sinense Shen, 1933, previously known only from Zhejiang in China, is recorded from the western part of Taiwan for the first time. The species is compared with the closely related C. merguiense De Man, 1888, and the differences discussed and illustrated. Specimens and records from Taiwan previously ascribed to C. merguiense are almost certainly C. sinense instead. Notes on the ecology of C. sinense are also presented.

Telmatoblechnum, with the species Telmatoblechnum serrulatum (Blechnaceae), is recorded for the first time for the Uruguayan flora. The species, so far known from southern Brazil and Northeastern Argentina as its southernmost distribution limit, was collected for the first time in crevices between rocks of basalt and sandstone in a small hill in Uruguay (Rivera). Its morphological characteristics and the novel habitat for the species are included; photographs, a map with the location of the new record, as well as a key to the genera of Blechnaceae in Uruguay are provided.

We report the powdery mildew Golovinomyces ambrosiae for the first time on silverleaf nightshade (Solanum azureum), a host plant endemic to northern Sinaloa and southern Sonora, Mexico. No teleomorph was observed, requiring the fungal species to be identified based on morphological characteristics of the anamorph. Phylogenetic analyses of the ITS region and the partial sequence of the β-tubulin gene from four specimens confirmed the identity of the species. To our knowledge, this is the first report of G. ambrosiae on S. azureum in Mexico and worldwide.

Vietnam is an important hotspot for Begonia in Southeast Asia. Due to its broad latitudinal range and varied terrain, it has developed a rich biodiversity of flora, of which the genus of Begonia is one of the most striking taxa. In this study, we provide a checklist of Begonia found in Vietnam, including a new species: B. jubar V.T.Pham & C.W.Lin, which is described and illustrated. In addition, Begonia modestiflora Kurz is recorded for the first time in Vietnam.
