Dental ceramics have an excellent ability to reproduce natural teeth appearance, but once the substrate has an altered coloration, it is necessary to mask this intercurrence, considering the characteristics of the ceramic and cement selected. This article aims to present a clinical case of rehabilitation with ceramic laminates to mask a darkened central incisor by planning a more opaque porcelain structure under a translucent contact lens. A female patient sought dental care complaining of dissatisfaction with smile aesthetics. It was clinically identified the presence of a Class IV darkened restoration in composite resin in element 11. In treatment planning harmony in the shape and color of elements 11 and 21 was aimed at through lithium disilicate lenses. An opaque intermediate structure was used to cover the darkening in tooth 11. The double molding technique was performed to obtain the working model. Prior to cementing, the surfaces were treated. In ceramics, conditioning with 10% hydrofluoric acid and 37% phosphoric acid, silane application and universal adhesive; in dental substrate, conditioning with 37% phosphoric acid and application of universal adhesive were performed. In laminates definitive cementation Allcem Venner cement was chosen. Patient reported satisfaction with treatment final aesthetics. Thus, cementation technique of a translucent laminate over an opaque facet is a good option for masking substrates with darkened coloration.

The concepts of random error and reliability of measurements that are familiar in traditional theories based on the notions of “true values” and “errors” can be represented by a probability model having a simpler formal structure and fewer special assumptions about random sampling and independence of measurements. In this model formulas that relate observable events are derived from probability axioms and from primitive terms that refer to observable events, without an intermediate structure containing variances and correlations of “true” and “error” components of scores. While more economical in language and formalism, the model at the same time is more general than classical theories and applies to stochastic processes in which joint distributions of many dependent random variables are of interest. In addition, it clarifies some long-standing problems concerning “experimental independence” of measurements and the relation of sampling of individuals to sampling of measurements.

PurposeThe present article deals with the initiation and study of a uniformity like notion, captioned μ-uniformity, in the context of a generalized topological space.Design/methodology/approachThe existence of uniformity for a completely regular topological space is well-known, and the interrelation of this structure with a proximity is also well-studied. Using this idea, a structure on generalized topological space has been developed, to establish the same type of compatibility in the corresponding frameworks.FindingsIt is proved, among other things, that a μ-uniformity on a non-empty set X always induces a generalized topology on X, which is μ-completely regular too. In the last theorem of the paper, the authors develop a relation between μ-proximity and μ-uniformity by showing that every μ-uniformity generates a μ-proximity, both giving the same generalized topology on the underlying set.Originality/valueIt is an original work influenced by the previous works that have been done on generalized topological spaces. A kind of generalization has been done in this article, that has produced an intermediate structure to the already known generalized topological spaces.
