Supply Chain (SC) has become a key element for companies to increase their productivity and competitiveness. However, the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) has also played an important role in the performance of these companies. Therefore, this chapter analyzes three latent variables in order to know the importance of ICT in both supply chain agility and the performance of human resources. Information was obtained from a questionnaire administered in the maquiladora industry in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, Mexico. A structural equation model is generated to understand the relationships among latent variables, and three hypotheses are raised based on such interactions. Finally, results indicate that supply chain agility and the performance of human resources are directly linked to the use of information and communication technologies.

Over the past few years, healthcare practice has evolved to include new forms of information and communication technologies, and healthcare providers have begun to leverage IT solutions and the internet to reach consumers in transformative ways. There is a common thought both in business and academia that the technology adoption process is a key component of success and allows firms to achieve and sustain competitive advantages. Therefore, this research attempts to reinforce the assessment of ICT impacts on healthcare, analyzing it from two different perspectives: 1) firm performance, which is measured as a combination of induced and intangible benefits beyond the traditional financial benefits; and 2) healthcare providers' acceptance and adoption of ICT tools. To assess the first perspective, a structural equation model was applied to a large database sample covering firms from 17 European countries. The results reinforce the importance of induced and structural benefits in firms' overall performance. The second perspective was analyzed only for the Portuguese healthcare providers sample. These results can be a starting point for rethinking the healthcare models emphasizing the perspectives of Healthy 2.0 and considering that patients' technological pattern evolution will lead to Healthy 3.0 in the short term. Nevertheless, some questions remain unanswered regarding the impacts of the ICT acceptance process on overall benefits; therefore, future research will focus on this domain.

This chapter examines the links between information and communication technologies (ICT), supply chain management (SCM), innovation, and performance. Such relationships provide managerial implications for contemporary SMEs managers who adopt ICT tools, dynamic process, and organizational strategies to get better information to make decisions that enhance operational outcomes. The results obtained from structural equation modeling indicate that ICT are decisive for operational alignment of actors in the supply chain, also vital to support the innovation process as a key element in the construction of set capabilities to establish improvements at the products and services. Furthermore, SCM mediates the relationship between ICT and Innovation, substantially relevant to business performance. This study digs deeper into the importance of the machinery used in the SMEs as an operational capability.

AbstractSeveral decades of research have addressed the role of information and communication technologies (ICTs) in industrial-organizational (I-O) psychology. However, segmented research streams with myriad terminologies run the risk of construct proliferation and lack an integrated theoretical justification of the contributions of ICT concepts. Therefore, by identifying important trends and reflecting on key constructs, findings, and theories, our review seeks to determine whether a compelling case can be made for the uniqueness of ICT-related concepts in studying employee and performance in I-O psychology. Two major themes emerge from our review of the ICT literature: (a) a technology behavior perspective and (b) a technology experience perspective. The technology behavior perspective with three subcategories (the “where” of work design, the “when” of work extension, and the “what” of work inattention) explores how individual technology use can be informative for predicting employee well-being and performance. The technology experience perspective theme with two subcategories (the “how” of ICT appraisals and “why” of motives) emphasizes unique psychological (as opposed to behavioral) experiences arising from the technological work context. Based on this review, we outline key challenges of current ICT research perspectives and opportunities for further enhancing our understanding of technological implications for individual workers and organizations.

The focus of the current study is analyze the impact of the use of ICT on the performance of Tunisian companies. These companies must be always fully aware of the importance of a practical valorization of ICTs that bring about socio-economic development. Thus, using ICTs on Tunisian companies’ performance has unquestionably remained a vital need. In fact, this study is carried out on a sample of 150 Tunisian companies operating in different business sectors. We chose the quantitative method. So, to test our conceptual model, we applied the exploratory factor analysis and then the structural equation methods. The empirical testing of hypotheses of this research led to partially confirm the influence of ICTs on the performance of Tunisian companies. In this regard, the companies surveyed are almost aware of the importance of the value of ICT, which implies an insufficient use of ICTs and an incomplete maturity of this field.
