In more and more complicated urban building environment, a new construction method that metro engineering is constructed by large-diameter shield and shallow mining method can be regarded as a great attempt in China. By taking the Gaojiayuan station of Beijing metro line 14 as an engineering background, the main construction steps for the platform of the metro station built by a large-size shield with an outer diameter of 10 m and the Pile-Beam-Arch (PBA) method are introduced. Based on the soil-structure interaction theory, a two-dimensional finite element model is used to simulate the shield tunneling and the platform construction by the PBA method to enlarge the shield tunnel. The ground deformation and structural stress of the platform are predicted. The numerical results can be regarded as a valuable reference for the application of the new construction method in Beijing metro line 14.

This paper introduced construction method for deep pile of Zishui bridge through karst region and the checking results of the pile bearing capacity. Firstly, main structure of Zishui bridge was simply introduced. Secondly, according to the special geological conditions, construction methods for bored piles in water and drilling platform were described. The discussion focused on the problem of boring and grouting in karst foundation and their solutions. Finally, to ensure that the pile capacity can meet the design requirements, load transfer method was used on the part of pile foundation to calculate the bearing capacity. Results showed that pile bearing capacity meet the requirements, and the feasibility and correctness of construction method of Zishui bridge was also verified,which provides references for the design and construction of the same civil engineering.

With the speedy development of Beijing mass transit, the land for metro engineering construction is becoming more and more insufficient; moreover, more and more complicated building environment problems are coming forth in future. In a complex building environment, how to choose available construction method to fast, safely and economically build metro engineering is worthy to be urgently studied in Beijing mass transit. Taking the experiment project of Beijing metro line No.14 as an engineering background, a new construction method that a running tunnel is firstly built by large-size shield method and then a metro station is constructed by shallow mining method to enlarge existing large-diameter shield tunnel is presented in this paper. Based on the building conditions of the experiment project, three architectural design schemes for the metro station and two kinds of construction plans are briefly introduced, and their advantages and disadvantages are analyzed as well. The new construction method can be used as a reference for the design and construction of metro engineering in China in the future.

Through field static load test and pile shaft axial force test, field testing study is conducted on bearing behavior of NAKS-construction-method belled large-diameter PHC pipe pile; besides, the test result is compared with that of hammering-method PHC pipe pile and bored pile with same pile length and diameter under the same site condition. The result shows that the ultimate bearing capacity of NAKS-construction-method belled large-diameter PHC pipe pile is slightly inferior to hammering-method PHC pipe pile but obviously superior to that of bored pile. Compared with traditional hammering-method pipe pile, the pile side resistance of NAKS-construction-method belled pipe pile is smaller; however, the higher toe resistance will give better play to bearing capacity of bearing stratum of pile toe; moreover, it is found that under the action of ultimate load and failure load, the maximum settlement and final settlement of NAKS-construction-method belled pipe pile tip are obviously lower than that of other test piles, which is conductive to lessening foundation settlement of upper structure.

From an engineering reality, in order to solve complex stratigraphic drilling problems and improve construction efficiency, the method of combination of large diameter DTH hammer and the pile driver with a special long spiral drill multifunctional is proposed. This method has the characteristics of simple equipment, fast, effective, low cost etc. It can quickly drill through layers of gravel, stone, weathered bedrock, reach to depth up to above 25m. It has been widely used in embedded engineering methods of precast piles, the long spiral rock-socketed piles, piles into the rock currently. The study of this construction method has not only wide range of applications, but also has a wide range of practical and theoretical significance.

There are numerous difficulties and risks in the construction of river-crossing tunnel of large-diameter metro. How to ensure the safety of the project and reduce the construction risk is the key issue requiring urgent solution. This paper, taking a project of constructing river-crossing tunnel of large-diameter metro as the research background, compared and selected the methods of constructing this river-crossing tunnel. Large-diameter slurry shield machine was recommended to conduct digging construction. Then, possible risks of the selected construction method were analyzed and summarized into two categories: risk concerning the project itself and environmental risk. Finally, corresponding measures to handle the risks were put forward.
