Abstract ALUMINUM 5657 is an aluminum-base, wrought, non-heat-treatable alloy of high purity and bright appearance. It has high resistance to general corrosion and to stress-corrosion cracking. It is used widely in the anodized condition for automotive and appliance trim. Abstract ALUMINUM 5254 is an aluminum-magnesium-chromium wrought alloy of the non-heat-treatable type; however, it can be hardened and strengthened by cold working. It is relatively strong and has excellent resistance to general corrosion and stress-corrosion cracking. Its applications include hydrogen peroxide serivce and chemical storage vessels.
