Abstract Sulzer Metco 8500 is a nickel-chromium alloy wire for electric arc spraying. The nominal composition is Ni-45Cr, and applications are in the protection of power-plant boiler tubes. Abstract This paper discusses the principles of high velocity arc spraying (HVAS) and its use in surface engineering. It also reviews applications in marine environments and power plant boiler pipes, where HVAS coatings provide corrosion protection.
