AbstractFeCrBAlMo coating was deposited on an AISI 20 steel substrate by high velocity arc spraying (HVAS). Compared with FeCrBSiMo coating and pristine AISI 20 steel, the microstructure and high temperature oxidation behavior of FeCrBAlMo coating were investigated by optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, energy-dispersive spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction. Meanwhile, the bonding strength of the coatings was also measured. The results indicated that both coatings were composed of α(Fe,Cr) and Fe

In order to improve the organization, reduce the porosity, compact the structure and enhance the corrosion resistance of the coating, Zn-Al-Mg-RE coating system was prepared by high velocity arc spraying. The surface appears, phase composition and electrochemical properties of the coating were characterized by scanning electron microscope, X-ray radiation diffaction and electrochemical workstation. The results indicated that the coatings were compact. The coatings were mainly zinc and aluminum phase. In corrosion of immersion, the reaction resistance and coating resistance of coatings quickly become bigger, the surface of coatings become more compact, and the corrosion reaction is more difficult. Electrochemical tests showed that the coating had excellent corrosion resistance. The electrochemical protection and self-sealing effect of coatings can have long-term effects on anticorrosion.

4Cr13 martensitic stainless steel coatings with different amount of V/Nb were prepared on the surface of the Q235 low-carbon steel by high velocity arc spraying (HVAS). The microstructure and properties of the coatings were characterized and tested by scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), optical microscope, microhardness tester and wear tester. And the wear mechanisms of the coatings have been studied. The results showed that optimal percentage of V/Nb could improve performance of the coatings. The coatings had good forming properties, uniformity of microstructure and compact structure. The highest value of adhesion strength was up to about 36.80 Mpa. The hard particles could incease the hardness and wear resistanc of the coatings. The average microhardness was about 523 HV0.1, higher than that of 4Cr13 coatings, and the abrasive wear resiatance was enhanced because of the added elements V and Nb. Key words: alloying coatings; 4Cr13; V/Nb; high velocity arc spraying (HVAS); abrasive behaviour

The cored wires were fabricated using five kinds of amorphous compositions with high Fe content. The cored wires were sprayed to form coatings by high velocity arc spraying (HVAS) after optimizing technology. We studied the bonding strength of the coatings. The results are as follows: combining ways between coating and substrate are mainly mechanical combination. The average bond stress is above 30 MPa.
