Abstract LESCALLOY D6AC VAC ARC is a high-hardenability low-alloy steel for high-strength structural applications requiring tensile strengths up to 280,000 psi. It provides a high ratio of yield strength to tensile strength, good ductility and excellent notch toughness with a tough, fibrous fracture as low as 210 F in impact tests. It is produced by the vacuum consumable electrode melting process to provide optimum cleanliness and preferred ingot structure. Its uses include fasteners, shafting and aircraft components.
