Molluscum contagiosum (MC), a frequent viral infection, is generally easy to diagnose because of its characteristic clinical features. However, atypical presentations can be a diagnostic challenge for clinicians. Dermoscopy has helped in this cases by showing a characteristic dermoscopic pattern composed of a central pore or umbilication in conjunction with polylobular white to yellow amorphous structures, surrounded by linear or branched vessels (‘red crown”). However, additional dermoscopic patterns can be found. Herein we present two MC cases where rosettes were seen on dermoscopy

Molluscum contagiosum is a viral infection of the skin. It may occur anywhere on the skin surface but is most common in skinfolds, on the face, and in the genital region. Atypical presentations are usually seen in conditions with altered immunity, but they may occur in immunocompetent patients as well. We present a case of an unusual presentation of molluscum contagiosum lesions (multiple normal and one giant) on the plantar area of the foot in an adult.

We present the more relevant aspects of the 10 most frequent dermatologic diagnostics: acne, fibroepithelial polyps, atopic dermatitis, seborrheic dermatitis, molluscum contagiosum, melanocytic nevi, psoriasis, actinic keratosis, seborrheic keratosis and viral warts. We describe their pathogenesis, clinical features, their management and preventive actions to avoid the progression of the conditions.

Two cases of tuberculosis of the foot are described. The diagnosis for each was delayed and unexpected. The clinical features of osteoarticular tuberculosis are reviewed along with practical guidelines for diagnosis.

ABSTRACT Neurilemmomas involving bones are rare tumors constituting less than 1% of central benign tumors of bone. Only few cases of neurilemmomas occurring in the mandible have been reported in the medical literature so far. Here, we report a case of neurilemmoma involving the posterior aspect of mandible in a 15 years old male child. This case was a diagnostic challenge as the clinical features and radiographic features mimicked that of an odontogenic cyst but histologically turned out to be a neurilemmoma. Discussion on the incidence, clinical presentation, radiographic appearance, histopathological features and treatment of this benign neurogenic tumor is presented here. Children often present to the emergency department for evaluation of a variety of hematologic complaints ranging from pallor to bruising and bleeding. Some may require emergent evaluation and treatment, whereas others pose more of a diagnostic challenge. A detailed history and physical examination along with laboratory evaluation can aid in appropriate diagnosis and management of these patients. Hematologic emergencies include anemia, disorders of clotting, and sickle cell disease. This chapter reviews common presentations of many pediatric hematologic conditions, atypical presentations, and important diagnostic criteria. In addition, the chapter presents evidence-based treatment algorithms. Potential complications of various conditions are also discussed.
