Nursing has embraced flexible online advanced education as a means of increasing the supply of nurse professionals. Virtual simulation and other adaptive learning technologies enhance learning efficiency and student outcomes. A simulated electronic health record (DocuCare) was adopted in an online graduate nursing informatics course. An assignment using DocuCare to learn core concepts of nursing informatics was developed for graduate students enrolled in a nursing informatics course. A validated standard informatics survey instrument was used to measure three individual domains (basic computer skills, roles, and advanced computer skills (clinical informatics)) as well as the combined informatics competency level. Overall, the nursing informatics competency level was between competent and proficient; basic computer skills and roles were above proficient; and advanced computer skills (clinical informatics) fell between competence and proficient levels.

Integrasi Teknologi Informasi (TI) di bidang kesehatan terbukti meningkatkan kualitas pelayanan kesehatan dengan meningkatkan patient safety serta mempercepat waktu layanan. Salah satu inovasi TI di bidang kesehatan yaitu rekam medik elektronik (electronic health record). Rekam medik jenis ini sudah umum digunakan di negara maju namun masih jarang digunakan di negara berkembang termasuk Indonesia. Sebelum pengimplementasian suatu sistem informasi baru di pelayanan kesehatan, perlu dipastikan bahwa user dapat mengoperasikannya dengan baik sehingga hasil dari sistem tersebut optimal. Perawat sebagai tenaga kesehatan dengan jumlah paling banyak di suatu pelayanan kesehatan seperti Rumah Sakit merupakan user terbesar bila rekam medik elektronik ini diterapkan.  Oleh karena itu diperlukan suatu alat untuk mengukur kemampuan atau literasi sistem informasi keperawatan (SIK). Salah satu alat ukur kompetensi SIK yaitu NICAT (Nursing Informatics Competency Assessment Tool) yang memiliki 3 bagian serta 30 item pertanyaan. Penulis melakukan alih bahasa pada kuesioner ini, kemudian melakukan uji validitas dan reliabilitas. Jumlah sampel pada penelitian ini yaitu 233 perawat di salah satu Rumah Sakit Pemerintah di Pekanbaru, Indonesia. Hasil uji validitas pada 30 item dengan r tabel 0.128 menunjukkan r hitung diatas nilai tersebut dengan Cronbach’s Alpha 0,975. Dapat disimpulkan kuesioner pengukuran kemampuan SIK (NICAT versi Bahasa Indonesia) telah valid dan reliabel sehingga dapat digunakan mengukur kemampuan SIK perawat Indonesia.

This chapter showcases how the collaborative learning and teaching strategy known as Team-Based Learning™ (TBL) can deliver against the conceptual components within active blended learning (ABL), through exploration of different case studies from the authors' university. It begins by detailing the core concepts and theories underpinning each pedagogic approach before considering how adoption of TBL is consistent with the wider implementation of ABL. Case histories are used to highlight how these approaches enhance the student learning experience and how learning technologies can enable staff to do more of what they value within the classroom. The value of different learning spaces to facilitate TBL and augment the learning experience for both staff and students is considered. Finally, the chapter explores some of the more difficult questions around the lack of broader uptake of TBL within an institution committed to ABL as its standard approach to learning and teaching.

The use of 3D and Virtual Reality is gaining interest in the context of academic discussions on E-learning technologies. However, the use of 3D for learning environments also has drawbacks. One way to overcome these drawbacks is by having an adaptive learning environment, i.e., an environment that dynamically adapts to the learner and the activities that he performs in the environment. In this paper, the authors discuss adaptive 3D virtual leaning environments and explain how a course author can specify such an environment (i.e., authoring). The approach and tool that the authors present allow authors to create adaptive 3D virtual learning environments without the need to be an expert in 3D or using programming or scripting languages. The authors also conducted an evaluation to validate the approach and the usability and acceptability of the authoring tool. Based on the results, recommendations for authoring adaptive 3D virtual learning environments have been formulated.

Massification, digitalization and bureaucratization are now the major trends that shape higher education. Massification has led to an inevitable problem of the heterogeneity of students and the need for adaptive learning; digitalization has created a need for distance learning technologies and, as a result, learning data production; finally, bureaucratization has meant that the education quality assessment now predominantly relies on quantitative rather than qualitative indicators. At the crossing of these trends, a new research interest has emerged, which develops both theoretical and practically oriented studies and which has become known as learning analytics. Learning analytics is now actively discussed in Western countries, where national policies to regulate and stimulate this sphere are designed and professional associations of specialists in learning analytics are created. Proponents of learning analytics believe that the data collected and analyzed by an education institution will help the management take more justified and objective decisions than those based on expert opinions. Learning analytics is understood in this paper as a necessary tool for detecting the weak sides of the curricula. It also helps build students’ individual learning trajectories, which is essential for an individualized approach in education and for making the learning process more adaptive. Opponents of learning analytics, in their turn, see it as a threat to the current balance of power in education, the roles of the teacher and manager, and point out the need for specific competencies and the danger of personal data breach. Russia is now left out of the global agenda: except for a few recent cases, learning analytics is still viewed by many as more of a promise than reality. This review is aimed at shedding light on the modern understanding of learning analytics, its development in the world and in Russia, the prospects and limitations of its application in Russia from the perspective of the key stakeholders in higher education. We also propose recommendations regarding the organization of a university learning analytics system. This article will be of interest to university managers and decision-makers, teachers and scholars of higher education as it provides information on the organization of a data management system, including the collection, analysis and use of data.

Wikidata, a community-curated knowledge base related to Wikipedia, affects our access to information, wielding more power than many realize. Seeing an opportunity for improving access to knowledge and promoting their collections, libraries, archives, and other cultural heritage institutions have been experimenting with Wikidata in various ways. One burgeoning area of activity is in Wikidata’s scholarly citation data, but that participation has largely concentrated in the sciences, leaving a gap in its theological and religious studies coverage. This presentation demonstrates how this gap matters to theological libraries and shows how you can contribute to efforts to fill it, even in small ways. Delving into Wikidata can be intimidating, but it doesn’t have to be. As long as you have basic computer skills, you can find a way to participate.
