The purpose of the study is to revise relevés of synanthropic communities dominated by Melilotus albus and M. officinalis from forest, forest-steppe and steppe zones of the European part of Russia and Belarus and to reveal the variation in their floristic composition in this territory. In the present paper, 66 relevés from 2004 to 2016 are analyzed. As a result of the study, the association Melilotetum albo–officinalis was identified. It includes three subassociations that reflect different ecological conditions and some geographical distribution features of communities. Subass. typicum includes the most typical communities. It has two variants. Communities of var. typica often contain few species due to the strong dominance of Melilotus albus and M. officinalis. Var. Ambrosia artemisiifolia includes early successional phytocoenoses affected by regular disturbances. The mesophytic communities which are rich in mesophilous meadow and ruderal species are assigned to the subass. tussilaginetosum farfarae. They tend to spread in the northwestern part of the study area located in the forest zone. Subass. сarduetosum acanthoidis includes xeromesophytic communities. Its coenoflora contains highly constant species of the order Onopordetalia acanthi and a high proportion of subcontinental and continental species. They are widespread in the eastern part of the study area, in steppe and forest-steppe zones. Еnvironmental differences between habitats of the described communities are shown using targeted ecological indicator values. The highest variability between syntaxa was identified in the levels of moisture in soils and substrates, temperature, continentality and hemeroby.

The comparative analysis of floristic composition of the Russian Plain center broad-leaved forests of the alliance Carpinion betuli Issler 1931 em. Meyer 1937 was carried out by means of detrended correspondence analysis (DCA) and direct ordination along ecological factor scales. The three associations representing the proper zonal units of the area, namely Querco-Tilietum cordatae Laivinš 1983 in the hemiboreal forest zone, Aceri campestris—Tilietum cordatae ass. nov. hoc loco in the broad-leaved forest zone, and Aceri campestris—Quercetum roboris Bulokhov et Solomeshch 1991 in the forest-steppe zone are characterized. Although all the forest stands described are small geographically isolated fragments, their floristic composition demonstrates the existence of syntaxonomic continuum and seems to be influenced by landscape features and anthropogenic disturbance just as strong as by zonal climatic factors. As a result of the undertaken analysis, the syntaxonomical revision of the Central-Russian broad-leaved forests of the alliance Carpinion betuli Issler 1931 em. Meyer 1937 is proposed.

The article presents the results of long-term research of ravine oak forests of the Rostov region. The term ‘bayrack’ (ravine) forest is associated with the growing of forests of this type on the slopes of ravines in the forest-steppe zone. The conducted ecological and floral classification showed a high syntaxonomic diversity of ravine oak forests of the region. Forest communities are represented by 6 associations: Scorzonero ensifoliae–Quercetum Sokolova ex Semenishchenkov 2020; Vicio pisiformis–Quercetum roboris Semenishchenkov 2012; Pyro pyrastri– Quercetum roboris Poluyanov 2012; Chamaecytiso ruthenici–Quercetum roboris Poluyanov 2012; Fritillario ruthenici-Quercetum roboris Onyschenko, Dyakova et Karpenko ex Goncharenko in Goncharenko et al. 2020, Melico pictae-Ulmetum minoris ass. nov. prov. from 2 classes: Carpino–Fagetea, Quercetea pubescentis and 2 unions: Aceri campestris-Quercion roboris and Scutellario altissimae-Quercion roboris. There are 67 rare plant species listed in the Red Books of the Rostov [1], Volgograd [2] and Voronezh [3] regions in the communities of these associations. Oak forests in the south of the European part of Russia significantly increase the biological diversity not only of the Don region, but also of the entire steppe zone of the country.

Ixodes tick-borne borrelioses occupy one of the leading places in terms of morbidity and socio-economic damage among the natural foci of zoonotic infections in our country. Expansion of the range distribution of pathogens Lyme disease along with the widespread increase in the size of the main vectors of infection (ticks) determines the relevance of the study of the epidemiological characteristics of Lyme disease in areas that until recently were considered safe from the disease. This study was conducted to identify the level, dynamics and disease distribution patterns of Ixodes tick-born borreliosis in areas of Сentral European part of Russia, located in different climatic zones. Based on statistical data and reports from the Russian Federal Service for Oversight of Consumer Protection and Welfare- Rospotrebnadzor and Center of Hygiene and Epidemiology in Moscow, Ryazan and Tula regions for the 1992-2015 years, it has been shown that the incidence of Lyme disease increases moving from south to north as well as from the forest-steppe natural-climatic zone to the southern Taiga zone. The most epidemiologically disadvantaged region by Ixodes tick-born borreliosis amongst the studied regions was Moscow region, where the average annual incidence rate was 2,6 per 100 000 population. In all three areas, despite the differences in the species composition of mites and their degree of infection, there is an annual increase in morbidity due to Lyme borreliosis. The findings confirm the need for preventive measures against Ixodes tick-born borreliosis, the most significant being territorial coverage with acaricidal treatments.

Relevance and methods. The studies were carried out in 2017–2019. on podzolized chernozem in the forest-steppe zone of the European part of Russia on the territory of the Republic of Mordovia. Weather conditions during the years of research varied from humid to extremely arid. Intensive methods of tillage helped to reduce soil moisture before sowing peas.Results. Compared to direct sowing, humidity decreased by 11–39% in the upper soil layer, by 5–12% in the arable horizon. Productive moisture reserves were lower for plowing and discing than for direct sowing: 21–33% before sowing, and 27–34% in the budding phase. The maximum differences in the reserves of productive moisture between the methods of tillage were noted in 2018 during the phase of pea budding. In the cases with plowing and discing, the moisture content decreased in the horizon of 0–30 cm to critical values of 0–10 mm/ha. Significant differences in pea productivity between options with tillage were revealed only in 2019. The maximum yield was observed on plowing – 5.54 t/ha, the minimum on the option with direct sowing — 5.54 t/ha. Under drought conditions, maximum yields were observed in the variant with direct sowing of pea seeds.

The following paper deals with origins of the pottery traditions in the early Neolithic European North of Russia. At present there is a prevailing scheme of ornamental styles development stages in the Early Neolithic antiquities forest zone of the European part of Russia - from pinned-point/without ornament to the later ornamental comb tradition. Among the series of dates taken as a chronological frame for the Neolithic forest belt around 7000 years ago, there are deeper/ancient definitions for pricked fragments, as well as vessels with comb-style ornamentation. The paper presents technical and technological analysis of the ceramic complex of monuments in Berezovaya Slobodka in Nyuksensky district and monuments in Tudozere and Kemozere in Vytegra district.

The analysis of the level and long-term dynamics of the incidence of ixodic tick-borne borreliosis, the population's appeal for tick bites and the infection of mites with Borrelia burgdorferi sl. in the Moscow, Ryazan and Tula regions. An annual increase in the incidence of Lyme disease in the direction from the south to the north, from the forest-steppe to the southern taiga, was determined, due to the frequency of contacts of the population with Ixodes persulcatus Shulze 1930 and I. ricinus L. 1758. At the same time, a statistically significant relationship between the incidence of mites infection and the incidence of Lyme disease in The studied regions are not observed. The obtained results testify to a tense epidemic situation in the center of the European part of Russia and the need to implement all components of surveillance for the natural foci of the Lyme disease.
