This study investigated factors that might influence teachers’ intention to choose Renewable Energy Sources as an optional module. The research involved 454 Greek teachers working in the archipelagos of the southern Aegean region in Greece, an area with significant potential for the development of Renewable Energy Sources (RES). This potential however remains largely unexploited partly due to local community reluctance towards RES development in the area. Although renewable energy education is considered to be necessary for further RES development, RES are not among teachers’ first choice as an environmental module. We found that, despite teachers demonstrating highly positive attitudes towards RES, they consider local communities to be rather non-supportive of local RES development. A relationship between teachers’ moderate intention to teach RES and teachers’ perceptions of locals as non-supportive towards RES was found. We also found that local teachers feel more competent to teach about RES than non-local teachers. The latter are more motivated to comply with social pressure than locals. These findings emphasize the need for renewable energy education policy makers to take into account local communities’ role in influencing the teaching of RES and to provide teachers with the appropriate skills in order to competently handle potential oppositions.

Renewable Energy Sources (RES) including full cells, wind turbines, and photovoltaic panels, widely are spreading. Among all the renewable energy sources, solar power generation system tops the list. The first choice is the boost converter when the voltage step-up is the issue. But the most important subject is applying an efficient structure with high gain, cheap and quick controller circuit. Our proposed cascaded boost converter is one of such converters which consists of several cheap components such as diode, inductor, capacitor and power switch, which has same switching frequency and phase shift in comparison with conventional boost converters. In comparison with the classic cascaded boost converter, the voltage gain for the proposed structure is very high and by forming a preamplifier layer, for a duty cycle of 80 % by adding only two diodes, one inductor, and one capacitor for the second block, voltage gain is increased by 5 times compared to the classic boost converter. The proposed method provides the increased output voltage along with the duty cycle. The projected strategy has been verified with the help of Matlab/Simulink. Also, a hardware implementation of the proposed converter has been done around 200 W by applying a Jiangyin HR-200W-24V type solar panel.

Abstract The issue of renewable energy sources that have great potential to give solutions to the longstanding energy problems of India has been considered. It has been stated that renewable energy sources are an important part of India’s plan to increase energy security and provide new generation with ample job opportunities. India’s plans to move towards green technology and address environmental concerns associated with the country and the world have been characterized. The peculiarities of the renewable energy education in India as a subject and as a specialized branch of engineering or science at different education levels in both government-funded and private institutes across India have been outlined. Science and engineering education system with detailed structure of the degree (undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral and post-doctoral) course has been described. Comparative study of renewable energy education systems of other countries has been performed. It has been stated that currently in India science colleges offer undergraduate renewable energy course as BSc. (Renewable Energy) and Postgraduate level course (MSc) that are offered in different science institutes in the specialization of Renewable Energy, Energy Management, Energy Studies, Physics (Energy) etc. Doctoral and postdoctoral research is offered by a few science institutions in India which is a more focused research (issues) in solar energy or wind energy field. The process of studying in a number of Indian institutes specializing in renewable energy has been described and compared to other world educational establishments of Spain, Mexico, and Russia. Advantages and disadvantages of renewable energy specialization education have been defined. It has been determined that there is an immediate need for the development of requisite demonstration which should be provided at appropriate levels in which both on-job as well as traditional training in these areas should be given to the expansive audience with the aid of modern andragogy techniques.

Following an updated outlook of global energy production and utilization, we show through selected examples from both developing and developed countries how distributed generation from renewable energy sources, and from solar energy in particular, is the key solution to ending energy poverty across the world. Guidelines aimed at policy makers suggest a systems view of energy that will be instrumental in guiding the transition from fossil fuels to combustion-free renewable energy for all energy end uses.

Abstract World is witnessing a trend of countries adopting renewable energy sources viz.a.viz. Fossil fuels dominated energy sources. International Energy Agency believes that by 2025 energy produced from Renewable energy sources will most likely surpass electricity generated by coal. India being one of the largest producer and consumer of electricity in the world is already one of the largest producers of energy from renewable sources in the world with 38%+ of India’s total installed capacity from renewable energy sources. In this study we analyze and review the role that Renewable Energy is going to play in India’s Energy basket. With growing dependence on non-fossil fuels, it’s imperative for industry participants, policy makers, governments and researchers to decipher what is the role that is going to be played by energy produced from renewable energy sources in India’s energy basket from a strategic as well as policy making perspective.

Over 90% of Uganda's power is generated from renewable sources. Standardised Implementation Agreements and Power Purchase Agreements create a long-term relationship between Generating Companies and the state-owned off-taker guaranteed by Government. The COVID-19 pandemic and measures to curb the spread of the virus have triggered the scrutiny and application of force majeure (FM) clauses in these agreements. This article reviews the FM clauses and considers their relevance. The authors submit that FM clauses are a useful commercial tool for achieving energy justice by ensuring the continuity of the project, despite the dire effects of the pandemic. Proposals are made for practical considerations for a post-COVID-19 future which provides the continued pursuit of policy goals of promoting renewable energy sources and increasing access to clean energy, thus accelerating just energy transitions.
