This paper presents an effective solution to overcome the problem caused by intermittent energy sources that are connected to a balanced/unbalanced distribution system using a superconducting magnetic energy storage (SMES) system by mitigating the voltage and frequency fluctuations during wind gusts. The fuzzy logic control technique (FLC) is used with SMES to improve the voltage and frequency. A squirrel cage induction generator (SCIG) is applied as the wind energy generator. The IEEE 33-bus distribution system is used to validate the proposed method. Buses 18 33 are the weakest points in this system; thus, the wind and SMES systems are connected to the system at these buses. We used MATLAB/Simulink to simulate the performance of the IEEE 33-bus system (balanced/unbalanced) considering the SMES, wind system, and fuzzy logic control (FLC). The simulation results show the high performance of the proposed control method to alleviate the voltage and frequency fluctuation and achieve the power leveling strategy of the studied system.

At present fuzzy logic control is receiving increasing emphasis in process control applications. The paper describes the application of fuzzy logic control in a power system that uses a 12- pulse bridge converter associated with Superconductive Magnetic Energy Storage (SMES) unit. The fuzzy control is used in both the frequency and voltage control loops, replacing the conventional control method. The control algorithms have been developed in detail and simulation results are presented. These results clearly indicate the superior performance of fuzzy control during the dynamic period of energy transfer between the power system and SMES unit. Battery charging is an important issue when it is associated with battery life and cycle performance. The aim of this research is to design and promote fast battery chargers using fuzzy logic control techniques (FLC) for LiFePO4 batteries have been developed. The proposed charger is controlled by voltage and current to activate the PWM duty. The results show that the proposed battery charger has the potential to accelerate charging up to 37% at the rate when charging 2C. This means it is faster than the existing filling. The charger proposed by the FLC method is also capable of charging LiFePO4 batteries with greater efficiency, which is 82%. It can be concluded that the FLC application method has better performance than the CC-CV method

In order to reduce the enlargement of coal floor deformation and the manual adjustment frequency of rocker arms, an improved approach through integration of improved genetic algorithm and fuzzy logic control (GFLC) method is proposed. The enlargement of coal floor deformation is analyzed and a model is built. Then, the framework of proposed approach is built. Moreover, the constituents of GA such as tangent function roulette wheel selection (Tan-RWS) selection, uniform crossover, and nonuniform mutation are employed to enhance the performance of GFLC. Finally, two simulation examples and an industrial application example are carried out and the results indicate that the proposed method is feasible and efficient.
