The accuracy of the monitoring information is particularly important for exploring fractured rock mass deformation and failure mechanisms and precursor characteristics. Appropriate monitoring methods can not only timely and effectively reflect the failure laws of fractured rock masses but also play an early warning role. To explore more reasonable monitoring methods, uniaxial compression experiments and real-time non-destructive monitoring on prefabricated fractured rock specimens through DIC, AE, and IRT were conducted; the strain field, temperature field, ringing frequency, standard deviation, etc. were analyzed; and correlation between the three methods in the information of audience was explored. The results show the following. (1) The failure evolution process of fractured rock mass can be divided into four stages. DIC can detect the initiation and propagation of cracks near the fractures of the specimen at the earliest stages. (2) The order of occurrence of precursor phenomena in multi-source monitoring information is different, which is vertical strain field > shear strain field > horizontal strain field > temperature field > ringing times. (3) The dispersion degree of standard deviation of each field is obviously different; the infrared temperature field is greater, but the strain field and temperature field show the same trend. (4) There are obvious precursors before the specimen is on the verge of instability; acoustic emission detected two consecutive increases in the cumulative number of ringing before destruction, which means the most obvious precursors. The research results can provide a theoretical basis for the precursory information capture and damage early warning of the fractured rock mass destruction process.

In order to research thermal conductivity of fracture rock, fluid-heat coupling test and simulation are studied. Empirical equation of thermal conductivity is obtained and conductivity factor is ensured by test data. Based on the fluid-heat coupling model of heat-transfer, temperature field distribution of fracture rock is described. At the same time, the heat-transfer equation is discretized by using weighted residual Galerkin finite element. Combined with boundary condition and parameters, the temperature field in fractured rock mass is simulated by finite element method. The temperature of fractured rock mass under the action of the seepage is combined with the initial rock temperature, fluid temperature and the rate of the flow. Thermo-isoline is discontiguous at boundary of fracture, which shows that the seepage affects the distribution of temperature field. The change rate of temperture isoline is gradually reduced along the single fissure flow, therefore the rate of heat-transfer is decreased. The influence of fluid temperature to temperature distribution is small, but different fluid temperature obviously affects thermo-isoline.

In simulation of fractured rock mass such as mechanical calculation, hydraulic calculation or coupled hydro-mechanical calculation, the representative element volume of fractured rock mass in the simulating code is very important and give the success of simulation works. The difficulties of how to make a representative element volume are come from the numerous fractures distributed in different orientation, length, location of the actual fracture network. Based on study of fracture characteristics of some fractured sites in the world, the paper presented some main items concerning to the fracture properties. A methodology of re-generating a representative element volume of fractured rock mass by DEAL.II code was presented in this paper. Finally, some applications were introduced to highlight the performance as well as efficiency of this methodology.
