The location analysis of logistics distribution centers is one of the most critical issues in large-scale supply chains. While a number of algorithms and applications have been provided for this end, comparatively fewer investigations have been made into the integration of geographical information. This study proposes logistic distribution center location analysis that considers current geographic and embedded information gathered from a geographic information system (GIS). After reviewing the GIS, the decision variables and parameters are estimated using spatial analysis. These variables and parameters are utilized during mathematical problem-based analysis stage. While a number of existing algorithms have been proposed, this study applies a hybrid metaheuristic algorithm integrating particle swarm optimization (PSO) and genetic algorithm (GA). Using the proposed method, a more realistic mathematical model is established and solved for accurate analysis of logistics performance. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method, Korea Post distribution centers were considered in South Korea. Through tests with several real-world scenarios, it is proven experimentally that the proposed solution is more effective than existing PSO variations.

With the development of modern logistics system, the automatic logistics distribution centers have been built in most tobacco enterprises. The packaging system plays important role in the distribution center, it is necessary to construct a set of scientific method to evaluate the packaging system mode. According to the real situation of tobacco logistics distribution center, the cost and benefit are set to the general goal. For these three modes of packaging system, packaging by hand, automatic packaging and packaging by heat-shrinkable material, the evaluation index system and hierarchical structure are built. Refer to the hierarchical chart and the principle of AHP, the weight of each index is calculated. On the basis of weight that worked out by AHP, the final evaluation result can be found and analyzed follow the principle of fuzzy comprehensive evaluation. Finally, reference the consequences of the FCE, the DEA model based on FCE is used to enhance the integrality and systematic of the evaluate result.

When decision makers locate logistics distribution centers they will compete with the existing ones and with each other at the same time. The nonlinear bi-level program is modeled for two decision makers under network location environment. The upper and lower objective function is to maximize respective net profit which is the difference of profit and investment cost. Genetic algorithm is applied to solve the problem. A numerical example is also given to show the application. And the result shows that the decision maker who first locates is more dominant than the decision maker who locates later in the competition.

This paper presents a multiple-rescue model for an emergency supply chain system under uncertainties in large-scale affected area of disasters. The proposed methodology takes into consideration that the rescue demands caused by a large-scale disaster are scattered in several locations; the servers are arranged in multiple echelons (resource depots, distribution centers, and rescue center sites) located in different places but are coordinated within one emergency supply chain system; depending on the types of rescue demands, one or more distinct servers dispatch emergency resources in different vehicle routes, and emergency rescue services queue in multiple rescue-demand locations. This emergency system is modeled as a minimal queuing response time model of location and allocation. A solution to this complex mathematical problem is developed based on genetic algorithm. Finally, a case study of an emergency supply chain system operating in Shanghai is discussed. The results demonstrate the robustness and applicability of the proposed model.

This study establishes the logistics distribution center location model under manufacturing and remanufacturing system and modifies alternative expenses and time- restricting condition s of logistics distribution center location model according to the specific feature of model under manufacturing and remanufacturing system. It’s necessary to consider all the factors during the course of establishing the logistics distribution center location model. And it is also necessary to consider effectiveness of distribution center in model and ask for the experts’ opinion and advice. A location model by combining DEA model and mixed integer programming is presented. In this model, in terms of the results of the evaluation of the efficiency of the distribution center by the DEA model, this result is regarded as a constraint of the model. Finally, An example demonstrates that the model can solve the problem of distribution centers location and provide an effective decision tool for decision-maker.

Taking environmental concerns into consideration, a logistics distribution center location-route multi-objective optimization model and its solving algorithm are studied in multi-modal transport network context. The objective functions in the model include total operation cost, delivery time and carbon emission goals. The model’s decision variables are product volumes with different transport modes and the constraints concerned with investment budget, limited capacity etc. Aimed at the model structure, a two-stage heuristic solving algorithm for single objective model is put forward and its validity is proved. On the basis of solutions which are searched by the heuristic solving algorithm, an optimal solution is obtained using one of multi-objective evaluation methods. Finally, a large scale multi-modal distribution network example is provided to illustrate feasibility and effectiveness of the model and the algorithm by comparing solving efficiency and results, and it finds a railway-based multi-modal transport network has the most competitive advantage.

<p class="TtuloAbstract">Within the logistics, especially in distribution centers, there is still use of manual activities, with great possibility of gaining productivity. This work aims to improve efficiency in the supply and separation stages by balancing drug lines using the ABC classification. For this, a case study was carried out in a large Brazilian retail pharmaceutical network, in which products of higher output were relocated in more strategic areas. Ergonomic gains, reduction of required manpower, greater assertiveness, and savings of two hours of work (25%) were the main results achieved. The study also made it possible to disseminate an accessible, automated and effective tool for line balancing on large scale inventories.</p>

This paper proposes a model of long-distance freight traffic that is suitable for transportation models covering very large areas. Three challenges are discussed in turn. First, the geographic distribution of trips not only depends on locations of production and consumption, but also on the choice between alternative logistic distribution chains and the locations of intermediate distribution centers. Second, any stage of the distribution chain may combine several modes into a multi-leg transport. Third, the large scale of the model leads to large zones, implying a significant share of intrazonal traffic. The proposed approach adapts the four-stage model by generalizing destination choice into a distribution channel model and by introducing a mode sequence choice model for multimodal transport. A simplified distance band model is applied to intrazonal traffic.

The current era of industrial economics necessitates warehouse and logistic distribution centers (DCs) to contribute productively toward an organization’s success. Playing such a critical productive role implies that logistics activities must be practiced effectively and efficiently. However, the indistinguishability between effectiveness and efficiency leads to a somewhat shallow interpretation, and consequently, a diluted evaluation. Hence, this paper aims to develop a productivity evaluation model for nine DCs belonging to an international automotive vehicles and spare parts company. The developed model was set up based on two multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) approaches: the Preference Ranking Organization Method for Enrichment of Evaluations II (PROMETHEE II) and data envelopment analysis (DEA). PROMETHEE II was employed to evaluate the effectiveness, while the DEA was utilized in order to measure the efficiency of the investigated DCs. The resulting hybrid model collectively creates what can conceptually and practically be considered a productivity evaluation model. The results also provide six different strategies through which distribution center locations can be evaluated in order to implement potential future initiatives.

A new model called location, routing, production and sale problem(LRPSP) is proposed for logistics distribution center location in the paper. In this model vehicle routing problem(VRP) and the balance or imbalance problem of production and sale are considered, because all these would influence the selection of locations of logistics distribution centers. And also ant colony optimization(ACO) for clustering and ACO for finding the shortest route are introduced to assign clients to distribution centers and solve VRP respectively for the model. Through designing the transition probability, the tabu list and the way to update pheromones reasonably, the composite algorithm of ACO for clustering and ACO for finding the shortest route(CACO) for LRPSP is realized and the computer program is designed by Java. Finally, it’s proved by a simulation case that CACO is feasibility and scientific effectiveness for LRPSP.
