Nonlocal models are ubiquitous in all branches of science and engineering, with a rapidly expanding range of mathematical and computational applications due to the ability of such models to capture effects and phenomena that traditional models cannot. While spatial nonlocalities have received considerable attention in the research community, the same cannot be said about nonlocality in time, in particular when nonlocal initial conditions are present. This paper aims at filling this gap, providing an overview of the current status of nonlocal models and focusing on the mathematical treatment of such models when nonlocal initial conditions are at the heart of the problem. Specifically, our representative example is given for a nonlocal-in-time problem for the abstract Schrödinger equation. By exploiting the linear nature of nonlocal conditions, we derive an exact representation of the solution operator under assumptions that the spectrum of Hamiltonian is contained in the horizontal strip of the complex plane. The derived representation permits us to establish the necessary and sufficient conditions for the problem’s well-posedness and the existence of its solution under different regularities. Furthermore, we present new sufficient conditions for the existence of the solution that extend the existing results in this field to the case when some nonlocal parameters are unbounded. Two further examples demonstrate the developed methodology and highlight the importance of its computer algebra component in the reduction procedures and parameter estimations for nonlocal models. Finally, a connection of the considered models and developed analysis is discussed in the context of other reduction techniques, concentrating on the most promising from the viewpoint of data-driven modelling environments, and providing directions for further generalizations.

This paper is concerned with the existence of mild and strong solutions for a class of semilinear evolution equations with nonlocal initial conditions. The linear part is assumed to be a (not necessarily densely defined) sectorial operator in a Banach spaceX. Considering the equations in the norm of some interpolation spaces betweenXand the domain of the linear part, we generalize the recent conclusions on this topic. The obtained results will be applied to a class of semilinear functional partial differential equations with nonlocal conditions.

In this article, we prove the existence of solutions for the generalized Bagley-Torvik type fractional order differential inclusions with nonlocal conditions. It allows applying the noncompactness measure of Hausdorff, fractional calculus theory, and the nonlinear alternative for Kakutani maps fixed point theorem to obtain the existence results under the assumptions that the nonlocal item is compact continuous and Lipschitz continuous and multifunction is compact and Lipschitz, respectively. Our results extend the existence theorems for the classical Bagley-Torvik inclusion and some related models.

The exact controllability results for Hilfer fractional differential inclusions involving nonlocal initial conditions are presented and proved. By means of the multivalued analysis, measure of noncompactness method, fractional calculus combined with the generalized Mo¨nch fixed point theorem, we derive some sufficient conditions to ensure the controllability for the nonlocal Hilfer fractional differential system. The results are new and generalize the existing results. Finally, we talk about an example to interpret the applications of our abstract results.

Abstract We consider an abstract nonlinear multi-valued reaction-diffusion system with delay and, using some compactness arguments coupled with metric fixed point techniques, we prove some sufficient conditions for the existence of at least one C0-solution.

This paper is devoted to a class of impulsive fractional semilinear integrodifferential equations with nonlocal initial conditions. Based on the semigroup theory and some fixed point theorems, the existence theory of PC-mild solutions is established under the condition of compact resolvent operator. Furthermore, the uniqueness of PC-mild solutions is proved in the case of the noncompact resolvent operator.

AbstractThis paper deals with the approximate controllability for a class of fractional stochastic evolution equations with nonlocal initial conditions in a Hilbert space. We delete the compactness condition or Lipschitz condition for nonlocal term appearing in various literatures, and only need to suppose some weak growth condition on the nonlocal term. The discussion is based on the fixed point theorem, diagonal argument and approximation techniques. In the end, an example is presented to illustrate the abstract theory.

Abstract The aim of this paper is to discuss the existence of mild solutions for a class of semilinear stochastic partial differential equation with nonlocal initial conditions and noncompact semigroups in a real separable Hilbert space. Combined with the theory of stochastic analysis and operator semigroups, a generalized Darbo’s fixed point theorem and a new estimation technique of the measure of noncompactness, we obtained the existence of mild solutions under the situation that the nonlinear term and nonlocal function satisfy some appropriate local growth conditions and a noncompactness measure condition. In addition, the condition of uniformly continuity of the nonlinearity is not required and also the strong restriction on the constants in the condition of noncompactness measure is completely deleted in this paper. An example to illustrate the feasibility of the main results is also given.

We study the existence of solutions for nonlinear first order impulsive systems with nonlocal initial conditions. Our approach relies in the fixed point principles of Schauder and Perov, combined with a vector approach that uses matrices that converge to zero. We prove existence and uniqueness results for these systems. Some examples are presented to illustrate the theory.

In this paper we prove the existence of mild and strong solutions of semilinear integrodifferential equations in Banach spaces with nonlocal initial conditions. We prove the existence theorems by using Schaefer's fixed point theorem.

Abstract This article deals with the exact controllability for a class of fractional stochastic evolution equations with nonlocal initial conditions in a Hilbert space under the assumption that the semigroup generated by the linear part is noncompact. Our main results are obtained by utilizing stochastic analysis technique, measure of noncompactness and the Mönch fixed point theorem. In the end, an example is presented to illustrate that our theorems guarantee the effectiveness of controllability results in the infinite dimensional spaces.
