Companies have realized the importance of “big data” in creating a sustainable competitive advantage, and user-generated content (UGC) represents one of big data’s most important sources. From blogs to social media and online reviews, consumers generate a huge amount of brand-related information that has a decisive potential business value for marketing purposes. Particularly, we focus on online reviews that could have an influence on brand image and positioning. Within this context, and using the usual quantitative star score ratings, a recent stream of research has employed sentiment analysis (SA) tools to examine the textual content of reviews and categorize buyer opinions. Although many SA tools split comments into negative or positive, a review can contain phrases with different polarities because the user can have different sentiments about each feature of the product. Finding the polarity of each feature can be interesting for product managers and brand management. In this paper, we present a general framework that uses natural language processing (NLP) techniques, including sentiment analysis, text data mining, and clustering techniques, to obtain new scores based on consumer sentiments for different product features. The main contribution of our proposal is the combination of price and the aforementioned scores to define a new global score for the product, which allows us to obtain a ranking according to product features. Furthermore, the products can be classified according to their positive, neutral, or negative features (visualized on dashboards), helping consumers with their sustainable purchasing behavior. We proved the validity of our approach in a case study using big data extracted from Amazon online reviews (specifically cell phones), obtaining satisfactory and promising results. After the experimentation, we could conclude that our work is able to improve recommender systems by using positive, neutral, and negative customer opinions and by classifying customers based on their comments.

Now days, in many real life applications, the sentiment analysis plays very vital role for automatic prediction of human being activities especially on online social networks (OSNs). Therefore since from last decade, the research on opinion mining and sentiment analysis is growing with increasing volume of online reviews available over the social media networks like Facebook OSNs. Sentiment analysis falls under the data mining domain research problem. Sentiment analysis is kind of text mining process used to determine the subjective attitude like sentiment from the written texts and hence becoming the main research interest in domain of natural language processing and data mining. The main task in sentiment analysis is classifying human sentiment with objective of classifying the sentiment or emotion of end users for their specific text on OSNs. There are number of research methods designed already for sentiment analysis. There are many factors like accuracy, efficiency, speed etc. used to evaluate the effectiveness of sentiment analysis methods. The MapReduce framework under the domain of big-data is used to minimize the speed of execution and efficiency recently with many data mining methods. The sentiment analysis for Facebook OSNs messages is very challenging tasks as compared to other sentiment analysis because of misspellings and slang words presence in twitter dataset. In this paper, different solutions recently presented are discussed in detail. Then proposed the new approach for sentiment analysis based on hybrid features extraction methods and multi-class Support Vector Machine (SVM). These algorithms are designed using the Big-data techniques to optimize the performance of sentiment analysis

A wealth of digital texts and the proliferation of automated research methodologies enable researchers to analyze large sets of data at a speed that would be impossible to achieve through manual review. When researchers use these automated techniques and methods for identifying, extracting, and analyzing patterns, trends, and relationships across large volumes of un- or thinly structured digital content, they are applying a methodology called text data mining or TDM. TDM is also referred to, with slightly different emphases, as “computational text analysis” or “content mining.”

The main aim of this study is to identify the key factors in User Generated Content (UGC) on the Twitter social network for the creation of successful startups, as well as to identify factors for sustainable startups and business models. New technologies were used in the proposed research methodology to identify the key factors for the success of startup projects. First, a Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) model was used, which is a state-of-the-art thematic modeling tool that works in Python and determines the database topic by analyzing tweets for the #Startups hashtag on Twitter (n = 35.401 tweets). Secondly, a Sentiment Analysis was performed with a Supervised Vector Machine (SVM) algorithm that works with Machine Learning in Python. This was applied to the LDA results to divide the identified startup topics into negative, positive, and neutral sentiments. Thirdly, a Textual Analysis was carried out on the topics in each sentiment with Text Data Mining techniques using Nvivo software. This research has detected that the topics with positive feelings for the identification of key factors for the startup business success are startup tools, technology-based startup, the attitude of the founders, and the startup methodology development. The negative topics are the frameworks and programming languages, type of job offers, and the business angels’ requirements. The identified neutral topics are the development of the business plan, the type of startup project, and the incubator’s and startup’s geolocation. The limitations of the investigation are the number of tweets in the analyzed sample and the limited time horizon. Future lines of research could improve the methodology used to determine key factors for the creation of successful startups and could also study sustainable issues.

Big data  telah menjadi salah satu topik yg paling menarik dalam dunia teknologi informasi sekarang ini. Salah satu sumber big data yang tersedia dan bebas diakses adalah artikel berita online. Dalam sehari, sebuah situs berita populer bisa menghasilkan lebih dari 100 artikel berita baru. Bayangkan berapa banyak jumlah halaman berita yang tersedia untuk kita baca sekarang ini. Sementara itu, tahap awal untuk melakukan analisis big data terhadap artikel berita online adalah data storing dan preprocessing. Berdasarkan pemikiran tersebut maka perlu dikembangkan suatu aplikasi yang bisa mengumpulkan artikel berita online secara otomatis untuk kemudian di analisis lebih lanjut. Penelitian ini bermaksud mengembangkan suatu aplikasi yang diberi nama dengan intelligent data collector (IDC) yang memudahkan kita untuk mengumpulkan artikel berita online. Aplikasi IDC ini mengumpulkan artikel berita online kemudian melakukan preprocessing terhadap artikel-artikel tersebut dan menyimpannya dalam database lokal. Database ini kemudian bisa digunakan lebih lanjut untuk berrbagai macam data mining proses seperti opinion mining (sentiment analysis), topic classification, text summarization dan lain sebagainya.


Vector representations for language have been shown to be useful in a number of Natural Language Processing tasks. In this paper, we aim to investigate the effectiveness of word vector representations for the problem of Sentiment Analysis. In particular, we target three sub-tasks namely sentiment words extraction, polarity of sentiment words detection, and text sentiment prediction. We investigate the effectiveness of vector representations over different text data and evaluate the quality of domain-dependent vectors. Vector representations has been used to compute various vector-based features and conduct systematically experiments to demonstrate their effectiveness. Using simple vector based features can achieve better results for text sentiment analysis of APP.

Abstract Fierce e-commerce competition challenges designers to differentiate their products on platforms such as Amazon. To achieve this differentiation, designers must first understand how customers perceive product features. This paper builds on our previous work where we extracted features perceived as sustainable for French Press coffee carafes using annotations of Amazon reviews and natural language processing (NLP). We identified a gap between customer perceptions of sustainability and engineered sustainability. We now test our findings with a relatively new design method of collage placement and investigate how designers can use perceived features to set their products apart. We created collage activities for participants to evaluate French Press products on the three aspects of sustainability: social, environmental, and economic, and on how much they like the products. During the activity participants placed products along the two axes of the collage, sustainability and likeability, and labeled products with descriptive features that we provided. We found that participants more often selected features perceived as sustainable when placing products higher on the sustainability axis, demonstrating that these features resonated with customers. We also measured a low correlation between the two-axes of the collage activity, indicating that perceived sustainability and likeability can be measured separately. In addition, we found that product perceptions across sustainability aspects may differ between demographics. Based on these results, we confirm that features perceived as sustainable that are extracted from online reviews resonate with customers when thinking of various sustainability aspects and that the collage is an effective tool for assessing sustainability perceptions.

Abstract New Attacks are increasingly used by attackers every day but many of them are not detected by Intrusion Detection Systems as most IDS ignore raw packet information and only care about some basic statistical information extracted from PCAP files. Using networking programs to extract fixed statistical features from packets is good, but may not enough to detect nowadays challenges. We think that it is time to utilize big data and deep learning for automatic dynamic feature extraction from packets. It is time to get inspired by deep learning pre-trained models in computer vision and natural language processing, so security deep learning solutions will have its pre-trained models on big datasets to be used in future researches. In this paper, we proposed a new approach for embedding packets based on character-level embeddings, inspired by FastText success on text data. We called this approach FastPacket. Results are measured on subsets of CIC-IDS-2017 dataset, but we expect promising results on big data pre-trained models. We suggest building pre-trained FastPacket on MAWI big dataset and make it available to community, similar to FastText. To be able to outperform currently used NIDS, to start a new era of packet-level NIDS that can better detect complex attacks
