BackgroundFlavoured cigarettes are popular in Mexico. We examined how cigarette packaging design features used to communicate flavour influence perceptions of appeal, harm, perceived interest and pack preference among Mexico City residents.MethodsWe conducted an experimental survey. Participants aged 13–34 years were randomly assigned to one of three conditions, viewed packs with systematically manipulated design features (colour, capsule image and flavour name) and answered questions on appeal, perceived harm, perceived interest and pack preference. Data were analysed using mixed effects and conditional logistic regression.Results1500 adolescents and 950 adults participated. Regardless of flavour, cigarette packs with a background colour and capsule image were more appealing to adolescents (OR=13.19, 95% CI 11.53 to 15.10; OR=1.68, 95% CI 1.45 to 1.88) and adults (OR=4.18, 95% CI 3.73 to 4.69; OR=1.66, 95% CI 1.49 to 1.85) than packs without. Among adolescents, ‘Tropical Burst’ named packs were more appealing (OR=1.43, 95% CI 1.20 to 1.72) than packs without a flavour name and among adults, ‘Arctic Air’ named packs were more appealing (OR=1.20, 95% CI 1.02 to 1.14). Adolescents and adults reported a preference for trying packs that displayed a flavour name, background colour or capsule image (b=0.104, b=0.702, b=1.316, p<0.001 and b=0.126, b=0.619, b=0.775, p<0.001).ConclusionsColours and flavour capsule images appeal to adolescents and adults in Mexico. Mexico should consider adopting plain packaging to reduce appeal and interest.

THE PURPOSE. Charging infrastructure is one of the factors influencing the transition to electric vehicles, as the electric vehicles in operation are characterized by a small range and a long battery charge period. Today, the development of the charging infrastructure depends only on the networks of stationary charging stations, which also have disadvantages (high cost, lack of mobility, etc.). Therefore, the purpose of this work is to study the design features of mobile electric vehicle charge units (MCSEU) for the development of draft design documentation for the creation of a new MCSEU project. This issue includes the study of the world market of manufacturers of modern mobile chargers, the study of technical and operational features that are today presented to modern energy storage and storage systems.MATERIALS. The authors of the article processed and analyzed data on the current state of the charging infrastructure in Russia and the world, based on materials from Russian and foreign authors, as well as information on the development strategy of the electric transport industry in Russia and the world, in particular, data from Madison Gas and Electric.RESULTS. The obtained analytical results are one of the aspects that will be taken into account when developing mobile charging devices for electric vehicles. This mobile charger technology significantly expands the possibilities of using electric vehicles, in particular electric vehicles, and also solves various problems of the fuel and energy complex associated with autonomous power sources and distributed generation systems.CONCLUSION. The charging infrastructure is one of the factors influencing the transition to electric vehicles, as the electric vehicles in operation are characterized by a small range and a long period of charging the traction battery. However, this process will be long and in the near future networks of charging stations will be created, including mobile charging units for electric vehicles.

Gamification is a novel technology that can potentially motivate student learning. This chapter reflects on the implementation of a gamified application to support students' learning in terms of learning important facts concerning their study program. The scope of the chapter refers to two design features in which tests were conducted on the different configurations in a field experiment among UK university students. The initial feature identified was feedback, where it was anticipated that engagement would increase, with tailored feedback having a greater impact than generic feedback. The next feature identified was circumventing users from binge gaming through session limits, as this may potentially prevent deep learning. The findings suggest that tailored feedback was less effective than generic feedback, contradicting the initial anticipation. Session limits were found to not circumvent binging without a reduction in sessions. The findings suggest that gaming properties of gamified applications could impact sustaining and encouraging play.

Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is the causing pathogen of the unprecedented global Coronavirus Disease 19 (COVID-19) pandemic. Upon infection, the virus manipulates host cellular machinery and ribosomes to synthesize its own proteins for successful replication and to facilitate further infection. SARS-CoV-2 executes a multi-faceted hijacking of the host mRNA translation and cellular protein synthesis. Viral nonstructural proteins (NSPs) interact with a range of different ribosomal states and interfere with mRNA translation. Concurrent mutations on NSPs and spike proteins contribute to the epidemiological success of variants of concern (VOCs). The interactions between ribosomes and SARS-CoV-2 represent attractive targets for the development of antiviral therapeutics and vaccines. Recently approved COVID-19 mRNA vaccines also utilize the cellular machinery, to produce antigens and trigger immune responses. The design features of the mRNA vaccines are critical to efficient mRNA translation in ribosomes, and are directly related to the vaccine’s efficacy, safety, and immunogenicity. This review describes recent knowledge of how the SARS-CoV-2 virus’ genomic characteristics interfere with ribosomal function and mRNA translation. In addition, we discuss the current learning of the design features of mRNA vaccines and their impacts on translational activity in ribosomes. The understanding of ribosomal interactions with the virus and mRNA vaccines offers the foundation for antiviral therapeutic discovery and continuous mRNA vaccine optimization to lower the dose, to increase durability and/or to reduce adverse effects.

The article discusses the issues of modeling conditions for obtaining diagnostic information about complex objects. Checking the braking and traction properties of three-axle trucks on a roller stand is considered as an example. As shown by many studies, in particular, which were carried out at the Department of Technical Operation and Service of Automobiles of the KhNADU (HADI), inertial stands provide more reliable information about the technical condition of the car. Such stands allow you to reproduce the real speed and thermal conditions of the brakes. To improve the accuracy of diagnosing a car on a roller stand, it is necessary to have an idea of the nature of the interaction of the car's wheels with the rollers. The study of the rolling of the wheels of a three-axle car bogie on the stand rollers was carried out at the Department of Technical Operation of Cars, KhNADU. However, all these studies were carried out on biaxial stands, where each bogie wheel rests on a pair of rollers. In order to exclude wheel slippage, partial braking is recommended, that is, a mode when partial force on the pedals (or pressure) is created in the system and, as a result, incomplete braking force develops in the braking mechanisms (or deceleration reaches some partial value from the full one). It is necessary to analyze the possibility of implementing full brake test modes on a roller stand by improving the layout and geometrical scheme of the stand. A power model of the system of interaction between a car and a stand has been developed, taking into account the design features of the stand and the design features of the suspension of a three-axle car. The power model of this system includes the equations of equilibrium of the body and two axles, as well as the equations of motion for the rollers and wheels of the car. Based on the results of the analysis of the acting forces in the "car-stand" system, the coefficients of the use of the load q during the brake tests of a three-axle car were determined, and the longitudinal stability of the car was also analyzed. The obtained research results allowed to improve the theory of interaction of the wheels of three-axle vehicles with single rollers of the diagnostic stand.
